I am not able to answer this question because I only checked my status online once and it said it was under review...and then I got the email.

I went to tour the College yesterday and they don't reject people right away, usually the app goes on hold to be seen again, and its repeatedly seen until they are no longer offering interviews, and they have a very holistic view of the app, they open the AMCAS and the secondary on two different windows and look at both of them at the same time! So good news I guess!!!

Does anyone have any insight into if George Washington has mandatory lectures? I know they revamped the curriculum starting this year, but I haven't exactly been able to find what that means.

Also, the grading scheme is H/P/F, right?

I sent an in the area notice a couple weeks ago via email since I'll be interviewing at Georgetown, and I was told to submit it as an update. I did and haven't heard anything about it yet.

Probably gonna just chalk this one up as a a hold/reject

I agree. I'm strongly considering not completing and submitting this secondary and fee.

I feel hesistant about applying to GW as well bc it's a school with the lowest acceptance rate. For Fall 2013, 1.6% were accepted (source). There's something about handing out secondaries before looking at a verified AMCAS app and charging $125. To me, it's unethical to profit from so many hopefuls that will not be accepted.

If the admissions committee spends an average of five man hours on each applicant that is only $25 per hour. This doesn't take into account the cost of running the admissions office: phones, Internet, etc. Five man hours could evaporate in thirty minutes of ten people discussing an applicant.

I disagree. This is more about not having your file on hand before sending an automatic secondary and charging more than most other medical schools for the service.

And, other schools actually screen pre-secondary (that receive lots of apps), so I doubt that it's a question of compensating salaried office staff for "extra time" when it's basically a part of their job.

One could argue they send the secondary early to allow you to work on it as your application is verified. There is a certain amount of self-selection that should be occurring. Georgetown for example publishes their admissions criteria and guidelines that they themselves use. If you (general) read about a school and don't fit what they are looking for, don't apply.

When were you complete? They won't begin to review your file until the letters are in, so submission date means nothing.

I submitted on 7/8, was complete on 7/17, and have your same status. Three weeks in means nothing.

I like Georgetown. I even applied to their SMP last year. Every time I've talked with them it's been a good experience.

GWU were less than pleasant to deal with... I just get a bad vibe from them.

I can totally relate to that! There is a school that I applied to that I get a very bad vibe from. However, if they are the only school that accepts me, I will be attending.

I did not get put on hold before my II. But it seems like some people who were on hold do end up getting interviews.
