2015-2016 Oakland University (Beaumont) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You have to add the dean first and she will invite you to the fb page

Is there any other reason ouwb calls you unless you are accepted? I missed a phone call from them yesterday when they were making admissions calls (according to twitter) but I have yet to receive an email or additional phone call. Does anyone know what this could mean?

Was there no voicemail message left for you? You could also call them tomorrow and see if that was the case 248-370-2769

Could someone possibly put the link to the accepted students Facebook page, or at least what we are supposed to search? I know we are supposed to friend the dean but I can't find her... Thanks in advance

After talking with a current fourth year (who's also a really good friend of mine), I'd like to clear up a few things:

1. There was ONE student who missed ONE interview because he/she wrote down the incorrect date of the interview. A careless mistake that shouldn't have happened, but it did. No one can disclose which hospital it was due to Match rules, but from my understanding it was a pretty small hospital on the outskirts of Chicago in a department that not many students match into anyway (it wasn't internal medicine, for example). That hospital will still interview OUWB students, but that department of that hospital will likely pass on them for a few years. That said, that student ended up matching VERY well, so I don't think this is something that will hurt OUWB students. @Serena_van_der_Woodsen I think context is important here.

2. The 70% mandatory lecture attendance for honors is a newer policy that the class of 2016 did not have. From working with current underclassmen, my friend said that he/she did get the impression that a lot of people are not thrilled about the policy and he/she hopes they change it back. I have to agree here; I had more autonomy as an 18 year old college student and my EC's are incredibly important to me. I know current students are saying that it's not a big deal, but since I have the option to attend a higher-ranked school that will give me more freedom with my schedule, I have to admit that it IS a factor that's influencing my decision.

3. Overall, the vast majority of the Class of 2016 is very happy with the school. It seems like everyone has had some frustration with the school at some point, over small things, but that comes with being the 2nd class to go through the program.

Maybe you should email Dr. Nuzz and find out directly what you would like to know rather than asking on a forum where you will mostly here 'he said/she said' rumors from students or applicants. Typically, those sort of questions will be welcomed and answered quickly, especially when time is of the issue.

I plan to attend lecture so I'm not bothered by this policy at all. I find physical attendance more useful in case I want to ask a question (it's a lot faster to verbally ask a question than it is to type it up).

1st tier waitlist notification just now. anyone know chances of getting in off this?

For those of you wondering, I did some research in previous years' threads, and it seems that they sent out 44 acceptances out of 100 people placed on the first tier waitlist. This was a direct number from the admissions twitter page, but I'm not sure if that number is 44 people matriculated from the waitlist or 44 people offered acceptances from the waitlist.

Good luck to all (including myself LOL) on the first tier waitlist

Also received the 1st tier wait list. I expected this after my interview--I certainly didn't fit in there. Good luck all!

2nd tier here. Will be withdrawing my application shortly. Good luck everyone!

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile app

2nd tier.
Quite sad about it. This place was my best fit and I recently sent them an LOI, too.

First post, long time lurkerl First tier! Definitely my top choice. Does anyone know how many people are on the first tier waitlist?

Received an email from OUWB today and my heart started racing...then realized it was just an update on the the waitlist process and died a little inside. Does anyone know how many people are currently accepted?

I understand that feeling! Have you sent any updates or letter of intent?

Excuse my ignorance, but is a 2nd tier waitlist essentially a rejection? I've just started to monitor things again now that students have to decide between acceptances (too painful to follow this on sdn the entire cycle). I was pondering sending in an update, but what's the point if I've already been rejected. Happy Easter to anyone celebrating today. Congratulations to all those who have been accepted and good luck to those still waiting.

Unfortunately, yea... they haven't pulled from tier 2 before 🙁. I hope you have other options that work out well for you!

So, assuming there are 100 people on the first tier wait list, how many of those are you guys thinking will be offered admission/go somewhere else? This is all very stressful. Praying for a call.

Withdrew my acceptance here, whoever gets my spot will be going to a great school!
