2015-2016 Tulane University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Am I the only one who is confused by this whole "acceptance range" nonsense? The information we were provided with during the interview made it seem like people in the "acceptance range" could be re-evaluated at any time, yet the email detailing the "acceptance range" designation suggests that we basically won't hear anything until at least February.

I'm a senior this year. I was straight out rejected - no interview. I emailed Kathleen Maier asking what the hell happened... no response yet.

Yep-I think they're purposefully vague about it. Honestly of all the interviews I've been to, Tulane was not only the least interested in new students but also the least welcoming.

yeah I kind of felt the same way for all their talk about how warm and friendly they thought that Tulane was, most of the students and faculty there didnt seem that nice or friendly.

omg stop. you are flagrantly advertising the fact that you are indeed still an undergrad. there are some of us that have phenomenal stats and this just happens. this is a known concept. GETTING INTO MED SCHOOL is a CRAP CHUTE and it is certainly not an entitlement, it's a privilege. I have a LizzyM of 82, and this will be my third time applying..and likely the last. I hope that you get into a school and feel blessed that you are as young as you are. and God forbid that you don't, those years in between will feel so irritating at first, but you will feel as though they were the best and most enriching years of your life if you wise up to embrace them. stop bashing Tulane just because you are mad. GRR. the end. oh and, I'm sorry for yelling. You will thank me later.

Did you threaten to axe murder entire admission councils during your personal statement or interview?

Either way impressive score, best of luck this time around.

I must have. 8 II and 8 wait listings... oh and total radio silence this time around except one interview and haven't heard anything yet but still holding on every single place I applied. complete silence. if I wasn't homicidal then, I may be now (joking SDN)... lol but um on the real, sorry for releasing my frustrated/freaking out nervous murderous energy on the thread! good luck everyone! still kicking it on this thread too! lol FML

Does anyone know Tulane's policy in regard to over acceptance ? I know that during the interview it was stated that over 50% of interviewees receive offers, but how many of these are accepted during interview season vs. late spring/early summer acceptances from the waitlist?

Its hard to tell whether people are getting waitlisted for yield protection or because tulane is basically rejecting us. I know a few years ago they overaccepted so they might be more cautious on accepting people out of interview. I'm in the same boat but its hard to tell at this point.

Rejected pre-interview today 11/30 via e-mail. Completed 10/25.

This one stung. Tulane seems amazing but a no go for me, good luck everyone!

First post in here but just wanted to update y'all... Pre-II rejected about a week ago. LizzyM 68, OOS, good ECs but nothing crazy. Complete early September.

Best of luck to everyone still in the mix!

Accepted today! Interviewed on 11/13. Absolutely loved my interview day and experience in nola![/QUOT
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! How much time do you get to decide whether or not you will accept Tulane or your other choice?

Are they receptive to ITA e-mails? And do we know when they are currently scheduling interviews?

Just got rejected! Complete 7/20. Every one is a bummer, but I count myself lucky this cycle. Good luck to those of you still in the running! NOLA is an amazing place.

I hate to be one of these: :beat:

But I'm going on 16 weeks of crickets from Tulane. My optimism about being in silence has changed to me thinking this has to be some sort of mistake. I wish they would just put me out of my misery if they're not going to invite me to interview!

I'm in the same boat. Talked to them a few days ago and they said my application is still in the screening stage and hasn't been looked at since September...so who knows at this point.

+3 wonder what is going on... I figure unless someone drops an II, it's likely we would be only waiting for an invitation to interview for the wait list or an invitation to be rejected. I am guessing the latter. Not to be a pessimist...

EDIT: Sorry for quoting the wrong person lol, but you know what I mean.

I interviewed November 11th. Do you think it's advisable to call and ask for my status?

Okay, so what @tasks121 pretty much proves is that there is a mysterious "save for later" pile. Thank you so much for calling and clearing that up! Guess I'll have to exercise my patience! :xf:

I interviewed on 10/20 and just heard back today. Accepted! I called several days ago and they said that it could take a while longer. Just be patient. 🙂

I interviewed 11/12 and also haven't heard. I definitely check my email every 5 minutes but think we just need to be patient 🙂

Was just rejected pre-II, OOS, complete mid-late July, MCAT 33, GPA 3.6. GL to everyone else.
