2015-2016 Oakland University (Beaumont) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Accepted Today 🙂 For those who are waiting and will be waiting, just be patient. Honestly, the past couple of months have been the most stressful time ever in my life. But it is totally worth it regardless of where life takes us. I am so happy and I wish the best to all of you🙂
Congratulations!! 🙂 When did you interview?

Congratulations!! 🙂 When did you interview?
Thank you 🙂 I interviewed on November 19th. I knew the adcoms were going to review my file if you follow them on twitter so I am very happy they accpeted me. Honeslty, this process suckssssss so to all those still waiting, I am with you. Do not give up hope !!

The "withdraw your application if you're not interested so the selection process will be faster and easier for us all" email 😀 I almost pooped myself cause I had so much hope that it would be a II..

I remember them saying you could get a scholarship with acceptance at interview day but has anyone actually gotten one yet?

Got rejected today, which I was sort of surprised about. This was one of the schools in my "safety" category (although we all know there are is no such thing as a safety medical school). Still a little sad as I actually really liked this school during my research!

Best of luck you all!

Sorry to hear. Mind sharing complete date?

For those who interviewed, did you all stay with a student host program?
If you didn't do the student host program, did you still get to meet with the current students (other than on the interview day) to learn more about the school?
I'll be staying for more than a day so I don't think I should be doing the student host program since that it's usually offered for the day before the interview only.

You get plenty of time to talk with current students. They escort you to your interviews, give you a tour of the hospital and then the campus, and you have an informal lunch with them. During all these times you get to talk to them about the school and their experiences. They also will give you their contact information at the end of the day in case you have more questions. I don't think it will be necessary to meet with them outside of the interview day. I didn't do the host program and felt that I had more than enough information.

If Oakland would've finished off Michigan State yesterday on my birthday, I think it would have been a sign for me. Great game though!

Is there a Facebook page for people who are accepted? Also, does anyone happen to know how many people have been accepted and how many 2016 seats still remain unfilled? Thank you in advance! 🙂

Interview here on Friday! Does anyone know the post-interview acceptance rate by chance? And congrats to those accepted =)

It's about 50%, so pretty good odds. Next adcom meeting is tomorrow as well!

Accepted as well! Got the call earlier this evening. Interviewed on 12/4.

Best of luck to those who are interviewing here soon or who are still awaiting decisions.

It seems that oakland doesn't let everyone know that they have stopped calling people until the following day in some cases. Does that mean they keep calling additional people until the following day or do they just continue trying to reach the same individuals that they tried to reach the previous day?

I didn't get the call and I interviewed 12/4. Does this mean that I'm on tier 1 or tier 2 of the waitlist? Or could I be hearing a rejection also?

I believe that they do not notify tier 1 or tier 2 until April. They do notify rejections and tier 3 right away - and of course acceptances.

Rejected today. OOS, complete early September.

Hey guys, anyone interviewing Friday January 15th? I get to Michigan Thursday morning at DTW airport and looking for potential carpool. Please private message me. Thanks!

I'll be interviewing Friday too, but I get in Thursday afternoon. Bummer, it would have been cool to carpool. Looking forward to meeting everybody! Best of luck to everyone interviewing on the 15th and congrats to those who just got their acceptances!

Interviewed on 01/08 and loved the school! They said that they would respond by early March about acceptances. For those that heard back already, how long did they typically take to reply after your interview? I'm hoping it isn't as long as it sounds lol really would like to get an acceptance here!

I interviewed on 12/4/15 and got the acceptance call 1/6/16.

Ok thank you. At this point it's impossible to determine what tier I may end up on. Let the waiting game continue ... Zzzzz
I'm in the same boat.. I was thinking about possibly calling just to get an application status. I need to start planning and finding housing elsewhere if this doesn't workout. It's my top choice :/

For people who have interviewed lately, around what time was the day over?

What a great interview! A ton of walking and a very long day, but totally awesome! Hoping things turn out for the best here 🙂. Best of luck to those yet to interview, you'll have a great time. The interviews were very conversational, and the admissions staff were extremely nice. I highly recommend staying with a student if you have the opportunity.

Day ends at ~4, and there's an optional tour of the campus (classrooms, med student lounge, library, anatomy lab, etc.) that runs until 5ish. If you're trying to book a flight out of DTW that night, give yourself PLENTY of extra time because traffic getting down there can be a nightmare at rush hour.

Thanks! I appreciate it. Just trying to plan the trip 🙂

Looks like this wednesday they will finish reviewing interviewees from 12/11, then probably do 12/17 and after. Were there any interviews between 12/17/15 and 1/15/16? Thanks for letting me know

Just wondering if anyone with an October complete date has heard anything...? 🤔
