Congratulations! If y'all are in town for second look I'd love to buy everybody a round ;D
Just got the call from Dr Capers! Was absolutely not expecting it and had actually gone to sleep already. Still in shock and can't get my hands to stop shaking!
For all those who get "deferred decision", don't be discouraged. I received the dreaded deferred decision 2 weeks ago and then got accepted today. Hang in there! It can still happen!
Hell yeah. High five bro

Congrats!!
Did you send an update/interest letter between the time you were "deferred" and the time you were accepted?
Trying to get my acceptance!!
Does anyone know what caused OSU's research ranking to slip from 27 to 39? I remember hearing that it was due to an arbitrary technicality; something about their cancer center research funds counting separately from the medical school.....
Also, any thoughts on Ohio State vs. Case Western?? They are both great schools and if it comes down to these two I will have a hard time deciding.
I was complete late August (OOS) and haven't heard anything yet. Should I wait it out or send them an update email and hope for a response?
I missed a blocked call tonight at around 7:15 eastern time. I do not have an activated voice mail. Does anyone know if the number he calls from show up as blocked? And if he was calling around 7:15pm tonite? Ahhh....kinda freaking out.
I was accepted last night after being deferred on Oct. 29th. Also, I interviewed on Oct. 3rd. Hit me up if you interviewed then!
^ +1. Curious about letters of intent, as well.
Last year I sent in three letters of intent starting in late April - I was accepted shortly after I sent in my third one in mid May.
For those of you who stayed with student hosts--how early before your interview did you get confirmation of student hosting? I'm interviewing in January and JUST booked a flight (thank god for Hipmunk and email notifications! Got a cheap flight!) so I wanted to see if I needed to look for hotels in case they can't find me a host
I sent my host request the day I got my II, back in October.
It honestly looks like they defer everyone unless you're 35+. What's the deal OSU?
Definitely not the case, trust me. I'm far from that.
I interviewed on a Wed. and they got back to me the Friday before, but I had to call them up and try to find out if I had a host because I hadn't had any communication with them for about a month prior.
Anyone have any thoughts regarding OSU's interview? I have one coming up soon and am so excited! 🙂
Dress warm, it can get very cold here. Also, just try to be relaxed and honest during your interviews. They want to see how good of a fit for the school you are in terms of personality, that is a big objective at OSU.Anyone have any thoughts regarding OSU's interview? Can anyone recommend a restaurant for dinner in Columbus? I'll be here this week and my flight gets in the day before my interview. My boyfriend is traveling with me, and I figured we'd go out to dinner somewhere unique to Columbus (or basically not a chain like Friday's or something) the night before.
Any suggestions anyone? Somewhere delicious and not too expensive. Any kind of food really. Thanks!
See this link, check out the restaurants that start with "M", Martini on High St, and M at Miranova Sq

Others have had some great suggestions so far. Schmidt's is pretty unique and the food is awesome. The Potato pancakes and apple sauce are just amazing. Buffet can be hit or miss. Get a cream puff and split it if you go, awesome stuff.
Sushi/Japanase - Akai Hana is the best columbus has to offer. Pretty good but in no way stacks up to west coast/east coast sushi.
Fish Market - the best fish place in columbus and it is very close to campus, I love this place.
Indian - Aab is probably the best indian place in columbus, very good buffet if you can make it but dinner is also very nice.
Cap City - this is more americana, very close to campus and god food but really not that special overall.
All decent places... but I'd still recommend either Columbus Brewing Company, Elevator Brewing Company, Barley's Brewing Company, or Milestone 229 over all of those. If you appreciate good local brews, that is. And they all have great food, actually - more than just burgers and brewpub normals.
I'm glad you didn't put Haiku or Sushi Rock or one of those trendy Short North places over Akai Hana. They're OK, but Akai Hana does much better. The grocery store Tensuke (next to Akai Hana) has a pretty good selection of food too!
