Holy crap! after 16 weeks since my interview, I am SHOCKED to have been placed in the final pool. (/s)

here's to better luck for all of us in the re-review

NOOOOOOOO Final Pooled :'(
Do many OOS applicants get accepted off of the final pool list?

I know most of the instate candidates are accepted from the final pool because they know in staters are likely to choose their school, even if having to wait for a later decision. This reasoning leads me to believe they accept less out of state students from the final pool, but I can't tell you for sure.

+1 Final pool here too.

We aren't on the admissions committee, so any info is purely speculation. Best bet is to weigh your other admissions offers because they provide security. Check your email again on 3.10 to hear about the final pool. Best of luck to all!

Final pooled! Anything other than a rejection is good news in my book. Time to get it together and suppress my nerves as best as possible for the next few months :nailbiting: stay strong errbody

Final pool OOS here too. Is final pool the worst outcome after an interview, or do they also reject people?

Beat you, 19 weeks. Really, what's 5 more weeks? Cake walk.

I have the same question

Anyone know if every body gets final pooled or do they also send out rejections? I'm OOS final pooled as well and I'm wondering what the chances are. From what I've read it doesn't seem like there have been any post-II rejections, just pre-II

From what I remember at my interview, one of the members of admissions said that ~50% chance of admission after interview regardless of OOS/IS. Some years the waitlists move more or less.

Final Pooled. IS. Interviewed 9/28. good luck everyone.

Final pooled. Getting ready to send an update.

Are all lectures mandatory? I can't remember attendance being addressed directly at my interview.

That update correction e-mail almost gave me a heart attack. Don't play with my emotions, CCOM!

Specifically two characters in a hot tub....accidentally symbolic perhaps of the "final pool" we are all anxiously wading in.

So I've been doing some research and it looks like last year the decisions came out march 4th, but the day before there were reports of a "rural" tab popping up on the secondary app site? And the year before that decisions came out march 13th and again the day before there was something about a "rural" tab. Anyone know what that's all about?

I believe someone in those threads speculated it was related to CRISP.

I want to get accepted here very badly for many reasons, including personal ones. Anyone know if letters of interest or intent are allowed through the portal? It says it's for "updates". But they also say they won't take any additional information after 1/26. I'm worried I won't be able to submit a LOI if I end up getting waitlisted from final pool. Any advice?

For those of you who were final pooled, did you get an email notification? I haven't heard anything yet, and I just realized that the mailing address I had on file is not the one I've been using for the past few months. Was the notification mailed? I interviewed mid-Nov and I'm getting anxious. OOS.

Notified through email, and it's also on the portal.

We're all still worried about getting INTO school, and you're worrying about if you have to go to class or not? Curse you.

I don't have that...lol. Hope this isn't a bad sign, but it seems like everyone got decisions yesterday. Thanks again.

I've always been told that LOI's are most appropriate when you've been waitlisted. Some schools are receptive to them prior to that, but the rule of thumb is to send one after a waitlist to express that if admitted, you would 100% go to that institution. I don't think it'd hurt to send an email though and ask! Good luck!!

Any current students around who did IMEI?

Two questions: What did you think of it? Were you considered half-time enrollment (at least) for undergrad loan deferment?

Thanks!

If you are still pondering this question:
Iowa isn't as receptive to LOIs as some other schools, but you could always give it a shot I guess. I would just email the school and ask. However, if they still have the ranked waitlist, if you are placed on it (usually March I think) you will be notified what # you are and will only move up it due to people above you dropping out or getting accepted. They will not change your # based on anything else.

Do many OOS applicants get accepted off of the final pool list?

Yes, many OOS applicants are accepted from the final pool. It's not the Pool Where Dreams Die, like for some other schools. And often a good chunk of the class comes from the waitlist, so that isn't necessarily the end of the road either. Keep in mind many OOS applicants that are accepted here will have other acceptances as well so there is a much higher turnover than for IS.

I was wondering if anyone knows what is the percentage of acceptance from the final pool. Thanks!
