2015-2016 Tulane University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Rejected just now, complete 8/20. 3.85/3.94s 504 mcat

Worked full time for new orleans ems for years, and acadian ambulance in new Orleans, as well as a police officer. Over 5000 hours of volunteering. I was really hoping for at least chance!

Best of luck to the rest of you, I went to Tulane for part of my undergrad and it's a great place.
I'm so sorry to hear that, it sounds like you fit their mission really well. This process is so mysterious and unfair sometimes. Good luck, another school will be very lucky to have you!

Got an acceptance range email this morning.

Under which tab ido you see it?
Under the home tab. Then, on the left, click the application status. Under application category, it will say "Final Decision", there will be a green check under Application Status, and under Notes it just says "Reject". lol.

I still have not received an email from them a day later.

EDIT: Just checked communication status and it says that they sent me an email yesterday but after triple checking all of my inbox folders I can confidently say I did not receive it. I have received all other listed communications, so I do not know why there is an issue for this one!

Accepted now, took like 3.5 weeks which I was a little surprised by.

Random note, I believe the majority of the people at my interview did AmeriCorps. I was sitting there like "what's that now?..." 😛

Congrats!

The waiting after the initial 3 weeks must have been tough.

wow. who can blame you. that has happened to me before with another school. I didn't reapply to that school this year. I just knew they were useless. your stats are absolutely incredible though, and I have little doubt you will go on to do great things <3

Hello friends! To anyone who have interviewed, I have a quick question.

Tulane's email said to "wear comfortable shoes" and that I "may even want to bring tennis shoes for the end of the day tour." How much walking is actually required? I have no trouble walking in my heels whatsoever and I feel most confident when wearing them, so I would prefer to do that. But if I have to walk six miles on interview day, I would reconsider. I also have black flats that fit nicely in my purse, so I could change mid-day if it is really unbearable. What do you all think? How bad was the walking during the day compared to other schools?

Wasn't the longest tour I've ever been on, but it was a walk. Plus there's a few blocks' worth of walking earlier in the day.

On my day I and another female changed into tennis shoes before the tour. The tour guide laughed and said thank goodness someone actually listened when they said wear comfortable shoes. So...I mean, this is pretty subjective. If your feet are fine by tour time then go in heels. If you feel like changing, change. I didn't feel judged for it.

There was a pretty good amount of walking. You have to get to the building that you start in, then you walk to a different building for the behavioral thing (the walk is probably 5 or 6 blocks), then you will likely be in a different building for your faculty interview, and then you will be back in the building you started the day in for your lunch and student interview, and then you go on the tour.

Does anyone know how much movement the acceptance range AKA waitlist will have

Has anyone actually heard of any post-interview rejections?

If not, this acceptable range list is probably pretty long...

Does Tulane accept application updates? Sorry if this has already been asked

I sense some corruption at Tulane med....

Were you outright rejected post-interview or placed within the acceptable range? Rejection would be surprising.

I'm a senior this year. I was straight out rejected - no interview. I emailed Kathleen Maier asking what the hell happened... no response yet.

Is Kathleen Maier with the med school or the undergrad?

Also idk how much she'll be able to help.

Acceptable Range. Which is still a load of nonsense.
Acceptable range is not a bad thing (not ideal of course), but if you really want to go to Tulane make sure to write a letter of intent telling them about how much going to there would mean to you etc. Also, for those cut before interviews it sounds like people were getting interview invites starting in like July, so it seems like applying early is a huge deal for the cut before interviews.

Really don't understand why you don't just reject me Tulane, if you haven't wanted me for the last four months...
