To those accepted: when did you guys have an interview???
 
So the only thing we can get out of being on hold is to possibly get on the alternate list? Does anybody ever have any success with that?

From what students were saying at the interview day, there is actually a lot of movement on the alternate list.

Wait what exactly does "alternate list" mean??

I got the status update email as well but it still doesn't show on iapply.
 
Got put on hold today. Probably going to withdraw my application - I surprisingly didn't really like the school when I interviewed here and I think that came across in my interviews. Hopefully it helps someone get bumped up on the wait list and move closer to acceptance. Good luck and congratulations to everyone!

Got an II this morning to both UT and CT! I'm OOS with a LizzyM of ~75 and was complete 8/29. For UT, interview dates were available as early as next week and went through February. CT interview dates were a bit more sparse, with the earliest being in mid-November.
 
Rejected from CT pre-interview. Stings a bit, but I am honestly happy for all those who have gotten interviews and acceptances.
 
For some reason I can't access the applicant portal on my phone and I have an interview for UT tomorrow. Can anyone let me know when and where the interview day starts? Also, where do I park?
 
Not sure where you park (I didnt drive to mine). But it starts at 8:15 in the admissions office which is on the third floor of the School of Medicine Building (the big brick building with the clock-tower)

The address for the school of medicine building is 2109 Adelbert Road Cleveland, OH 44106, it is right next to the Rainbow childrens hospital. The person in the lobby will be able to guide you to the admissions office. You're supposed to park in the parking garage (Veale Park Garage) located on Adelbert road a little further up and across the street from the School of Medicine. Good luck!
 
Such a nice admissions committee!! I was able to move both my interviews because I was silly and scheduled them the day before finals... I'm so excited to visit!
 
Does anyone know the cheapest place to stay around here...i have to spend the weekend - only way i could get cclm and cwru at the time

Did you look at the host list? You should find out if you can stay with a student host. Can't beat free.
 
I have a few questions regarding CCLCM (I know there are a few posters who are either alumni or current students!)...

First, is it going to be a major uphill battle if I'm not published? I submitted a second author manuscript a few months ago, and we are waiting to hear back, but it has yet to be accepted. I have several poster and oral presentations though, a few of which are first author. Is that okay, or I am still at a big disadvantage for gaining admission to CCLCM?

Second, I have been involved with three different research labs throughout college. One was only a summer internship after my freshman year of college, so while I can certainly speak in broad strokes about my project and what it was hoping to accomplish, I don't know very many details because it was three years ago and I wasn't there for very long. In my other two experiences, I've had extensive independence and autonomy over the projects, and can speak in significant detail about the literature and my results. The problem is that my summer internship was my only biomedical research, and my other two experiences have been neuroscience and chemistry. Should I figure out a way to speak more intelligently about my first experience since it's the most medically relevant?

I'm sure CCLM students/alumni can better answer this, but IMO they just want to see you have experience doing & understanding how to do basic science research... I don't think it's important that it's biomedical or super, directly "medically relevant"
 
Has anyone else received an email invitation to do a phone interview for CCLM? Also does anyone have any info on how slim the chance of an in person interview from it are? Thanks 🙂

I didn't know they did those! Are you outside the U.S. or anything right now?
 
Does anyone know when the next batch of acceptances is going to be released? I haven't seen the admissions twitter account say anything about upcoming committee meetings

Interviewed here recently. For the most part, I would be able to talk about all of your research experiences in broad strokes. For the most part though, when asking for details about a research project they let me pick which project I wanted to talk about. They didn't grill me on super specifics. My interview group had a broad range of research experiences in different fields.

Perfect, thank you so much!! Although I didn't expect this when I was initially applying, I think CCLCM has become my top choice school.... As long as I still love it after I visit, of course! It's just that everything I read about it sounds incredible. I can't wait to go, and I certainly don't want to mess up my chances! I appreciate your insight, and best of luck to you too! 🙂

I have the same feelings as you! I guess I didn't expect to get an interview either since it's such an outstanding school. As long as it lives up to the hype it sounds pretty incredible!

The College Track occasionally does phone interviews. I don't have any info on how it affects your chances of an in-person interview.

Hi there! Sorry this is off topic from what you just posted, but do you happen to know when the next wave of acceptances will come out?
 
I interviewed at Case and expected them to be great but left surprised at just how impressed I was with the entire program. Does anyone have an idea as to what size scholarships they give out if you happen to be lucky and receive a merit scholarship?

The most I've seen mentioned is previous years is $25K and only a quarter of those who are invited to apply get any scholarship from what I understand, so I wouldn't put much hope into getting it. It is one of the more expensive medical schools even if you are lucky to get a scholarship.
 
How early is appropriate to start emailing the school about financial aid,..I'm guessing I'll have better luck getting a nicer package earlier than later? I've been accepted and am 90% certain I'll be attending. I haven't received any word from the financial aid office yet.
 
You can't even apply for financial aid until January, so I can't imagine you will be hearing before then.
Are you looking for specifics or just general budget? They usually post the budget info on the website.

If it is the same as previous years, merit scholarship applications are given out with the acceptances.

However, this could have changed.

It sounds like you have a lot of research experience, which means you should be fine from that standpoint. Publications are certainly not a requirement for admission to CCLCM. If all other things were equal of course having publications would be better, but you should have a fair shot at the school regardless.

I would agree with this. Regarding the experiences, it would be best to pick the one that you feel was your most substantive and meaningful project, even if it wasn't the most medically relevant. In fact, not everyone comes in having experience with basic science research - there are other types of research too!

Exactly. Your interviewers are highly educated and intelligent people, but may not have domain-specific knowledge pertaining to your research projects in particular, and this should be the audience you address when thinking about how to best explain your experiences.

Yes 🙂 extremely possible. If you're taking the train, it'll take about 45 minutes to get to the airport, which is not long at all!
