Has anyone who reached their 6 weeks called CMS to check on the when they can expect to hear back? During my interview I remember being told that we can call them after our 6 week deadline but I don't reach mine until Friday.

I interviewed in the first slot I believe beginning of September. The office said they will still be reviewing for the upcoming 1-2 wks those first interviewed applicants, so don't anticipate anything for the next few days.

I believe she meant the first few interview dates. She said it would be their first committee meeting, and considering it took nearly 2 months to get here, I doubt they'd only review 5% of interviewees.

I believe she meant the first few interview dates. She said it would be their first committee meeting, and considering it took nearly 2 months to get here, I doubt they'd only review 5% of interviewees.

I hope they meant first interview dates. I had the option to interview 9/4, but it didn't work with my schedule. It would seem odd for them to only review 25-30 people for the first wave of decisions.

What if I already finished pharmacy school with a Pharm.D.? (Although to be honest I don't remember a single goddamn thing from my P1 year after being in practice for a few years)

You will have a class where students from the MD, podiatry, pharmacy, PA, clinical psych, and pathology are interspersed in groups of 7-8. You'll then work together in class on different medical scenarios and have a project to complete - usually at a local clinic. You will also take a biostats class with the pharmacy students. The screens are set up so that all students at a table can view content NOT for isolation. Cooperation is the focus for the class and interaction is encouraged.

Side note for those with later interview dates (i.e. Spring dates) - I was able to move my interview date up from February to December just by checking the interview scheduling system every few days for people dropping their interview dates. If anyone was interested, I would recommend trying that!

I posted a while back that the last two year's decisions came on 10/29, but next Thursday seems a little late in the week especially if the committee is meeting today.

Huh... I just received a rejection from this place. Quite surprised to be honest considering I'm a non-trad with a lot of clinical and research experience. MCAT 32; cGPA 3.81. Best of luck to you all!

Really? Nontrad here too except with much lesser stats. But given CMS's mission I'd say for me with my very substandard stats (LizzyM ~ 63) to get an II, my profession (practicing pharmacist and pharmacist preceptor) played a huge role. I still don't see why they'd reject yours though.

So I originally I had an interview scheduled for February 12th because that was the earliest date they had but I checked the portal and was able to pick up an interview date for October 30th instead. With that said, if anyone has the same interview date and is looking for a buddy to split things with lmk! And also, the confirmation email says a more detailed email will be sent within 1-2 weeks of the interview. Did those of you interviewing on this date get the detailed email already?

Well I know AAMC says that if we discuss the MCAT, they could subpoena it, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume a medical school could do the same thing? Again, adcom at the interview said that it was possible.

I got an II on 9/22 but didn't schedule until 10/2 because I was trying to figure out my work schedule. By the time I scheduled there were only February dates available.

I am wondering the same thing! I checked when I got the email and they had dates as early as November open. Two hours later and the earliest I got was Feb 12...kind of upset that I didn't pick one earlier when I had the chance, but I didn't expect it to fill up so quickly!! Oh well I guess I should just be grateful I got an II!

What about the biochem lab requirement? I took 2 semesters each of gen chem, orgo, and biochem, but no lab for the latter. I also did not take a semester of "research lab," whatever that means.

I have an II at this school, so am I screwed? I have a full time corporate job and I would not be able to take the lab prior to matriculating. I'd have to quit for an entire semester and lose nearly $50k in earnings for the sake of a 2-3 credit hour lab, which is ridiculous. Anyone have any idea of how seriously they treat this requirement?

Seconded on talking to them. Also, you could take it the summer before medical school starts. It'll probably be a 4 week course and I'm assuming you'll be quitting your job before you start medical school anyway.

I have another acceptance, but have no idea which one I would choose to attend if I were accepted to this one as well. My other acceptance is probably a tad better reputation wise and in regards to research and clinical opportunities, but it costs a full 10k/year more and is located in a city not on the same level as Chicago, which also happens to be my hometown. I have already booked my flight to this interview and am definitely going to attend, and not merely by going through the motions.

Edit: In regards to calling, I would do that but I'm afraid they'll give me the standard answer of what's written on the admissions website. I was hoping that either one of the students here or someone who had interviewed earlier had an inside scoop on this issue. At any rate, regardless of the answer I would still attend the interview, so I will ask that at that time.

Dude I bet you can find a night or weekend class to get that lab requirement, or fit it into your schedule and work something out with your boss. Dont worry about it.

I would choose Tulane in a heartbeat over RFU. I live in that area and I'll tell you, it is not very exciting and still kinda far enough from Chicago that you probably won't be going downtown often. Tulane also has a better reputation as you said

Thanks for the reply. And I'm sorry if this seems silly, but if you drop it and no dates are open - you can just add the original date you had right back? I'm nervous about loosing the date I have as it is and being at an even later date.

you can add your date again but yeah you always have that small risk that someone else will be checking when you give up your date and lose it...
what I suggest is that you check super early in the morning or some random time like 3am when other people probably won't be on there.

I googled and found the academic catalog for the 2013-2014 and in it said we could take another upper level chemistry laboratory instead. I haven't taken biochem lab and am in a similar place as you ( work full time etc) and am probably going to call about it. If I had to guess, something like quant lab or pchem lab would suffice.... Luckily I've taken one of those... I'll let you know if I get a clear answer

If location is what you're after, RFU is probably the opposite of where you want to be. This place is in the straight up boonies and is closer to Wisconsin than Chicago. I currently live in Chicago, and I had to get a hotel up closer to the school for my interview because it's a 90 minute drive between the two in average traffic.
