2014-2015 Indiana University Application Thread

I got receipt of primary on August 6th and still haven't heard anything....

Was verified by IU 7/17 and got secondary 8/28. So, be patient. Their system, even though not as intense as UCSF, is similar...it means they DO go through your stuff before secondary (almost like II, unless there are last min "negative" surprise).

So does that mean you were selected for an interview? IU only gives you a secondary when they give you an interview date, correct?

For those in the same situation, I have an update on my acceptance letter. I mailed it in a week ago and they've just today updated my portal reflecting that they received it, so that provides some additional peace of mind. My background check was completed, and I released it, on the same day but has yet to have its status updated in the portal.

Anybody else get an email today from financial aid that begins with:
"Dear IUSM Class of 2019 Accepted Student:
Congratulations! on your recent acceptance to the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM)"?

Not sure if this was sent out prematurely or if it's some sort of mistake in their system.

I would be shocked if you heard anything. I interviewed very early September.

Lucky!! I didn't get one! Ima go cry now!
Interviewed early September

Oh wow, I interviewed in Oct. 1st. and Im OOS, so im assuming mine will take a long time! Good luck to everyone and congrats to the accepted students!!

Well, darn. I really thought I might have a shot at an acceptance from Indiana this week, but I didn't get that email. 🙁 Interviewed in early September.

Just got an II here...question (this might have been answered but I REALLY don't want to go through all the pages)...if we already submitted letters to IU, do we need to resubmit them? Also, I previously submitted 4 letters, how do I designate which ones are the science, non-science, and personal??

I just got an II Here too and I'm really confused about the secondary... So everyone need a letter from the dean of their school? Not like a prehealth dean?

Hi, no i think they already got them all. They will select based upon the reviewer i think. I sent 3 and my chekcs for each appeared without me selecting anything.

Yes, it's the dean of the school, if your school happens to have a pre-health dean who also happens to be the dean of the school then its fine. otherwise it must be the dean of the school

Anyone still waiting to hear back on a secondary, I called yesterday (as I myself have been waiting since August 13th) and they said they were simply backed up as they have had a near record number of applicants.

I just received a rejection email. The receipt of my application was acknowledged by Indiana University on August 13th.

Accepted!! Received my letter in the mail today 🙂 I interviewed on 9/3, and I live just outside Indy, so the letter got to me very quickly.

Best of luck to everyone who is interviewing this month!
Congrats!! Do you know when your status changed to "under consideration?"

Question: did you receive the finaid email earlier this week?

Thank you! I don't think it was very long after I interviewed. I was "under review" for maybe a week after 9/3, and then it changed to "under consideration" - which is still what it says, btw.

Acceptance letter came in the mail today. I did receive the early financial aid email on Tuesday.

Are you in state or out of state? I am wondering if the email only got sent to in state applicants?

Congrats to you both!! Do you two know when your statuses changed to "under consideration?"

Can't remember the significance of "under consideration", but I was marked complete on 7/9 and II on 8/1

the "under consideration" status came on the portal after your interview was complete

I was invited to interview here recently. I've been looking through the Indiana website, but I'm having trouble understanding how the regional campuses work. If students are placed at a regional campus, do they complete only the first 2 years there? After that, are students assigned to any clinical site? I noticed from the web site that some campuses, like Evansville, offer 3rd and 4th year clerkships. So, do students remain at their assigned campus for all four years, unless it's stated that 3rd or 4th year is not offered?

I would appreciate any explanations! Thank you!

Also, does anyone know what dates are being offered for the interview? I'm trying to get the Dean's letter for the disciplinary action, and I don't have access to the interview scheduling yet. A general month would be very helpful. Thanks!

I have no idea how all of the campuses work but I received an II last week and this morning I received an email telling me that I will interview on November 12th. They don't give you an option to schedule it, they just pick a date for you so just wait for that. It says they will give you 2-4 weeks notice. All you can do is pick your first choice for interview site on the applicant portal. I'm going to call make sure the Dean's letter and the legal disclosure form were received by them and that I'm all good to go because they don't like to send any confirmations.
