2013-2014 Dartmouth College (Geisel) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Interviewed here yesterday. Was blown away by the facilities and how friendly all the students I ran into were. The interviews were super low stress, just be familiar with your application and be prepared to be asked about details.

Has anyone gotten an interview here with an MCAT score of 32 or less?

Also interviewed her yesterday; the interviews were very relaxed (and from conferring with other interviewees, highly variable on content). They made it clear that some of the interviews are open and some are closed - but only by interviewer preference.

Also, hi Dylan! I was Stephen.

Anyone know what dates they are giving interviews for? Hoping for something here but somewhat disappointed since they've been going for a while with IIs and I was complete early.

---> 31 (10,11,10)
Congrats!! That gives me some hope! I've been early since early July and I'm a little worried that I've been passed over altogether. I would love to interview at Dartmouth!

Yessir, 31 (10,11,10 as well). Interviewed this week and LOVED it.
Wow!!! I hope I hear some good news too! Although I do feel like I have been passed over, since I've been complete since early July.. Good luck to you!!

Does anyone know why Dartmouth interviews ~20% of their applicants versus other schools often interviewing <10%?

3.6/34 complete late July here and still waiting to hear from Dartmouth. One of my top choices and would love to interview here!

Hey Stephen, I guess there goes my internet anonymity haha. nice meeting you tuesday, I thought that that whole group was pretty rad. Everyone I met I'd be happy to have in my class next year. Hope you made it hope before that second storm hit.

And I have to agree with everyone else: I went from very skeptical about being happy at a place like dartmouth to them being at the top of my list.

On the secondary application, it says that applicants that are not US citizens and US permanent residents are required to submit a copy of a green card. Does this apply to Canadians? I know Dartmouth takes Canadian students but if I live in Canada, how am I supposed to get a green card?

Well, on the application it says "If you have identified yourself to AMCAS as a citizen of a country other than the United States AND a US Permanent Resident". I think it is read as that If you are not a us citizen but you are a us permanent resident, you should supply "green card".

Received a completely unexpected II today:

Submitted September 9

Totally shocked at how quickly they reviewed my application, but I'm thrilled!

Wow. Congrats! That was a pretty fast turn around time. Hopefully that means they saw something they really liked! 👍

Dang Dartmouth, why ya gotta be like that.

Really wasn't expecting this, but I got an II from here today. Super excited!! 🙂 My MCAT was 29 but I am an URM with a lot of interesting work/life experiences!!!

How do people recommend traveling to Geisel from California? Is it better to fly into Boston and take the train? Or should I try and fly the whole way?

Right now it's looking like a red-eye flight with 10-17 hours of travel time 😱

I flew to Boston and took the Dartmouth coach to Hanover, I think it was relatively pain-free and didn't cost nearly as much as flying into Lebanon

fly to Boston, take the Dartmouth coach to Hanover, take the (impressively well operated) public transit to get to your hotel or anywhere else in white river junction, west Lebanon, or Lebanon. It saves a lot of money vs taking a flight from Boston to Lebanon

I know what you mean... I was complete on July 3. However, Dartmouth was always a super-reach for me, so I'm happy to even still be hanging on 🙂laugh: though I'm sure I'll be kicked to the curb once they actually start sending out rejections!).

So whats the deal? Status page says I'm being processed, but no complete email? Should I assume I'm complete or are ya'll basing complete on the email?

I submitted my secondary mid August and got a complete email like last day of August so it takes a bit of time.

Dartmouth plz. Love meeeeeeeeeeeee.

Thank you <3 Hopefully this time next year we can both change our status to medical students 😀

To anyone that got an interview invite here (or rejection, if they've started handing those out), did they change anything on your secondary page? I just tried logging into mine and apparently it no longer exists. Complete since 8/29. Assuming this can't mean anything good..

I just checked and mine is still there. However, this has happened to me with other secondary portals.

Don't sweat it unless it persists for several days.

It has always gone away for me.

My app was doing the same thing (although I expect a rejection coming soon). I use chrome regularly and it auto fills my information, so I thought that might be the issue. I checked my status using IE and it worked fine and showed I'm still under review. Try a different browser. Good luck!

Try using a different browser. My secondary page never changed, even after I received the II email.

Where are you seeing this? When I log in to check the status all it shows is a bunch green circles and says that my secondary has been received.

Thanks guys. It wasn't working in 2 different browsers, but it seems to be fixed. Now I can devote my energy to refreshing my email every 30 seconds once again.

haha..... +1.... every single time I get an Email my heart stops

I'm sorry I may have misspoke (or in this case a mistype?). Mine says "Your secondary application has been received and is in process" right after I log in. I say under review as I did receive the complete email over a month ago.

I have an interview, and my status simply says everything is received... it doesn't say anything about an interview... I only received an email ii

good luck everyone!

Anyone know the deal with sending pre-interview app updates? I'm complete but neither rejected nor invited yet. I got a new job I'd like them to know about.
