has anyone had their interview here yet and not mind sharing their experience of it?
Hi, first time posting on SDN! I interviewed in early September and had a really pleasant experience. There are only 6 interviewees on any given interview day, so the experience has a pretty intimate and laid back atmosphere. The day starts off with a lot of information sessions regarding the background of the school, student life, and financial aid. You sit in a conference room at a round table with the presenter and the other applicants, so it has a very informal feel. There are plenty of opportunities to ask questions and I was especially impressed with how friendly and helpful the administration were (the financial aid guy is super chill!).
Afterwards, you go to lunch with student ambassadors. They just revamped the student cafeteria and the food was incredible! A huge variety of choices - from an array of chili choices to an excellent salad bar, pizza station, sushi rolls, etc. The student ambassadors (as well as my student host and tour guide) were really positive about the school and emphasized the collaborative atmosphere and sense of community. I enjoyed getting to hear their perspectives about great places to eat in the surrounding area (The Porch is excellent), what classes are like, what they like to do for fun, and the like.
Next, the group is split in half. Three students are given a tour while the remaining three have interviews. There are three sets of interviews, each for 15-20min, and they were very relaxed. It was clear that each interviewer was just trying to learn more about who you are as a person. All my interviews were open file, and one of my interviewer had clearly read my application very thoroughly since he asked very specific questions about my personal statement and various activities. The questions were very typical (Why medicine? Why Wake Forest? What is your greatest weakness? What do you add to this school? Tell me about activity X that you did. Tell me about your research.) They really try to make you feel comfortable so that they can get a better sense of your personality. After about an hour, the groups switch (tour group goes for interviews, interview group gets a tour).
All in all, I was very impressed with the student body and faculty that I met at Wake. Really laid back interview experience
