2015-2016 University of Iowa (Carver) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Because it will undoubtedly be asked, here is some data I found in previous threads about waitlist acceptances. These are not precise, as are based on people's postings. Numbers are based off original WL number.

IS:
2015: ~27
2014: ~23
2013: N/A
2012: ~27

OOS:
2015: N/A
2014: ~10
2013: ~37
2012: ~17
So in 2013 for IS, there were 0 people taken from the wait list or you couldn't find that information?

Simply couldn't find any information. For whatever reason, in state applicants were not keen on announcing their acceptance and original waitlist numbers. These numbers are not perfect by any means but just provide a general idea. In staters might expect about 25 people, OOS deal with more variability but might expect between 15-20.

If I'm remembering correctly, on my interview day we were told that the waitlist moved only 4 spots last year (unsure whether IS/OOS/both) and that the previous year it moved a LOT more. (I can't remember the number but pretty sure it was >20....maybe 40? Don't quote me on that.) The point that was being made was that they have no way of predicting each cycle how much the waitlist will move, that it's too random.

This is what I was told on my interview day as well.

MSAR says the waitlist typically moves 41 spots, but it does not split it by IS/OOS. So the numbers above should be pretty accurate.

Anyone going to be a brave soul and call to determine if today is actually the day?

No rural tab, but it said decisions are being uploaded at this time!

I don't have a rural tab either, only the screen that says decisions are being uploaded at this time. :/

Does anyone know if every IS that was accepted saw the rural tab?

For those who have the Rural tab, did the admissions committee decision tab disappear?

No, it said decisions were being loaded.

Do people without the rural tab have this message displayed anywhere?

For the record (I know people from the future will be scouring this thread 😛 ): I'm OOS, and my Decision Tab changed today from displaying the final pool email message to "Decisions are being loaded at this time. Please wait for an e-mail." Though I don't think there is any indication here either way for OOS Final Pool-ers.

Did waitlisted people in the past have the rural tab?

Oh no! OOS as well. I was fine too until I read that.

Maybe only waitlisted OOS get the tab lol

Waitlisted. I guess it wasn't meant to be, Iowa. Luckily I'll be a state over next year. Best of luck to everyone else!

Accepted, IS!

Straight up rejection. Very disappointed, but honestly a heartfelt congrats to everyone who got good news today. And best of luck to everyone on the waitlist!

Edit: Again, for the sake of people in the future reading this and wondering -- I'm OOS, interviewed in mid-December, did not have a rural tab.

+1, as OOS too. No worries, congrats to all accepted, and best wishes to all on the waitlist.

Of 19 schools applied, I was fortunate only to interview at Iowa. But, I was flat rejected today. I suppose it wasn't meant to be 🙁.
Sorry to hear that. Better luck next cycle.

Accepted today, OOS! It's been 7 months since interviewing! Anyone else from California here?

How are you IS in Iowa AND in Nebraska?

Technically IS in Iowa since parents live here, but graduated from Nebraska high school, which is their requirement for residency.

On the Alternate list and will stay there. I have an IS acceptance so I can't complain, but I loved Iowa.
