Yeah, like everyone else has been saying, they aren't receptive.

I sent them an in-the-area email and they sent me a (really nice!) email back saying that they can't make a decision until they get to my app. But I did end up getting an interview a few weeks later so it doesn't seem to have hurt me any!

From what I understand, it says you're complete and under review the entire time until you're interviewed/rejected, so that doesn't mean much. Someone correct me if I am wrong!

completed 9/22. nothing here either.

we'll prob all hear back at the same time. hopefully soon! :xf:

Acceptances start soon! Show me some love, FSM 🙂

If I were to send a Letter of Interest, does anyone know where I should send it (i.e. just directly to the admissions office or elsewhere)? And would an email suffice or would they prefer snail mail?

I know some people have mentioned it's still early, but seeing that people are getting interview invites for December is making me nervous... And I know my numbers aren't entirely competitive for Feinberg, but I really do have a strong interest in the school.

Wouldn't submission of your secondary application and app fee alone be an indication of interest?

One would think the admission committee would consider submission of secondary app and fee as indication of interest in their school

They do. I sent in an update myself a few weeks back.

Thank you! I didn't see anything about it on the status website or a place to upload anything so I wasn't sure. Did you just email it?

Yeah. I can't remember the address but it was just the admissions email.

One would think, but this is SDN, and SDN will take any edge it can to gain that sweet, sweet acceptance.

anyone mind sharing where (preferably hotels) they stayed for interview at NU? 🙂

I did a priceline map search to find the least expensive in the area. For me it was Club Quarters at Wacker. I had about a 8 block walk in the morning, but went right by a Starbucks and it worked out well. And the hotel was super nice and quite inexpensive for downtown Chicago (~120 before tax).

Interview invite to MD/PhD and MD last week! Complete on 10/20. 37, 4.0

anyone know if feinberg will be interviewing the first week of december?

So....I can't stop checking my email for Northwestern....last year's first acceptances came Nov. 3rd, but they also started interviewing earlier...

I should have mentioned to them that my biggest weakness is lacking patience...

x2!

I see two MSTP interview invites, anyone else get them? I submitted a long time ago and haven't heard anything, pretty sure I'm gone but I'm holding out some hope haha.

Complete 9.20; II 11.4
Excited! Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

has anyone gone through the interview (MD only) at Northwestern yet and can comment on what it was like? was it one on one, or were there multiple students with a faculty member? how laid back was it and what types of questions were asked? thanks!

There are two interviews: one short, one-on-one interview with an admissions committee member, the other a long, panel interview with three ADCOM members and three interviewees. Both very laid back, but the panel interview was very different than anything I had done before. More questions about myself, not my application. There was also a group activity at the end so they could see how we could work together.

could you please elaborate on the panel interview? was each student asked the same question or a different question? did questions about yourself deal with your personality or background, instead of ethics/your activities?

I haven't submitted my NW secondary yet, but I really like this school and really would love to get in. What are the chances of II/admission with this late of a submission?? I have a 4.0/37

every person got asked different questions. some people got asked standard "why do you want to be a doctor" type questions, but then there was also "if you could write a book, what would it be about" and "what color crayon are you."

I applied beginning of October with 3.8/37 and I got my interview recently. They interview from September to February and my invite options were all in January, so while I think you got a shot, they may be running out of interview spaces

When is NW going to announce their decisions? Next week?

I interviewed with them on October 5th. Dean Wallace told us they would send out decisions 6-8 weeks after the interview. Keep in mind, however, that very few students are accepted outright; most are put on the wait list. PS: We go by NU, not NW. 😉

Might as well just submit it. It's only $85 in the grander scheme of things.

I didn't plan on submitting my secondary here, but received an email from the dean encouraging me to apply based on preliminary screening. I guess that email worked since I submitted shortly after.

I was told 4-6 weeks and about 1/3 of the class is selected in the Fall. 2/3 of the class is pulled in around February/March. I could be wrong, of course, I'm far from infallible. Either way, some decisions from NU's ADCOM should come within the next two or three weeks.

I could have sworn he said 2/3 of the class is picked at the first decision and 1/3 in March. I also may be wrong, though.

I suppose at least our ratios are right? 😉

The first decision should go out by the end of November, and I can't imagine more than 1/2 the interviews have been given [and processed] by that point. Selecting 2/3 of the class with less than 1/2 the interview pool selected would be a pretty 'tough' rolling admission. 1/3 early, the rest waitlisted, and the last 2/3 of the class selected in the Spring makes more sense to me. But I could easily have heard wrong. It was at the end of the day, after all. For our sake, I hope you're right. 🙂

I was pretty tired by then... I thought they did rolling admissions then admitted a bunch of deferred people in march. If they only do two rounds of acceptances, your numbers make more sense... But I do agree, I hope it works out my way, haha.
