Ugggggh .... seriously... no call again.... boooo! 👎

I don't want to take anatomy in the summer (about $900) for no reason.... I will wait for the next one in April and then withdraw if not chosen. It's a great school, but I have other obligations that will not allow me to wait for a decision past May (relocating my entire family, new job for significant other, schools for little one, etc.). Too bad for me 🙁

So what happens if you're still deferred when they're done interviewing? Do they review everyone again and make decisions... or is it just your deferral becomes a rejection on May 15? I'm not really sure what happens! Does anyone know?

Is the next call night in April? I wonder what happens then, too Einstein.

I'm pretty sure that once interviews are complete and they have handed out all of their "initial" acceptances, all those who are deferred are essentially on the "waitlist", and as soon as people withdraw, those who are deferred (Waitlisted) will be offered spots in the class

This is my first post on SDN and I thought I should speak up considering I rely on the insight that people provide on this forum.

I interviewed on March 4th and today was suppose to be the day calls were made about decisions. It was said during interview day that calls would start at 7:00pm ET. I didn't get a phone call and I haven't seen anything on twitter about Dr. Capers making the phone call today. Does anyone know when the status update will be available tomorrow?

My deferral notice came basically first thing. Like8:30 am or so.

+1 .... I also wonder since we interviewed later in the cycle, whether they are a bit more "stingy" in giving acceptances. It seems like at the beginning of the thread people were accepted every time, but now I don't see much of that, just a lot of deferred peeps.... I know that one student told me he had been accepted in June so I guess they just pull people off the list until first week of classes. I assume most movement will occur right after May 15.

Several of the M1 and M2 students were being really nice and reassuring and told us that they got deferred and were accepted late (May/June) in the application cycle.

The Director of Admissions said during the morning session that every student in the room has a spot available to them, making it seem like they are still sending out acceptances and not just deferrals. However, that's speculation and I honestly have no clue.

While this is true to a certain extent, two of my fellow M1 classmates interviewed on the last day of the 2011-2012 cycle and were accepted outright. Several of my classmates interviewed in March and many more were pulled from the waitlist. You still have plenty of reason to be optimistic.

I certainly hope so. This is my first choice! Are they receptive to LOI?

Deferred. I guess that's better than a rejection at this point! 🙂

I hear you! I'm more than happy to take the class to attend, but taking the class based on the possibility that you might get accepted later is a pain.

I thought everyone who does not get accepted will automatically be deferred I don't think they reject people post interview.

People have posted on here that they've been rejected post-interview, so it definitely does happen

I completely agree. I want to go here SO badly, but I don't want to spend so much money when there is a chance I won't get in :-(

I have been following this thread nearly everday since I got an II to OSU and subsequently got deferred. Although it is not great being on the deferred list, I am glad deferred students have an outlet during the much anticipated call days. That being said, I appreciate all the hilarious memes that come out during those days. Keep them coming! 😀

OOS and will be declining my acceptance. Loved OSU, but got into my #1 choice last week! Hopefully this opens up a spot for one of you.

Oh thank you! I would love your spot!!!

Congrats on getting into your #1 choice and thank you for opening up a spot!

Deferred but glad it is not a rejection. I'm trying to research more into this status. I'm curious how many people get differed and how many get interviews? Like could there be 100s on the deferred list. I understand that each time they make calls to accept they review the differed lists. I think that there were are two has been one since March 4th and another coming on March 20th.

Anatomy, I heard that if this is not completed you can still be offered a spot and they send an email about available options. Does anyone have any details about the contents of this email? I'm curious about the online courses.

Thanks!

