2015-2016 Case Western Reserve University Application Thread

Ugh I was hoping tomorrow haha.... why tweet out that you're having the meeting if you're going to sit on the decisions for a month

Yeah really... Maybe last year was different. I know last year people who interviewed October 8th got a decision on the 15th, and that definitely wasn't the case this year, so maybe the time line is different.

College track rejection. It was my top choice this year... so sad 🙁

Not the "Case" 😉

Got an email this morning saying that my status on iApply has changed, but when I checked, nothing changed... Anyone get a similar email?

Had you interviewed? Did you apply to University or College or both?

I'll be interviewing in a few weeks. I applied to both, but was rejected from College when logged in to check my II to the UT program. I think the email was from the admissions director of the College program. Maybe they just forgot to send me an email after they rejected me a few weeks ago?

Yeah that's why I asked. I had the same thing happen to me. I guess the "check your iApply" emails are not sent automatically and they just forgot to do it for a few weeks.

II complete mid july! Anyone know the cheapest way to get there from Chicago? Megabus?

Megabus is for sure the cheapest, but it's a long trip, and you won't get back to Chicago till like 1AM. Flying is usually around $200, I usually fly from Chicago to Cleveland.

Loved Case!!! I hope recent interviewees from this week don't have to wait too long. Hoping you all from early October hear back soon!

And anyone with upcoming interview here: don't worry, it's relatively relaxed compared with other schools and the admissions staff are super funny and fun to be around!

+1. Best interview day I've had out of my three so far.

I'm interviewing on the 11/2 and staying a few days in Cleveland, anyone down to chill from 10/31 - 11/3?

Does anyone still have the application status that says:

Application Submission Status: SUBMITTED including PAYMENT

Does anyone know how many students are placed on the alternate list from the hold? It says they accept like 600 students to fill the class so wouldn't a good portion come from the hold/alternate status?

Per the flowchart they gave at the interview day you can be rejected without being on a hold

Oh yeah you're right, they did say that. On last year's thread I don't think I saw anyone get rejected post-interview, just holds.

Like 45-50% are accepted, I think. The rest are waitlisted, no one is straight up rejected till the end.

Did they say this to you? Some faculty member who was on the adcom years ago told us in passing that 1/3 was accepted, but he might have been using dated information. I hope 45-50% is true.

No, they didn't =/ I think I read it on last year's thread so it could definitely be inaccurate.

If you look on US world news report it will tell you the number of offers given, off the top of my head I don't know but I think it's higher than 50%

^And thus my inquiry about the hold status post interview. You would think a lot of people would get an acceptance after being on hold if over 50% of all interviewees are accepted

Does anyone know Case's turn around from interview to decision? I totally forgot to ask and they didn't tell us at my interview! Also, anyone know if they accept post-interview updates?

Anyone have stats on what percent of students get merit scholarships after being invited to apply?

Does anyone know if breakfast is provided on the day of the interview? If not, are there coffee shops near the admissions office we can grab something?

They provide pastries and coffee. There's a Starbucks in the BRB building, when you walk in the front door go up the steps and it's on your right.

There's also an Einstein in Rainbow Babies and in one of the undergrad buildings (Nord) across the street.

It's really quick. I interviewed in late September and found out on the 15th.

so then the updates are seen at the messages section? Ive been complete since 7/16 and nothing has changed

You'll get an email for any updates and a message pops up in the portal with an official II letter if and when you get one.

I interviewed in the very beginning of October and still haven't heard anything! Have October people heard? Anxiously awaiting an answer from Case...

Interviewed on 10/9 and haven't heard anything, but they definitely reviewed us last Monday and a decision has probably been made. So nerve-wracking! I would not object if someone volunteered to call and ask when we will hear 😉.

I volunteer you! Hahaha

I am so, so tempted to do it  I just don't want to screw up my chances. But then again, I called Cincinnati twice about my post-interview status and still got accepted...

Don't disclose your name. Say you're an applicant who interviewed in October. They ask for information? Hang up. Hahahaha. Or it's a good thing that you're showing interest.

LOL I was thinking the same thing about hanging up if they asked for my name. But what if they like traced my phone number? Too bad pay phones are no longer a thing hahaha
