This is a preliminary notification that the College of Medicine Admissions Committee has reviewed your application favorably for an acceptance. An official acceptance letter and packet will be sent to your preferred mailing address, which you have listed with AMCAS. This letter will include any conditions for acceptance which may pertain to you. Enclosed in the packet is a reply form, which must be completed and returned within two weeks from the date of the acceptance letter in the packet, in order to reserve your place in our entering class.

If you have listed a preferred mailing address which is the address of someone other than yourself, please alert him or her to the need to forward the packet to you so that you can return the completed reply form within the specified time period. If you are unavailable and have designated a parent or other agent as a substitute, they must return the reply form within the specified time.

If you have decided to attend another medical school or have made alternative plans, please send an email to [email protected] and withdraw your application from our active files. This will benefit other applicants.

Woke up from a nap at 5:20 pm and looked at my phone and got this email at 5:18.
I was a re-applicant (failed to get off alt list last cycle), lizzM 70-72, IS, intervierw Jan 25, HFS march 18, alt list april15. I overnighted a update/LOI tuesday.

i feel like im asking 100% questions so im sorry in advance! but does anyone have the NYS tuition form as a requirement on their checklist? Or if we need to do it does that come in our acceptance packet?

The residency form is not on my checklist, but they sent me a link a few days ago with several of the items required for matriculation (which included NYS tuition info):

Thanks!! out of curiosity are you IS or OOS? I read that not everyone has to submit the tuition form so I was wondering if they already let those who need to know already (my residency is a little questionable):nailbiting:
 
For those of you accepted.... I sent in some of my forms like passport etc. to both email addresses like Monday of last week - but have not received a confirmation email. My checklist has not been updated either. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

I also sent things in over a week ago and my checklist hasn't changed at all

I got email confirmation that the files I sent would be processed a few days ago but the checklist stayed the same.
 
Any May alternates get pulled off the list yet?

Does anyone know when a facebook page will be created? I'm really hoping to get in contact with incoming MS1s that need to find housing. I currently live in LA so it isn't exactly easy for me to do on my own. Also, it would be awesome if a current student could comment as to which neighborhoods they suggest looking to find housing and how much I should expect to pay for a room. Thanks!

I'm in a similar situation! Coming from OOS so will be looking to live off campus..there's an unofficial class of 2020 FB group that has already been created

There is an unofficial class of 2020 page that is up already. The official one (which you wont use very often...the unofficial page has some current 1st/3rd/4th years, and accepted students only while the official one will also have some administrative staff on the page) will be sent out and you will be added by orientation coordinators when they receive the list of students who will be attending. The office is slow right now as commencement is in about two weeks, but things will begin rolling soon. Also its hard to find housing until like a month before school starts, though there is already a document set up

Admissions committee selects students who were either rejected or on the waitlist. So based off of your entire application I'd assume, you're nominated. And thank you!

I mailed my acceptance response form but did so via UPS so I could get a tracking number. No snail mail for me yet!

I emailed mine and got a confirmation email 2 days later

Also got my initial acceptance packet in the mail today

Just put on alternate list. Guess I knew that was the best possible outcome given how late I interviewed, but still was kinda hoping for a miracle deep down

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I was on the waitlist and I interviewed early March! Went great but my interviewer suggested my OOS status would make me a lower priority applicant so I had a feeling I would get WL. I will most likely be choosing SUNY Upstate though so my spot will go

I interviewed around then and was placed on alternate list May 5th.

Nope, no login information yet. Just the alt email with the requirements to stay on the list.
 
Do you guys think the bulk of the waitlist movement has occurred? I know 2 weeks ago there was decent movement but it seems to have died down. Best of luck to everyone!

The bulk normally occurs after traffic day, so I definitely think the bulk of movement has occurred. There will probably be more movement though, but not a ton.

Also, I want to ask people about the research environment at Downstate. I have like a day or two to choose between this school and U of Hawaii.

Anyway, research at Downstate seems to be pretty available. http://sls.downstate.edu/admissions/com/research/index.html & http://www.downstate.edu/college_of_medicine/student-research.html
I'm not sure if the majority of students conduct research, but there are many options available.

Here are links to obtaining NYS residency for education purposes: https://www.suny.edu/sunypp/documents.cfm?doc_id=402 & http://sls.downstate.edu/admissions/est_residency.html
If I remember correctly, OOS students can claim NYS residency after M1. Maybe? Someone can confirm.

Yep, that's what I did - changed my license/registration when I moved here, got my name on the lease, kept receipts from the gas bill, showed all that to them roughly in June after MS1, got in-state tuition for MS2+.

My lease started August 1 - I think technically the cutoff date was July 23 or something like that, but I had no issues with them. I showed them what I had before I turned it in and the guy was like "yeah that'll be fine."

I was accepted off the alternate list today (still didn't get a packet in the mail, so I'm afraid it was a mistake, haha)! Interviewed Feb. Good luck to everyone waiting

I interviewed mid march. My feelings are like @Thatsnotmyname. Since I haven't received the packet in the mail, I'm afraid it was a mistake too so was wondering about how long it took others to receive the packet after getting the email?
