Sooooooo... If I was complete on 07/07 and still havn't heard a word, what do you think this means?

I'm kind of assuming I've been placed on hold or something, still a bit frustrating to say the least.

Waiting is no fun. I was technically finished 7/2 but they didn't receive my MCAT score until 7/15, so I'm still waiting.

I'm in the same position as you! Complete 7/7 and haven't heard anything

Just got my secondary this morning! For the courses section, did anyone put any upper level courses?

Haven't heard anything yet... submitted 5 hours after the two week deadline. Got secondary 7/1 3pm and submitted 7/15 8pm. Do you guys think that might have an impact?

I submitted mine around 7/2 but my application was "complete" (waiting for mcat scores) around 7/15. Haven't heard anything yet either. I would just be patient, though it's tough to do.

Yeah, it seems like they sent out a small clump of IIs a couple of weeks ago and it's been silent ever since.

If you receive an II does it show up on the communication status online? Or do you get an email only?

Do you think its bad that in response to the "What area of medicine do you envision yourself in?" question, I responded that I'm not sure which specialty I'd like to pursue, but that I'd like to serve as an attending in an urban teaching hospital and then talked about why.

It doesn't line up with their mission, so there's that. I did the same thing. I'm not holding my breath for them.

Do you think it doesn't line up with their mission in the sense thats its not primary care or because Quinnipiac is not in an urban location?

It's best to be honest.

I stupidly did this with Eastern Virginia too. Told them I want to work in an urban teaching hospital. You think that'll be an instrant rejection as well....since its not exactly an urban school?

Evms is a pretty urban school, Norfolk isn't exactly the prettiest location.

Yah I mean I was very honest, but I think it might be my downfall. I feel like these smaller suburban schools want students who fit in with their particular culture

I talked about wanting to do a specialty and about my desire to do global health. I got an early interview. I think it is about being honest and being open to new ideas as well.

Like everyone said - be honest. It's going to show through if you say that you want to be a PCP, but none of your ECs show that, and you can't really talk about it during an interview. Besides, I know it's early to think about this, but would you really want to go to a school that rejects you because you are open to new experiences (outside of their emphasis)?

Calm down. It is what it is. Most schools know that not everyone they interview will fulfill their mission. Though it's way harder to get an academic gig going to a new school like QU vs an established institution.

I think being honest is still best because you will get caught up in your own bs in an interview.

Doesn't mean auto reject. You're in a better spot if you can back up a claim like 'academic medicine' with research experience, shadowing, or clinical work. Otherwise they'll wonder how you got to that conclusion.

Haha ok thanks. I'm mainly curious because my first reposnse of season was a reject from The Commonwealth in PA. I'm a PA resident with stats above their averages and went to Duke, so I was just tryna figure out if they rejected me for a similar "bad fit" reason. It was supposed to be my last resort fall back (if that even exists) and became my first rejection hahahaha. Got me scared

Sorry about that, I am losing my focus with all of these secondaries. Still really love Connecticut, and hoping Quinnipiac can show me some love! Future peds/ped psych

Question: Did you guys wait for all of your LORs to be in before you submitted this secondary? Because my essays, everything is already finished, but I'm afraid to submit without all the LORS

I waited here since it seemed to say that.

/sigh my letter writers are both having some issues on their end, all I can do is play the waiting game...

My letter packet has 5 letters in them and Quinnipiac only requires four...should I try to figure out how to send them individually or just send all five and specify which ones to read in an email?

Thank you!

Letters are used to assess an applicant’s motivation and suitability for medical school and a career as a physician from both an academic and character perspective. Applicants have two options to complete the letters of recommendation requirement:
  • A packet from the applicant’s undergraduate or post-baccalaureate prehealth or premedical office, or a career services office
  • Four individual letters, two of which must be from science faculty members
This was taken directly from their webpage at (http://www.quinnipiac.edu/academics...l-of-medicine/admissions/application-process/). Please check admissions websites before posting questions like this. This information clearly states that a packet, regardless of number of letters, is acceptable.

Was anyone able to add letters to their file after submitting their secondary? I didn't know this school required 4 (oops didn't read) and so I only sent my secondary in with 3

Anyone get away with sending a composite letter? This seems to be the only school that doesn't accept them (or at least doesn't state it)

I sent an email to their admission office and asked them if they would hold my application until I am able to send a fourth letter. Angela in admissions said that it would be no problem.

Now I guess I have to write her back in a week or two to let her know my second letter is available. :-/

I guess that's what I'm going to have to do lol 🙁

Flying in Saturday for a Monday interview. Would anyone like to meet up and explore? Message me if you are interested.

Interviewed on Monday. The place is gorgeous and everyone is really, really nice from the faculty to the security officer at the front desk. Interviews are very conversational, non intimidating, and the interviewers easy to speak with. Both of my interviews went extra time simply because the interviewer and I were so mutually engrossed in the topics we were discussing. A positive experience for sure.

Note of interest: Almost fainted when I saw the anatomy lab, and that almost every classroom / study room wall was a functionally working white board. B-e-a-utiful.

I wanted to pass my experience forward, I hope it helps. Good luck to everyone applying here. I think you will love it as much as I did. I am waiting anxiously for October, to say the least!
