I'm glad I could offer some hope to a fellow applicant, and I apprechiate you calling me a good canidate 🙂 (it's all about the little things lol) To answer your question I was complete 8/17

I submitted my supp on 8/1 and still haven't heard anything...anyone else in the same boat? Any advice?

I submitted 8/11 and haven't heard a peep since then... but there is no way to check status except to call right? does anyone know if they are receptive to phone calls or if that is a bad call?

Submitted 9/11 haven't heard anything. Would like to know the answer to this question as well.

Anyone else get the email "confirming" the date/time that Dr. Capers will begin making phone calls? Just wondering if they only sent this out to ppl they know they're accepting.

I interviewed 9/10...no email. Was he there for your interview session? I was feeling good about OSU til now...lol.

Could be a troll post, it's their first post.

It's not a troll post. I created an account so I could ask this question. Exactly two weeks after my interview I got an email that basically reminded me to check my phone starting midnight October, 14th. Check your spam folders.

Oh sorry, never can be too cautious, as a scientist I'm trained to be skeptical

interviewed a week ago, no email here.

I got the email 8 days after I interviewed. Pretty sure everyone gets it.

I didn't get the email, interviewed about 13 days ago. I hate reading SDN for this reason- I now am wondering if I have been rejected.

Hey bud, try not to worry about it and keep your chin up! No one has any idea whether or not this email means anything, and even if it does, if you scored an interview at OSU I'm sure you'll get into some fantastic schools!

Does anyone know whether OSU looks at MD and MD/Ph.D. applications separately? Or do they consider your application for MD/Ph.D. first, then it goes to the MD applicant pool? Thanks so much!

maybe you batch won't be considered until a later committee meeting? The ones being notified first will most likely be the first group of interviews

If you interviewed between Sept. 10 & Oct. 1, you will receive a personal acceptance call on October 15 starting at 12:00 a.m. (midnight).

So they aren't rejecting or waitisting anyone? Pretty much, you're saying the interview was just a formality. I find that hard to believe, sorry.

If you're joking, it's hard to understand sarcasm through the internet.

He/She is not joking that was from their official twitter
And it means if you got in you get a call
Their statement does not preclude people being rejected

i interviewed on the 1st. they said that if you got in they'd call you. otherwise they'd just give you a status update on Oct 16.

it is from their twitter (@ohiostatemed)

I'm sure they mean if you get accepted you will received a call. Like 5lippy said, if you are not accepted you will just received a status change on the status page letting you know (waitlist/reject).

Makes sense, good luck to everyone this cycle!👍

Yes, people who get accepted right away get called unless Dr. Caper's is busy or away (but he almost always calls, he is awesome). People who get waitlisted or rejected do not get calls.

INTERVIEW INVITE!!

Via email on status page. The date they assigned me is not until early January though...will that really adversely affect my chances? Am I interviewing for the waitlist?

Dude. Chill out and be happy you got an invite. Obviously if they interview until March they are anticipating that there will still be spots open for you in January. Relax and be thankful for the chance. There's no way they will have the class 100% full at that time.

Only on SDN would you see this. sheesh

lol thanks. On another note though. Anyone know how cold it gets in January? Coming from California I have nothing right now to handle the cold/snow!

Hello from chilly Columbus! Last winter the weather was pretty mild, but I would plan for the worst. Definitely plan on snow (so bring an extra pair of shoes/boots or wear some that can handle it). You'll want a heavy/warm winter coat, probably a hat/scarf/gloves/the whole bit. I would estimate the weather will be below freezing. This week so far it's been around 30 degrees in the morning with highs in the 50's in the late afternoon. Hope that helps! You can ask again closer to your interview and I/someone can let you know what it's like!
PS If you're flying in, keep in mind snow often causes flight delays.

time to go winter clothes shopping!!

I got an interview invite this AM!!! I actually didn't apply here until relatively late because I overestimated the OOS preference and money was definitely an object in making my school list.I grew up as a huge buckeyes fan and I've visited the campus several times with my dad and I think the city and campus are gorgeous. I love The Ohio State University, and I am shocked that I have heard back so quickly 🙂 .
Unfortunately the earliest date available was in early January, but after applying this late in the season I'm ecstatic to have heard back so soon. My wife is from the great lakes region also, and I am fairly used to the climate.
I'm OOS for those wondering, and my stats are roughly
Low 30's MCAT
4.0ish sGPA
3.8ish cGPA
Excellent Clinical Experience
Excellent Work Experience
A lot EC's from college, not quite as many recently (non-trad)-so I'd say average EC's
Below average research (a few case studies, computer science research grant, and my first true research project in medicine just started a few months ago.)

Got my interview invite this morning, too! OOS, and complete some time in mid Sept. 😀

There will be spots open. I interviewed in very late march and was offered a spot.

OSU does not interview for waitlist spots.

thanks!! I interviewed at OSU two years ago...ended up getting deferred and then rejected 🙁 Hoping for much better outcomes this time around!

Getting nervous/excited for tomorrow night, please call me Dr. Capers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So nervous for tomorrow-my stomach clenches every time I think about decisions. Hoping the lack of the confirmation email isn't a sign of rejection. I've prepared myself for the worst, though. 🙁

Edit: Less than 12 hours to go!

Good luck to those interviewing tomorrow! You will be fine! The interviews at Ohio State are not that stressful, I promise. You already have your foot in the door, and as tiedyeddog and I can both attest, you are NOT interviewing for a waitlist spot. We both interviewed late two years ago, and were both accepted a week later. We're M2s now! Keep your head up, breathe and be yourself. I'm sure you'll fit into the OSU family just fine.

I bet there are a lot of people awake right now waiting for that call. I certainly can't fall asleep...

Definitely wigging out over here. Really really hoping for the call!
