So are we sure that tomorrow's gonna be the big day for those of us still waiting to hear back? Anyone know if this will be the last committee meeting?

CoffeePrincess, love your name, heehee.

I contacted Admissions recently and they told me they have no info about when decisions will be released. 😕

A few of us were told "second week of March," which is this week...so.....

Anyone else have any info? Has anyone else contacted Admissions?

i think they need to have offered as many as they are taking in the given year. I don't think the rule is that everyone has to have a decision

I interviewed mid-February but forgot when they said we'd hear back. Let's hope they aren't cruel enough to keep us waiting another week! Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

I thought that all med schools had to release decisions by March 15th per aamc guidelines...

Which AAMC guidelines are you talking about? I found these but those just say that by May 15 they need to accept at least as many people as they have spots.

I interviewed in the last week of February and they said to expect to hear back this week, and to contact them if we don't hear back by the end of the month.

Current students - I have a question about P/F unranked. How does AOA work at Sinai? The reason I'm asking is because it seems NYU (which I am also considering) has P/F unranked as well, but they count the number of times that a student is in the top 25% of each pre-clinical class and rotation. So, this doesn't really seem like an "unranked" system.

Is Sinai the same? How do you feel about the grading system / AOA selection?

Caveat: I realize it seems perhaps a bit naive to be considering this when I don't even know if I am smart enough for / I don't know if I will still be considering competitive specialties after entering school. But it would be nice to clarify details.

NYU is P/F with internal-only ranking.

Sinai is true P/F, so 3rd year + EC's probably matters

also, yes, naive.

That's the thing about NYU and Cornell that I dislike. They both have P/F, but how is a P/F a true P/F if you're still being "ranked" and your preclinical courses taken into account in your Dean's Letter?

At Sinai, we are true P/F with no record of your class performance in the first 2 years taken into account for residency (well, unless you fail a course...). AOA selection is based on 3rd year performance (we do have a "high pass" designation here, so it's not just honors/pass like some other schools) and your boards score only. As thus, there's really no pressure during your courses for the first two years (which I think is the way it's supposed to be). I've doubly-and-triply checked this, so don't worry.

hey, mistoffelees, do you know what % of the class comes off the waitlist?

Any current students know if for the housing here do you have to pay first/last or a deposit?

Another question is, do you know the first possible move in date? I only ask because the person who usually deals with this question is out for the week.

My wife starts her job in July and we are trying to move in then (the 1st week of July)

People usually move in a week before orientation, but I've heard of people moving in significantly earlier. It really depends on the availability of the unit. First week of July would be earlier than units are usually available, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Oh man oh man oh man is it going to be today???:scared:

Wait i got accepted too.

Is this for real?!

Alternate List after getting the 'continued consideration' email in Janurary

interviewed in Sept, just got the waitlist. Anyone know what movement is like on this thing?

Alternate List after getting the 'continued consideration' email in Janurary

+1 here. I hate to be that guy, but is there a difference between the alternate and wait list at this school? I know a few others have differentiated between the two.

interviewed in November, continued consideration in December, alternate list just now. really bummed, this is my favorite school by far. did anyone who got continued consideration get in this round?

I'm still in disbelief. I got rejected/waitlisted from lower-ranked schools and I basically figured this was a lost cause.

what a crapshoot of a process.

alternate list here as well...

+1. Very awkward phrasing for an alternate list. What a roller coaster ride of a sentence!

"We are pleased to inform you that you have been placed on the Alternate list for Mount Sinai School of Medicine's class entering August 2013"

Not giving up quite yet!😀

alternate list here too. interviewed back in october, got the 'under consideration' email. anyone know whether the list is ranked or not and what kind of movement it has?

I wonder if everyone who got the continued consideration e-mail was placed on the alternate list?

I got put on the alternate list and just withdrew. Best of luck to you guys!

Will be declining my acceptance here today. Hope to help the alternate list movement!

Am I the only one who saw the first few words of the alternate list email and thought it was an acceptance at first?

Congrats to those accepted!

I don't know percentages, but I can tell you that a lot of people get in off the wait list. Don't lose hope if you're on the alternate list.

^ lets hope so. im wlled here and at nyu.. which seems to be the case for a lot of people.

Waitlisted.

Horrible. Horrible. HORRIBLE CHOICE OF WORDS. I thought the same thing.

I had the most awesome interviews here. I don't understand this process at all. +pissed+

How was it phrased? 😵

How was it phrased? 😵

"Dear xheyyox,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been placed on the Alternate list for Mount Sinai School of Medicine's class entering August 2013."😕

Alternate list unfortunately. This is my number one choice too. Bummer 🙁

Looks like they didn't reject anyone post interview this year as well, probably making it harder to get off the wait list.
