Anybody interviewed on 3/10? heard anything?
Yes, I interviewed on 3/10... you arent alone dear... this is just crazy!!!!Are there people who interviewed before 3/17 and haven't heard back? I'm slowly thinking that 14 weeks of silence after my interview means a silent rejection... I want to be hopeful but this silence is so demoralizing 🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

I interviewed in December and still haven't heard...Yes. Interview on 3/3. No news of a status. I've heard through the grapevine that status updates are supposed to be coming soon, but nothing in the inbox yet.
I interviewed in December, with no status updates since then and I already attend RFUMS. I really want to be classmates with all of you so we can have fun learning medicine together

Apologies if this has been answered before (but I couldn't find the answer on a thread search), but what is the grading system here? Pass/Fail? Letter grades?
Great, thanks! Trying to make a decision between schools and it's come down to small things like this.Pass fail. I even just recently looked at my electronic transcript grades and all it says is P down the list. There are letter grades for your rotations in your 3rd and 4th years though.

Hey guys I've been accepted to two medical schools this cycle, Rosalind Franklin and West Virginia and am trying to decide which to attend within the next couple of days. I'm a "non-traditional" student who is considerably older than most incoming students after a career change. I have some ties to the state of West Virginia but most of my family now lives in Florida so essentially both are going to be "out of state" for me and location does not matter.
I've been told that the probation problems at CMS are nothing to worry about for residency or medical student life but I was wondering if other medical students at CMS believe that this is symptomatic of a generally poorly run administration? I ask this because as I was researching both schools I noticed that ironically the dean of Chicago Medical School left to become dean of West Virginia Medical School in 2010. He is also the chair-elect of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. Am I worrying too much about the wrong things? I tend to be very thorough before making a decision and it just seems strange to me that he left and then CMS was on probation again for the second time since 2004. I understand that mistakes are made and that stupid things get schools put on probation. But is there any acceptable reason for a school to be put on probation twice within a ten year time frame?
If I'm crazy and worrying about wrong things, feel free to correct me. As I mentioned, admissions reps have explained to me there is nothing to worry about on student end, but I think it is their job to do that and would love hear what any current students think about the situation.
West Virginia has its own University Hospital System and is not on probation. RFU doesn't and is on probation. Dude, the choice is clear. pick RFU.
??? sarcasm?

I don't think it is symptomatic of anything based on my experience. The administration is extremely supportive of the students, and I have always felt they have been there when I've needed anything in my time here.
That said, if it really bothers you that much, and you think it would continue to bother you during your time here (it seems as though it upsets you much more than it ever upset me), I think you have your decision. You don't want something bothering you at the back of your mind while you're here, there's just no time for that. Best of luck in your decision. And feel free to message me if you have any other questions about the school that will help you make your decision.
Sorry about being sarcastic; it's finals week. But really, I would pick RFU over WV. I mean, look, it has better weather, great neighborhood atmosphere, diverse food options, a bustling city center... West Virginia can only dream.
It is a bit worrisome that CMS has been on probation 2 times in the last decade or so. But it's all about where you see yourself fitting.Hey guys I've been accepted to two medical schools this cycle, Rosalind Franklin and West Virginia and am trying to decide which to attend within the next couple of days. I am in the exact same position. I was small pooled back in October and it has been complete silence since then. No II, no rejections... I have given up hope, I think we are experiencing a silent rejection 🙁I'm sorry if this has been answered, but I haven't been on here in a while.
Anyone not get an interview but not get rejected either? Why haven't they just rejected yet?
TIA!

I would say that you are worrying about the wrong things. Administrative BS issues like locker spaces and the wording in our by-laws about who gets to vote it committees (another reason we are on probation) shouldn't change your decision. That stuff doesn't change your day-to-day life as a med student. The things that should matter, and the criteria you should use to make a (very tough) decision in my humble opinion deal more with 1) how you fit in as far as the culture of the school- did it feel like home when you were interviewing? How did the other students interact with each other (friends/teammates vs competition) and 2) the quality of the experience- not having a hospital system and thus getting to experience healthcare across a diversity of settings is what drove me to this school. And I wouldn't change my decision if I had to do it again.
Please forgive me if this post is weird in any way- I spent 10 hours in the OR today and will be going to sleep shortly after hitting the "post reply" button
current students like to poo poo over the probation but its a real issue that should not be ridiculed.
We absolutely get that. But we are currently living it, and it isn't all that big of a deal anymore. They hired a new dean that literally does nothing but fix schools that are on probation for a living. And it in no way impacts our daily lives as students, and as our 2014 match list shows, has little if any effect on residency applications. That's why we all seem so nonchalant about it.
