Just got my waitlist letter today...there goes the dream :/ good luck to the rest of you all!!

Got the waitlist letter in the mail today except the wording was really weird. Rather than outrightly say I was waitlisted, it read "While we are not able to offer you an immediate invitation at this time, we will be reconsidering your application throughout the admissions season"

Goodbye Vandy 🙂

Just got the same letter. Seems a bit late in the season to be making such statements but it is nice they left a little room and for lobbying.

Does Vandy have a lot of waitlist movement now or in May? There seems to be a lot of top applicants deciding between other schools and Vandy...

Does Vandy have AOA and what is the typical class hours like?

just got waitlisted, my identical twin brother got accepted. BRUTAL. Any idea how large Vanderbilt's waitlist pool is?

I can't seem to get my computer to connect to it. Any chance of someone listing out a few of the "unreal" matches? (not a big list...just a couple cool ones)

Sloan Kettering for radiation oncology, Brigham and Womens for IM, Mass Gen for a bunch of different ones, Wash U, bunch of Northwestern. I don't remember which programs go with which (Sloan Kettering and cancer stuck for some reason)

I have the list in front of me but it's a lot to type out. It should up there soon with the rest of them at: https://medschool.vanderbilt.edu/events/match-day

For whatever reason, the favorite specialty of the fourth year class was Emergency Medicine. Only one to Pathology and one to Family Medicine. Three military matches, with one being aerospace medicine. A fair number of Med-Peds.

Urology and Radonc both had extremely strong matches.

Harvard Radonc+Psych couples match is ridic. Huge congrats to them.

Hello,
I am looking for housing near vandy for the months of june and july. Does anyone have a furnished room or something available?
Thank you!
Kiley

Hello all. Current Vandy fourth year, going into radiation oncology. Don't think Vandy has posted their list online, though the broadcast is still available (it's a great watch!).

Hopefully I don't miss anything, although it's reasonably likely. Remember that these lists can be very difficult to interpret, as much of the outcome depends on individual experience and preferences. Please let me know if you have any questions about Vanderbilt. I have loved my time here, and this place has set me up to succeed far better than I could have ever anticipated! Best wishes.

At what point would it be acceptable (if ever for Vanderbilt) to send in a letter of intent? After you get the continued/waitlist letter or after May 15th?

What proportion of Vandy students come from the South vs. do NOT come from the South?

Set on attending next year! (barring unexpected waitlist movement, anyways)

Super psyched for second look 🙂

Me too! I'm 99.9% sure I'm coming here at this point. I hear second look is supposed to be awesome.

I'm wondering the same thing. What are the chances of getting of the wailtist?

Looking at last year's thread, there seemed to be a fair amount of movement in April for both acceptances and scholarships.

Can any current students comment on the different complexes or areas near campus med students tend to live and about how much it costs to live in an apartment, or home etc.. Thank you!

Thanks for the answer.

I finally got my continued "reconsideration" letter and it briefly states to add any "pertinent information" to my file. Is there an individual I should email any updates to or should we mail them to a certain address? An email stated Lindsey would be the person to email to check on the receipt of additional information but nothing about submitting it in the first place.

Let me know if I am missing anything.

this may be a strange question, but is it easy to date at vanderbilt? not trying to come off in the wrong way but are there a lot of medical students in relationships with each other, with other young people in the city, or are a lot of people single?

"we will be reconsidering your application throughout the admissions season"

I think that means they will take it out periodically and laugh at it 🙂

Haha, this is pathetically hilarious. Pretty sure I scared some people in the library when I chuckled out loud.

I'm in the same boat. In the meantime, I'm getting excited about other places that don't laugh at my application in their spare time. 😉

duplicate as above, sorry.

Called the admissions office yesterday to ask about the waitlist.

Basically they do not release how many people are on it or any clues as to where you may be on the waitlist at any time.

You can send a letter of update and interest. They said you can pretty much include whatever you want and it does not matter who you send it to as long as you either mail it to the admissions office in lighthall or email it to the vandy interview email. They will take it into consideration.

As expect they expect most waitlist movement in May but as applicants drop the spots are filled quickly and you will be notifed the day you are taken off the waitlist if yo are selected.

So not really too much extra info but hope it helps.

Is Vanderbilt P/F for only the first year or the first two years? I originally thought it was only P/F the first year, but I heard from a friend recently that it's P/F for the first two...?

I heard it was only for the pre-clinical year which is year 1.

For the incoming class of 2013 (ie you), it is unranked P/F grading for the preclinical year.

Are any of you who are thinking about attending Vandy anxious about being the first class to go through curriculum 2.0? What do you guys think? Really excited about starting clerkships in the second year, but it seems the first year is going to be extremely packed with basic sciences! Also excited about the extra prep time for boards...thoughts?

Thanks!

Both excited and anxious about it. Excited because of condensed curriculum and more time to study for boards but scared because it might affect student happiness and atmosphere for our class. I liked Vandy a lot because the students there seemed super happy but I am worried that this new curriculum might create more stress and change this.

Just a general note--please bring all these questions and concerns to second look and make sure they are answered to your satisfaction. You want to feel comfortable that you are making the right decision so you don't have regrets afterwards.

Also, second look will be a blast, so be prepared to have fun!

Anyone have any advice for someone still on the alternate list? I sent an LOI in about a month ago, but never received confirmation that it was received. In many ways, this is my dream school.
