Hi everyone! I'm new to SDN, but just wanted to let you guys know that I'm cancelling my interview for UKY for November 8th. So, if anyone wants an earlier slot, check out the schedule tonight!

Thanks! Sure, I don't mind at all! I'm halfway out the door, so to briefly recap my actual interviews, I had two great interviewers who mostly asked about my activities and we just had a conversation for the most part. They were both very friendly and seemed to just want to get to know me a little bit better as a person. As for the actual day, we were introduced to all of the interviewers in one room at the start and then we were slowly called out to our two interviews, and some people had some downtime in between. Afterwards, we had lunch with some current students (M1s I think?) who answered our questions and then took us on the campus tour. We got to see some of the new hospital, the lecture halls, anatomy lab (there were students actually working and studying in there, so that was an incredible experience), and some other rooms like the student lounge! Overall it was a very friendly and exciting day -- my interview group was great, too! Sorry this is so brief -- I'll try to add on later if I think of anything, and I'm happy to answer any specific questions you have.

Do they let more than the scheduled amount of interviews come or something? Because most slots max out at 15-16 people per date. Just wondering if it's worthwhile to stay as a waitlist on an interview date or if I should give up and move my spot to February

I don't know if they can let in extra, I was just stating a ballpark estimate. I didn't notice the slot numbers when registering, but if that's what they have on there then I would assume that that's the limit.

If I'm on the wait list for a specific interview day, how will I know if I get an actual spot on that day? I can't tell just by looking at my reservation. It just says "1 waiting", but doesn't say if that's me or not.

I'm an M1 at UK so my interview was a year ago, but I can tell you that my experience on interview day was one of the reasons I decided to come here. I found the entire staff and the current students I interacted with to be incredibly friendly, inviting, and enthusiastic about the school. I had two faculty interviewers and both put me at ease. It was relaxed and conversational. They both asked me the standard questions like why medicine, why UK, etc. The rest was just a conversation about my experiences, and they had clearly carefully read my application. What I really liked was how they also talked about how the programs at their school could benefit me based on my interests, like they genuinely wanted me to come (no other interviews I had did this). My advice is to know your application well (primary and secondary) and try to relax and be yourself as much as you can.

Sorry for the longwinded answer. On a completely different note, I just want to say that I am very happy I did come here. I think the staff, my fellow students, and the opportunities available to students here are incredible. If anyone has any questions for a first year student, I'm happy to answer them as best I can. Reading SDN makes a good study break 🙂

I interviewed in early October (accepted!) and I found that my first interviewer grilled me a bunch on my app while my second interviewer asked me very open ended questions about myself that allowed me to steer the interview in any direction, which was nice. I agree that they are definitely interested in getting to know you so just be yourself, but also be ready to answer anything about your app of course!

Also got accepted! Interviewed on 10/21. They called me on the 30th, I love how quick they are. Still a small possibility I could go somewhere, but I'm pretty sure this is where I want to go. It was an amazing school and I was really impressed by the faculty I met. I'm from BYU. Any other BYU students get accepted?

Interviewed here yesterday. It was probably the least stressful interview I have had so far. Both interviewers were faculty, each lasted about 20-30 minutes. I felt like they genuinely wanted to get to know me. We are supposed to hear back next week! 🙂

Try going through the admission committee member list and see if any of those names sounds familiar to you. And then google the name and check out their photos..

Would it be a good idea to send an email to the admissions office letting them know that I am going to be in the area and do you think it will increase my chances of being pulled off the wait list and given a slot?

I would say it can't hurt to let the admissions office know that you live in town and can be available at short notice for an interview.

I got mine in the mail. I was accepted early decision so that may have made a difference when I received mine. It was 1-2 weeks after I got the call if I remember correctly.

Historically, I think the class does tend to fill towards the end of December or in early January. That said, there will be movement from the waitlist, particularly in the spring as people with multiple acceptances make their decisions.

I would let them know. When I was there they had recently had people cancel interviews because they had received other acceptances, so they might be able to squeeze you in.

Had to call them this morning as I received no call, but found out I got in from 11/4 interview. So anyone who didn't get called just call them instead

I talked to Admissions this morning and was told that the committee meeting ended pretty late yesterday, so they probably didn't have time to call all the applicants about their decisions. So if you are supposed to hear back this week, don't hesitate to give them a call! Official letters will be sent out through snail mail on Monday.

hi guys! i have a Nov. 22nd interview, and i am flying in. i am wondering if it is hard to get a cab ride to the airport after i am done interviewing. Should i call ahead of time to make an appointment for pickup? which cab company do you suggest?
