2015-2016 Howard University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you do end up sending a letter of interest, I would try to send it directly to an adcom. I sent mine to the email address in my complete email in January and never heard back.
Do you happen to know of an email address we can send letters to? I can't seem to find it online.

I am wondering the same thing. Do you know the email address I can send it to because right now all I have is the main email address of their admissions office that they sent the secondary application from.

Hey Everyone!

I am a current med student at Howard! I just wanted to drop in and say congrats on all the acceptances so far and best of luck to everyone still going through the process. I know the waiting game is absolutely terrible, and this website doesn't help much sometimes lol. Either way if you have any questions you can message me. I can't promise I will have all the answers, but I remember being in your shoes and would have loved for a current student to reach out. Good vibes sent all around!
Hi, I have a question. Does Howard usually have a spots even at month of June. My interviewer told me that Howard usually has spots avaliable every year even in June.

They usually do not interview in the month of June, they accept off of the waitlist in June and even in July. So in short yes they do have spots they fill.

Do you know of anyone we can email if we are still interested in the school?

According to their website, today (March 15) is the day when they send interim emails to people who have not been invited to interview.

Anxiety about this whole process is going through the roof right now. 😕 Really wishing Howard had an interview tracker or a twitter account like OUWB...

I wouldn't bet anything on them sticking to this timeline unless the "Are you still interested" Email was supposed to serve as this. My confirmation email in November said I would be updated mid December and I haven't been updated still. I think we can't do anything more than ride it out.

Yes, I've called and emailed several times. I got in contact with Ms. Walk and Ms. Jones who both informed me that there is still plenty of room in the class and there are still January interviews that haven't gone into committee yet.

I am so glad you've gotten through. I have gotten through at all!

What were the interview dates they gave you? Are they quickly approaching or you still have time to plan?

does anyone know why they are choosing howard over another school they are considering?

Hey @tommed, I'm trying to find specific information about their curriculum, class schedule? are lectures recorded ? how is AOA determined? is attendance mandatory? how are the 3rd year clinical rotations, is it more teaching, are students involved or are they on the sidelines/shadowing/watching? how much time is given to study for STEP 1?

Just got an e-mail saying I'm on the waitlist...I would check your e-mail if you're waiting.

Have any of the people still waiting for an interview heard anything this week yet?

Did anyone figure out what does not getting the " email" (are u still interested...) mean ? Is it a rejection ? Last I heard from Howard was in Sept !

no idea 🙁 I wish I knew cuz I am in the same boat

Called in, no response either. Last I heard was from Jan 28th email saying my application is under review and consideration. Granted I submitted in November, but it's been almost 2 months. ._.

Hey guys, is Howard only interviewing for Waitlisted positions at this time?

I think someone posted a while ago that they had spoken to someone in the admissions office and was told that the class still had space.

I submitted early Oct and haven't heard anything.

Received a II yesterday. Handed in my secondary the day before it was due in January. Thank God!

That's why I'm worried about being wait listed straightaway 🙁

For those of you that interviewed can you let me know of the parking situation on interview day ? I want to park at the howard U hospital but I'm hoping I won't have to walk for too long to get to the school if I do park there.

That's awesome!! I doubt Howard would interview people just to put them on the wait list. According to the MSAR, it's only 30 spots anyway. So be positive!! And good luck.
30 spots on the waitlist!?!?! that's awesome....it's a win/draw.....you win because it's likely the people on the list may have another offer elsewhere and a draw that if you got that close, but didn't matriculate......you may have a better chance of acceptance the following cycle....also due to the limited number of spots you have a decent likelihood of matriculating...

i really appreciate your enthusiasm! gets me that much more excited to interview

EDIT: I'm already waitlisted at Meharry

My friend, who is attending Howard for PA school, said if you're lucky, you can find street parking. If not, you can park at the hospital parking, it's valet for I think $12. If you don't want to park there, there's another lot that is a block away that's $8 for parking but you have to get a parking tag from the attendant to park there. Sometimes the attendant isn't there which is annoying.

Thanks for the info !! I live in the suburbs so I'm gonna plan on leaving my house super early ... And you just thought me howard had a PA school I didn't know that.
