2014-2015 Rutgers University - Robert Wood Johnson Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats everyone! I interviewed mid September and have not heard a peep. This doesn't bode well, but I hope some instate love comes my way as well.

Anyone know when we are supposed to get the official package/email?

she said that next week they're sending out official email and postage of an acceptance and there's an accepted student reception on January 9th

yeah ngl zoned out for most of the call out of happy delirium, just heard January 9 something something

same here, I heard the january 9 reception, but I completely forgot to ask about when the actual packages would be sent out hahaha

Lol I zoned out after the actual acceptance and the call was breaking up but I heard about the January 9 reception as well. Hope I see all of you there.

Is there going to be more calls?

Dr. Terregino sounded like she was swamped with calls when I talked to her, so I am sure she will make some more. If she's the only one making the calls then it'll take some time, she's only one human.

I'm so incredibly happy for you guys!!! Great job!!!

Just a question, was the call from a blocked number or a Jersey number?

I got accepted as well on 12/4. I was so ecstatic when she called me. Interviewed early November. Such a relief.

So all the calls were for interviews before early nov?

I know two people who interviewed in November who got accepted

Hi, everyone. I'm a little embarrassed to ask this here (as many of you have already received II's and acceptances -- congrats!), but what is the deadline for secondary apps for RWJMS? I didn't find this information on their MD admission website. Their email states that recommendations are due February 1, 2015, but I wasn't sure if Feb. 1st is also the secondary deadline. Thank you very much in advance!

I think Dec. 1 for this cycle

for my fellow accepted colleagues....do we have to maintain certain GPAs before matriculating, or can we let them dip? any ideas? (senioritis is hitting me hard...) thanks!

I think Dec. 1 for this cycle
Thank you for the response, but I thought Dec. 1st was their primary application deadline (not secondary)?

EDIT: Ah, I see that it is February 1st on MSAR. Thank you again, and good luck to everyone!

Accepted 12/4 interviewed in October. Got all the supplemental information via email this morning, there is no mention of a deposit to secure our spot- does anyone know if there is one or do we need to just send in the email/letter accepting to hold our place?

I called and checked there is no deposit just a letter to accept our seat and the attached forms.

also, when is the first day of classes? just curious. boss wants me to work through June but I'd love to have at least a month off...

haha does someone want to email one of the SARS program leaders about the fb group? do they start it or what

From what I heard, the SARS program leaders start it.

I say we wait a week and then start our own!

theyre may be waiting for the second round of phone calls to go out on dec 15

Just received confirmation from someone that a current RWJMS student will start an official one! Maybe we can ask one of the program leaders?

Hi everyone! Congrats to all those who have been accepted to Rutgers RWJMS (and good luck to those who have yet to hear)! Here is the official facebook page for the Class of 2019. Please post any questions about RWJ on the group and the SARS members will happily reply. We've also uploaded the list of tour guides if you're interested in learning about more specific information. Hope to see everyone at the Winter Reception!

Congrats to everyone with acceptances here so far!! I have an interview coming up at RWJMS and have a few questions that maybe some of you guys might have answers to:

1) Does RWJMS do any student hosting for interviewees? I didn’t see anything about that and was wondering if I should start looking for a hotel and possible means of transportation.

2) Does anyone from the area know what the average price range of a mediocre 1 bedroom apartment in areas that students might choose/want to live?

3) Does anyone happen to know more details about the potential merit and/or need-based scholarship opportunities at RWJMS such as how/when they are awarded?

Thanks!

1. i dont know about the student hosting, i live 10 mins away from the med school so yea....
2. 1 bedroom with no roommates - i would say 700-1000. the cheapest living situation i know of in the area is renting a bedroom in a house which is usually around 500. when i interviewed, i was told that there is no 'standard' place that students live. ppl are usually spread around new brunswick/piscataway area and that changes as ppl get to 3/4 yr depending on where their rotations are. There are also the grad dorms by rutgers that are now being offered to RWJMS students - i dont know the cost
3. rwjms has a whole page of links dedicated to scholarship and fellowship opportunities but alot of them seem to be for current students, but if u comb through, you might be able to find some for accepted/incoming students. other than that i only know of the chancellor scholarship at the end of the secondary. i think they also mention alumni sponsored scholarships at the interview day.

Thanks for the helpful info, @gshocke! That's awesome that you currently live so nearby the med school already, it seems like a nice area. I have read about the Chancellor’s Scholarship, it does seem amazing..especially with the opportunity to do the year of advanced study. I was just asking the question about scholarships mainly if anyone happened to know about any other possible opportunities that might exist to help a bit with the cost of attendance for incoming students, I know some schools have potential things for selected OOS people, etc. Understandably, they might not exist for all I know. Would love to go to the RWJMS nonetheless!