I would be willing to bet that there are well over 100 people who are deferred, given that they interview 600+ for a class that is between 180-200 (different people had different opinions on how the overacceptances from 2 years ago would affect this years class size). I would guess when it is all said and done, 300-350 people will be accepted (including those who were deferred), out of the 600-800 people they interview.

tl;dr: very likely there are "100's" on the deferred list

Yep, just to clarify, according to the entering class of 2012 info provided on interview day: total applicants interviewed =736 total acceptances = 319 total class size = 178 non-residents = 102 residents = 76

Every day since December that Dr. Capers has been making calls:
(View this on a computer for the best viewing experience)

Naive excitement  and hopefulness all day
Ah, finally, 7 PM! Better make sure my phone is on loud. Now to just wait for the call! :corny:
:eyebrow: ... shoot! getting a little late and no call. Better check SDN!
+pissed+ I see people posting about receiving calls
:smack:Okay, he must have just started calling. I'm probably next! Any minute now...
....... then I realize I'm not getting a call. Send semi-frantic text messages to boyfriend, tell him "I'd do anything to get a call...." :wow:
(his thoughts = :beat:)
And then I throw myself a pity party +pity+ You're all invited! :hardy:
And finally, realize that it's just not happening tonight. Give Mr. Bones right here next to me on this bench a pat on the scapula. Until next time!

All these were awesome! Completely made my day, especially that last one!

.... and still on the SDN Ohio State thread post-no-status-change-after-call-night.

Is it wrong that I felt a happy camaraderie on Monday night with all of you on here as none of us got the call and we were all waiting together?

I think this application process is starting to get to me.....

I'm sure the rest of us felt that way. 😛

Hey folks, did anyone else on the deferred list get an email earlier this week with a newsletter attached? Just curious.

Hey, I was deferred back in October. I'm wondering if I should give up hope, or send an update. I did like this school, but after so much silence, I think I'm bound for the rejection pile sometime soon.

Just to clarify, OSUCOM will 100% get a hold you on either of the dates they told us about at interview day (the first day for acceptance calls and the second for status updates on the website)? Or has there been a few cases where someone didn't hear back on either of the days?

^ Even if you miss your acceptance call, your status page will change the following day. And if you are deferred/rejected, status page still changes.

Not related, but anyone else catch the game today with osu vs iowa? Is Aaron Craft boss or what?!

Clutch shot at the end, but they wouldn't have been in that situation if he could make his damn free throws

^ True that but at least he cleaned his shots up towards the end. I thought he was going to pass to Thomas and nearly flipped my s&^% when I realized he was going for it. Lucky bastard!

Isn't Craft premed?
That was a crazy game, I'm feeling a Buckeye vs Miami championship in the making.

Yeah he's premed with a 3.8 gpa or something. Ridiculous. But I am pumped for the Thursday game 🙂

Crazy, I was an NCAA D2 athlete, and kept a 3.8 GPA, and it was ridiculously hard. When I went back for premed, I took a full semester of lab sciences, without a sport I suddenly had so much free time, and that was with a job. Playing for a school like the Ohio State is just so much crazier, keeping a 3.8 with that kind of commitment shows he'll be ready for med school time management.

But then again, I didn't play a big 3 sport so there wasn't any preferential treatment 😀 😛

I felt there was camaraderie on Monday night, for sure.

Does anyone know when the next call day is? I checked the forum, but I didn't see anything and apologize if it's already posted.

FYI: I called the admissions office and asked them what determines if a student gets off the deferred list. The woman I was talking to, Flow, mentioned that we have a interview score and a application score and that it's partially based on those numbers. I then asked her if we are on a listed based on these numbers and she said no. I asked her if we were tiered and she said no. I followed up by asking her if there was anything specific that OSU was looking for when picking an applicant and she didn't know. I then asked if I could send another letter of recommendation and she said no. My last question was if I could come in for another interview and she said no. Not sure if this is common knowledge, but I thought I should share if it was not.

The next call day is April 1st for acceptance phone calls and then April 2nd for checking up on the applicant status.

Did she say anything about letters of interest? Also does anyone know about how many people come off the list after the May 15th date? I need to take anatomy and after that date I probably won't have enough time.
