How do you know if your application is complete? After you login to check the status of your secondary, does it explicitly say, "COMPLETE?" I've called admissions 2 days in a row, but it goes straight to voicemail. I've also sent an email but haven't heard back from anyone.

It says "** Your Secondary Application was completed on 10/xx/2012 and is currently under review. ** " under the LETTER RECEIVED.

Reeeeejected! Good luck everybody.

Hey guys....I'm hoping you all can give me a little bit of advice. I have a very similar profile to those that received IIs around 10/3, but I haven't heard anything since I was complete on 8/28. The only difference with my profile is that those who received IIs seem to have done a TON of volunteering and research, and I did a slightly above average amount. Do you think I should send a LOI? Will they even accept one? In my opinion, this school does not seem receptive to emails, phone calls, or application updates. I would LOVE to interview here...one of my top choices. Idk what to do :-( Advice anyone?

Interview Invite today! Submitted 8/3. Completed 8/30.

I have tried to contact my student host twice (a little more than a week apart). Shall I contact the hosting program and try to get someone else or just wait it out some more? My interview is in a month.

Anyone mind commenting on their student host experience? I have never done this before.

anyone know if they are open to and/or encourage updates pre-ii?

"**Optional letters and or update emails sent to the [email protected] email address will be automatically added to your file for the committee's review. WE WILL NOT RESPOND TO AN EMAIL UNLESS A RESPONSE IS NEEDED."

so I would say sure, why not!

i was complete was 8/28 as well and have above avg stats and tons of research and volunteering, no word from NYMC yet. I dont think you should be worried

Ok, thanks for the reassurance Deetss!

This is the only interview I did this for and I have to say it was definitely worth it!

I got in at around 10pm the night before the interview, but my host took me around campus, showed me where to get coffee in the morning, and let me bother him and his roommates with all of my questions. I asked them why they chose the school, if they're happy with their decision, and if they could give me negatives about the school.

My host was in a dorm style place on campus, and it's definitely worth checking out if your host isn't.

FINALLY COMPLETE! Canadian applicant living in Toronto (8 hour drive away).

Sooo excited for this school. I have a feeling this will be my first interview invite + there are still a lot of acceptances left in December. Is there anything to do in the area surrounding campus and also how long is the commute to Manhattan via MTA?

GL everybody!

Hey guys! I'm a current M1. We just got through a rough couple of weeks with exams so that might be the reason you haven't heard from your student host. Also, we get a TON of email from various departments to our school e-mail address so your email could have gotten lost in the shuffle. The student hosting is handled through the admissions department so I would call if you haven't heard from your host.

There is a lot to do! You are about a 30-45 minute train ride from the city via MetroNorth. There are a bunch of cute little villages in westchester with various things going on. There is great hiking up state and in the parks around. We also have a ton of student run activities (flag football, powder puff football, culture show, lots of clubs.....)

Good luck!!

How is the MMI interiew like? and what are the things that you liked about NYMS so far? Thank you

hey i'm interviewing here next week. hope to meet some of y'all there!

I've been trying to contact the admissions office for the past week and I've also sent an email. Has anyone successfully called the admissions office within the past week or so? If so, around what time did you call?

I've tried getting ahold of them in the past with no success. They'll only respond to you if you're asking them a question that can't be answered on their website or by looking at your status page.

Heyo! Wondering if current students can comment on how they like NYMC?

What are the +?
What are the -?

Anything particularly unique to NYMC, other than being relatively close to NYC?

Thanks!

Have been marked complete since 8/28, I guess the rejection letter is on it way 🙁

Is anyone interviewing Monday Nov 3?

It's so frustrating. I've been calling them every single day but still no luck. One of these days, I'll get ahold of them.

I was able to get through today around 11 AM. I had to listen to the whole long message about the secondary application, and then at the end of it I was given the option to hit "0" to speak to someone.

Interestingly this is all it took to finally get my application marked complete. I wonder if it has been sitting complete this whole time, or if it will only now be sent to the committee?

Finally got through today as well. The lady said that for an app to become complete, it takes about 4-6 weeks but that since I was past the 6 week mark, she would make it officially complete. I have a feeling it's going to be sent to the committee now.

so if my status page says decision letter sent, but i have not received an email invite does that mean ive been rejected?

Does it just say "Decision letter sent:"? That has always been there. I believe if it was sent, there would be a date next to it.

It says decision letter sent to everyone. I believe when a decision has been made, it will have something written in front of decision letter sent.

Did you guys get an email when you were complete? I just checked my status page randomly and found that I was marked complete 2 weeks ago.

ha! yup, it says decision letter sent. going back to make-believe happy land until the real letter gets here. completed 8/30

If it just says "decision letter sent:" with nothing else, no actually decision has been made on your application. It is only a placeholder for an actual decision status with a date

show me some love NYMC, been complete since 8/28

+1
Just checked last year's thread, and NYMC sent out IIs to late August completions on October 25-27. Hopefully they'll repeat themselves! I want an II at this school so badly 😀

I've called and spoken to someone twice, both times they confirmed that my application was complete, but yet it doens't say complete on my online status page, nor does it have my LOR listed as received.

Anyone else in this situation? Any advice?

Cab ride to valhalla train station = 5-7 mins
Cab ride to white plains train station = 10-12 mins

Check out train schedules for train to grand central at: http://as0.mta.info/mnr/schedules/sched_form.cfm

Get the express train...from valhalla, it's about 38 mins; from white plains it will be about 30-32 mins.

You can look at the airport shuttle schedule here:
http://www.nyairportservice.com/

Alternatively...you can take the train and get off at harlem-125th st (it's the stop before grand central), and take the M60 BUS directly to LGA. It's cheaper than the shuttle, and probably faster. But if you are going to JFK, taking the airport shuttle from grand central is probably your best bet.

ultimately, i'd give yourself about 1.5 hrs...but it really depends on when the train is leaving from valhalla or white plains...trains leave more frequently from white plains, so it would be in your best interest to just take a cab from campus (or hitch a ride from someone) to the white plains train station.

A little late but thanks!

My page changed to complete in the beginning of October, but the date of completion was in the middle of September. So it's definitely probable you're complete.

I just withdrew my interview invitation. Hope one of you gets it!
