2015-2016 Quinnipiac University (Netter) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think (not sure, I do not recall) I put that I would like to work in a research lab as a med student. I just found FHN does not receive any funding for research. So basically now not only are my stats sub-par, I am not even a good fit! Lol goodbye to the the miniscule chance that I once had at an II. :claps::bang::scared:

For what it's worth, 1/3rd of my AMCAS was research, I expressed my interest in a few non-PC specialties, and I ended up with an interview. It's all about how you articulate your story

I have like 5 yrs (2yrs full-time) of research and only ~50hrs of clinical volunteering and I was accepted. There are stipends available for summer research/one of the concentrations for capstone is research.

Dr. Yeckel speaks to interviewees and is part of the admissions committee. He was a PI at Yale before going to Netter and he wants to get back into research. So wanting to do research wont be held against you, but you'll probably need a good "why Netter" answer

Just got the rejection email after interviewing November 6

I was so impressed with Quinnipiac! My interview there has hands down been my most enjoyable one thus far. The day was so organized and the students and faculty were so nice. I hope you enjoy it!

That and the campus is gorgeous. The med school is actually pretty cool because it's brand new and you can feel it.

Just wondering, are decisions coming by mail or email? (nervous because I interviewed early november, ahh!)

Edit: Answered my own question and it's email if anyone wants to frantically ask this (like I did) before actually taking a breath and going on their website (like I did) :wacky:

You also get an envelope in the mail (at least if you're accepted - I'm not sure about waitlists or rejections).

Ah!! I interviewed early November and haven't heard back :/ now I'm nervous

I'll probably be checking my email a lot these next few days. Or is it possible that they didn't get to my app?

I noticed that the Prematriculation tap appeared again on the portal and I am very interested in the program, but would current Netters who have gone through it share their experiences with the application process and the program itself? I would really appreciate it. Would it be too early to apply? Thanks.

Right there with ya!

Anyone know if Thanksgiving might push things back? I know for some schools committees won't meet at all this week.

They mentioned that Thanksgiving AND Christmas will delay my decision. (I interviewed November 13th).

I interviewed 11/9 & still waiting as well!

Stats if you dont mind?

And CONGRATS!

Thanks! ☺️ I'm a non-trad and my stats are nothing special...67 LizzyM I believe?
I really wouldn't worry for those who also interviewed early Nov. We were told it was highly unlikely we'd hear before the end of Nov. Maybe I was just in the pile of someone who was super speedy?

Oh and my date was 11/2

I interviewed 11/13 and they told us we'd be lucky to hear back by Christmas. Who was your interviewer?

I had a first year student and a phd...can't recall names off the top of my head though

At my interview, I remember someone said they were hoping to have our decisions the first week of December, but if not then sometime before the winter holidays

So basically, I'll be living in anxiety starting now! (not that I haven't been living this way already.... 😉)

For those accepted... do you know when we get the information for the online log in stuff that was detailed in the acceptance letter?

I don't think they're going to do much until January, haha, since it's so early!

I wonder what happened to Dr. Ellison-- I noticed today that Dr. Yeckel is the new associate dean!

Any recent IIs here? I added this school late… still hoping.

Woke up to an II today!!! Lizzy M ~67. complete mid July as well. Also, I sent three different updates--one LOR, why Netter, and a shadowing update. Unsure if these are ever looked at, but I like to think they help. So excited. Second MD interview of the cycle, and reapplicant. Don't give up 🙂
