I really really liked it. Everyone there, from the kids in my interview group to the faculty to the current students were all super friendly and talkative. The facilities all looked very pristine and new. The clinical skills center in particular was really nice, seemed like a great place to be

Interviews were closed, one with faculty, one with a med student, each for 25 min. There isn't any rigid structure, they really just let you talk and ask you a few questions. I basically just went over the major stuff on my app and talked about pertinent experiences, stories, etc. Very laid back, relatively low stress

Did they give you any idea of when you would hear back? How long did the entire day last?
 
They told us 8-10 weeks, which is kind of a while actually haha but they do get tons of apps, so it makes sense.
The whole day was pretty short. About 9:00-1:30 or so, depending on interview times.
 
"Your file is under review." as of today. Complete since 09/09 3.71/514

I don't know if this is the step before being put on hold? I haven't been able to find a clear answer on this thread.

Edit: I found my answer after some digging. It looks like people find out if they get an II or if they're put on hold a few days after this status change?

If I interviewed here in mid september, can I expect that I'll have a notice about my acceptance stance as of Oct. 15?

looking at last year's thread i think you can expect to hear back between oct 15 and end of oct 🙂

yes, the page was helpful. since it's closed-file, you can pretty much lead the interview based on the info you provide, especially when they ask "Tell me about yourself". they're only 25min each, so the interview will end before you know it!
 
On hold for re-review 🙁 complete first week of August.
 
Has anyone on hold submitted an update through the portal and subsequently received an II?

II this morning! first one of the cycle. Interview for November 6

Same, except complete early August. Wondering what it means, since most people seem to either be placed on hold once reviewed or extended an II.
 
I know this may have been asked before..but do people ever get a II after hold for re-review?
 
Completed the secondary on 9/1 but my status still says:

Your file is now complete. At this point we have received all the necessary credentials including your secondary application and your letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. While the committee works diligently to review applications in a timely manner, please be aware that in order to do a thorough review of your file it may be sometime until you hear from us again. We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process. Please feel free to update your file during this time using the GW Admissions Portal.

is this normal? is this "under review" status or before?

Definitely normal but you'll likely receive the "under review" status within the next 1-2 weeks which will be quickly followed by either an II or a hold.
 
I am put on hold as well...
Does "on hold" means silent rejection? No hope at all?

There is totally hope still! In August people were taken off hold for an II. It just means that they liked your application enough to not reject it, and they want to review it again at a later time.

Thank you for saying that! I completed my application in early August and have been on hold for a while. It was surprise to me that GW even sent an advertisement email to me after putting me on hold.

GW is one of my top choices. I won't lose hope!

I hope this is the case. Has anyone been rejected post-secondary yet?
 
They havent sent out rejections yet...so I do fear all these holds will soon turn to rejections. I think I'll look at last years thread today..LOL
 
Does anyone have an idea of how many acceptances GW sends out? I believe MSAR says they interview ~1100 and class size is ~180.

I would like to know this too. I have heard that it's generally ~2x the class size

I just looked into this now. Here's what I found from a few reliable sources (data from 2014):


~11,000 applicants
~1,100 interviews
300 accepted
177 matriculate

Average matriculated student: 3.7 GPA / 31 MCAT
 
Put on hold at some point within the past week, just checked the portal. LizzyM ~72
 
Anyone else with an II receive an "Information request" email?

It was a request to send the admissions office a "letter of good standing" from my graduate program.
 
Hmm ok, not currently enrolled in school so maybe that's why I didn't receive anything?
