Got a decision bright and early this morning...Alternate List! Here's hoping that the list moves this year! :xf: Interviewed early Nov.!

Me as well. Do any of you guys know if the waitlist has moved in the past? Thanks and good luck!

Do you guys mind telling us when you interviewed? Maybe we can use the previous format:

Interview Date:
Stats (if comfortable):

Alternate list, 11/16, IS LizzyM 68. I was super nervous so I'm not surprised at all lol definitely not a good way to start the morning 🙁

I was complete 8/13. I have not received any info from them as of yet regarding my application. Part of me thinks my application was balled up in a corner behind a heater and that they haven't checked there to find my application and reject me.

I imagine my application shivering in that corner all alone, wondering why RF won't just love it a bit longer.
Is it apparent that I am procrastinating finals yet?

Alternate list
LizzyM: ~70
Interviewed 10/30
IS

sad. first decision to hear back from an MD school.

Alternate list...

I've heard that CMS accepts few and waitlists majority of their class bc they have difficulty getting matriculants.

Does anyone know how likely it is to get accepted off the waitlist?

If the list is not ranked, do names come off based on when we interviewed, or randomly?

The students at my interview day seemed to think that the waitlist moves quite a bit. And I'm not sure about how they go about choosing from their list, but the email made it sound like waitlisters are re-evaluated regularly, even before the interview season ends. So interviewing early might still be an advantage there. But I'm not really sure, this whole process is mysterious...just gotta stay hopeful!

Idk I think they took the majority off the waitlist before they implemented the MMI format. I think they'll take a lot less off now bc they can just interview a ton of new people with MMI rather than go back to the waitlist.

Straight up rejected after interviewing early November.

But as I said, CMS has issues with getting matriculants because those who get accepted somewhere else usually go somewhere else. Incidentally, I know two current MD students accepted off the waitlist there and one who never came off.

Does anyone know how names are pulled off the waitlist?

Did they apply last year? MMI was only introduced last cycle and last year's thread only showed 2 people getting off the alternate list.

Someone from last years thread got accepted in January after getting waitlisted in December. So that's good.

And yeah, I was told by students and a faculty member that the waitlist has huge movement. So we should feel good, at least we are still in the running and have 9 months before class starts to come off it!!!

Yeah, I like how it's more of a continuous re-review versus we'll get back to you in May type of waitlist
Yep, they are real life friends, current m1's both from my IS undergrad.
Thanks for the info! Makes me feel less depressed lol

+1

regarding those rejected previously- anyone know if they will offer input post interview about our application?

Waitlist as well, early October interviewer. A little bummed thought my MMI went super. Most likely will withdraw.

Wouldn't it make sense for them to just accept more people if they have trouble getting matriculants? I know that schools utilize the waitlist more when they don't want to over admit and get too many matriculants, so your reasoning seems counterintuitive to me. Am I missing something?

Haven't heard any news - interviewed early October...

It's different at schools where fewer people actually matriculate... this is because the school has to worry about THEIR numbers too. [meaning they don't want to offer so many acceptances and get low returns]. So CMS may initially accept less than many schools, and waitlist more, because then they can see if students have other acceptances later on in the cycle. Applicants with less acceptances are more likely to take the CMS offer later in the cycle. This happens more and more as the cycle goes on because more students will be withdrawing from both interviews and acceptances, as you can see on this thread.

I interviewed Oct. 9 and still haven't heard anything... Lizzy 73 and out of state.

When should I reach back out to them??

I would hold tight...they've released a round of decisions today and the acceptances are still to come!

You interviewed November 16th? So did I, so just wanted to make sure you meant 11/16 and not 10/16 so I should know if I should be on the lookout for an email today!

Yup! Maybe they'll give out acceptances later??

+1 Alternate list today. Interviewed 11/16. OOS. So from my understanding, this is similar to a wait list decision? Does anyone know how often alternates get reevaluated / roughly how many ultimately get pulled?

Thanks!

Is everyone finding out decisions via email or what? I interviewed 10/30, haven't heard anything.

I was placed on the alternate list and I have two questions.

What is their acceptance rate from the alternate list if anyone would know?
Would it be a good idea to send in a letter of interest?
They mentioned not to send any information regarding my file, I just wanted to show a continued interest in the school, thoughts?
