There seemed to be quite a broad range of interviewers! I interviewed with a 2nd year medical student, which was great, very laid-back. Then I interviewed with a faculty member/retired physician who is very involved with the Medical Student Home (MeSH) program at Netter. They were very different interviews but both were extremely nice.

Complete since 7/12. I wonder if anyone has been rejected/can I keep hoping 🙂

Haha, generally speaking, when you get an II, it's commonplace to report your complete date along with stats if you feel comfortable with it! With that MCAT, you'll have plenty of chances to redeem yourself 😉

Slowly starting to accept that I'm most likely in the reject pile...... been complete since mid-July.... shouldn't have expected alot with a 27 MCAT.
 
Interviewing here in 2 weeks, yikes!! Anyone who has interviewed already and gone through the informative sessions have any information about research here? I know the school is relatively new and I heard that they don't really have a research center, but are there opportunities to pursue research of interest?

The school doesn't have research facilities or faculty, but that doesn't really seem to stop people, especially since the faculty seem so open to helping you arrange things. The tour guide I had conducts research at Yale (no big deal, obviously 🙄), and I'm sure there are plenty of other students that do something similar. You should ask about it during your lunch/tour - the students were really happy to answer questions.
 
hey guys,

i interviewed here yesterday. the whole day was very relaxed, and everyone was super welcoming. i had two retired physicians as my interviewers, one was current staff, one was a member from the community. they didn't ask anything that isn't already listed in the sdn 'interview feedback' page. they were both laid back and for one of them he stopped looking at his notes 5 minutes in and it was just a conversation. they were each about ~45 min long.

There was a Q&A type thing in a group setting, but it was just to get to know you better - nothing to stress about.

I liked everyone I met, the students seemed happy, and the building is gorgeous. I think I could be very happy there, but my ultimate worry is a lack of data on where students match. I'll just have to wait and see if they accept me/how the rest of the cycle goes! So to those who have interviews coming up, as long as you know your own application and go over the interview feedback page, you'll be all set. to those waiting, fingers crossed 🙂

I also know that the associated hospital is about 40 minutes away... and I read online that this is a "commuter" school. What do you guys think about that- do you think it's going to be an issue?

admissions will tell you straight up that a car is a necessity. there's no other way to get to all of the sites. i think a lot of people have cars, but for people like me who have lived in cities with great transit for a while, i'd have to PURCHASE A VEHICLE. Woof!

Hey guys! I'm a M1 and I will tell you that you HAVE to have a car. Everything in Connecticut requires a drive and you will have MeSH every week, so I highly recommend one. A lot of students here are from New York and they got their license over the summer and are buying their cars now. For the meantime they found people to hitch rides with since MeSH hasn't started yet, but it'll be hassle because everyone will have to go to different MeSH sites.
 
Anyone else flying into NY/LGA tomorrow night and possibly want to split a room?
 
Just FYI for anyone interviewing 10/9, that's parents weekend for the university. Book your hotel ASAP if you haven't already!

For those who have already interviewed, should we expect the day to end around 5 PM?
 
mine ended around 5 and started around 10:45. the last thing you do is the tour of the building though so all of the interview part is done around 4:15.
 
I'm planning on going directly to the airport after my interview on 10/9, do you know if they have place where I can leave my luggage while we interview?

You're in one conference room for a lot of it and they let you leave whatever you want there when you go to the individual interviews and on the tour
 
Under the "personal accomplishment that you are proud of" in the secondary, is it okay to talk about losing some weight? 😳😛 I feel kinda stupid to ask this/ :shy:

I'm an M2 at Netter and I also talked about losing weight in one of the secondary essays, so I say go for it!

To any current students or anyone who knows the answer to the question:
How strict is the English pre-req? And can "Writing-intensive" or other "Composition-heavy" classes fulfill this requirement? I'm currently out of college and didn't really take any English classes during college... I don't think it's possible for me to take 2 semesters of English between now and matriculation.

Oh never mind, I found the answer under the FAQs. FYI writing intensive classes work. 🙂
