If you check their website, they tell you to call their office Mon-Thurs between 2-5PM to check your status. The number is 305-243-3234. They are incredibly nice and willing to assist!

or send them an email...i did, and they told me i was complete, but they got so many apps that they are WEEKS behind.

I don't think it's too late... I've had oddly strange luck with schools that I waited forever for to fill out their secondary

Thanks everyone! I read under their website's FAQ and it says:

"Q: Is there a deadline for submitting my secondary application?
A: We ask that you submit your secondary within two weeks after you are invited to complete the application. But clearly understand that we will not process secondary applications that are received after January 15."

I just wasn't sure if "we ask that you submit" is just a preference or a strict deadline/requirement saying you must submit in 2 weeks after you are invited to complete it..... :/

Anyone heard anything about interviews yet? Last year they came out around this time.

Can any current students talk about the recent news in UM, where they had to let go of a bunch of faculty.

Haven't heard anything and I've been complete since early July. Based on last years thread, the first IIs went out this past wednesday. I guess somthing is slowing up the process this year. I hope we hear somthing next week.

Interview invite for MD/MPH! I'm OOS 3.8/30. So so excited!!

You must be one of the first given an II...

Got one today as well. 3.68/35 OOS
When are you interviewing?
I think I'm going to respond to the Oct 29/30 date.
I guess there are so few dates because the MD/MPH program is small?

The other dates available were Sept 10/11 (I have another interview)
and Oct 15/16 (my friend who goes to Miller will be out of town)

When did you guys (the two that received interviews today) submit/complete your secondaries?

Did people who submitted their secondaries already receive any communication from the Miller School confirming receipt of your secondary besides the two a3support emails? I called in to ensure it was complete and they said they received it and were reviewing it. I just wanted to confirm this with others as well.

Same here, I never received a confirmatory e-mail, but I did call for a status check and everything was in order. I think the only interviews have been MD/MPH. Not sure when regular MD will be sent but hopefully sooooon!

7/29 but i dont think that really made much of a difference... i think it may be bc of the md-mph

Getting me all excited to see that some IIs have been given out, even though I applied solely. MD.

I got a call from Miami that I was complete back on 18 July.

So this is going to be late. From what it appears like, only MD/PhD interviews are being sent out.

I was worried about the app and if any interviews were being sent out since it was approaching September so I went ahead and emailed them about it and this was their response 4 days (sorry for the delay guys!)

"
Hi [name], your file is in the process of review.
You will be contacted via email once a committee decision is made.
"

So this is just a heads up for the people applying to MD only! And yes, this SHOULD(?) indicate that my file is complete, so after paying the secondary fee, they receive your application.

Do they receive updates/edits after you pay for your secondary (if you mess around with the order status and click on a bunch of links you can get to the edit portion)? I don't know!

I think you can "change" your application all you want, but you cannot resubmit it.

Interview invite today (on a Saturday!). Haven't chosen a date yet...probably a Friday so I can spend time at the beach.

cGPA 3.53, sGPA 3.51, 30O URM, OOS, MD only

Congrats, first interview invite for the MD program at Miller (as far as I know)!

Be proud 🙂. And enjoy the beach and beaches (IF YA KNOW WHAT I MEAN HEH HEH).

Congrats to you guys who got invites! Both URMs, I wonder if they look through those first or something. I'm half Guyanese, does that count? =[

OOS interview invite just now! Looks like they really don't have much preference for Florida residents anymore.

3.91/3.90/34S. See my MDApps for more details. It seems like they just started rolling them out so I wouldn't worry just yet.

Ah. Damn iPhone SDN app doesn't show MDApps yet! Congrats, though! I'll keep my fingers crossed 🙂

Anyone know the interview dates available?

I work for the University of Miami and saw a lot of my co-workers get let go after being there for over 18 years. It was sad and the morale is pretty low, but it will pass and things will get back to normal eventually. We are still in limbo, as they are doing another wave of firings during the next couple of weeks. They have tried to be transparent about it, so it won't come as a shock. As far as clinical and research activities, they have been somewhat impacted as they are now short-staffed in some departments. I couldn't really say more without being too specific. Do you want to know something specifically? Shoot me a PM.

Congrats, when were you complete?

Congrats to everyone receiving interviews! UM is a great school with fantastic professors and great clinical experiences. I'm a current MS1 and we've already started seeing patients at Jackson. Anyway, if anyone has specific questions about the school, curriculum or anything else, feel free to PM - i will get back as soon as I can (we have our anatomy exams coming up next week...) Congrats again to those getting II's and good luck

Don't forget to stop by and say hi when you are on your interviews! UM rocks!

Eric W.
Class of 2016

Scheduled my interview for Oct. 26th...anybody else going to be there then?

Congrats everyone... but what does URM mean? lol still trying to figure out these abbreviations.

Apparently, Miami can't get fans to attend their football games anymore. Other than that, this school seems to be doing great for itself. Adding millions of dollars in research funding, hiring hundreds of faculty members, retaining long standing professors and raising their salaries, and it has no problems with its teaching hospitals. Also, their admission's dean is completely unbiased in pulling people off the wait list, and there are very few behind closed doors favors revolving faculty member's kids. Great school!

Dripping with sarcasm much? Sounds more like a rejected, hurt student than someone trying to help others make informed decisions.

As a lifelong Hurricane fan who was at the game yesterday, I can say that anyone who knows UM football knows that stadium never fills up unless it is a big game like FSU. It has been like that forever. I wasn't even in the stadium when the picture in that article was taken. I will say that there were significantly more people at the game than that picture showed, though the stadium was far from full.

Something else to consider is the fact that the UM student body is only about 15,000 in total compared to public universities in Florida (UF, FSU, FIU) who have over 40,000 students to go to games.

True, but the orange bowl is gone and that was closer to UM then dolphins stadium where they play now. I think that's a big reason.

Gotcha. Thanks. Well that sucks for me, Im a white, middle class male. Does that make me WMM 😎 jk jk.

With you stats, you won't have to worry about not being URM...you'll definately get in, assuming you don't crash the interview head first.

Just saw this on the website's FAQ and thought it described my freshman year exactly:

My freshman GPA was low because I had a sub-human roommate. After that, my GPA steadily improved. Does the Committee look at trends in GPAs?

Of course they do. Everybody understands that unpleasant roommates, adjustment to college, girl-friend/boy-friend problems, problems at home and a myriad of other things can lead to a disastrous academic performance. Hopefully, it is a temporary problem. Be prepared to discuss any poor academic performance in your personal statement or in an interview.

 Submitting my secondary today. It took me forever. Hoping for the best :xf:
