anyone know why offers are being made on friday instead of today this week?

Also, has anyone that has interviewed so far received a rejection?

Most likely due to the annual AAMC meeting that ran Nov 11 - 15th, the office is probably just getting back into rhythm now.

Just got an email from OUWB with subject "OUWB School of Medicine: Admissions System Upgrade & Thanksgiving Recess"

Haven't received an II yet, complete July. Anybody else get this?

Yeah me too. It scared me at first since I expected the worst.

They just tweeted out that they're starting to make calls and then I received the e-mail so I thought for sure it was a post-II rejection or waitlist. Relieved and back to anxiously staring at my phone.

Same! Now I am once again just neurotically staring at my phone...when did you interview?

I interviewed at the end of September! The tweet says the adcom has completed all reviews from before Oct 14th so I'm wondering if this means I will definitely have a decision today or there's a chance Ill have to continue waiting for future adcom meetings. How about you?

I also interviewed at the end of sept. Really hoping for a phone call today but I'm not too sure. from looking at last year's thread, some people didn't find out acceptances until 2-3 months after their interview

jumping in here.. I interviewed 09/09 and haven't heard. Fingers crossed so tight for this school!

So did anyone hear anything? I interviewed on the 4th of November so I'm wondering if they just didn't get to me. I hate this waiting game so badly.

For any OUWB med students scoping this thread, can y'all tell us about your experience at OUWB? the things you like/dislike?

I'm an M2. I absolutely love it. The teaching is really excellent - pretty much all the pre-clinical lecturers said came to OUWB despite it being a newer school because they wanted to focus on teaching. Abundant and diverse research opportunities, including clinical at Beaumont, public health/community-based with local organizations, and basic science. Very patient-centered curriculum as well. I like living in the area and love all of my classmates and professors. It's an extremely supportive environment where people look out for each other and take care of each other. I had some personal issues last spring and people came out of the woodwork to help me out with stuff I needed. And the school really does try to make things as manageable as possible for us.

My complaints are super minor, like the way certain courses are structured and parking is annoying and that kind of thing, but the administration is very, very responsive if we suggest reasonable changes. A few people I know of complain of all the "extra" stuff we have to do - ethics class, public health lectures, etc. - but personally I chose OUWB because the curriculum also emphasizes on the non-science aspects of patient care. People also complain that you need to attend 70% of classes to honor a class, but again, I do prefer to go to lecture regardless so this isn't a major drawback for me either.

Feel free to post here or PM me if you have more questions!
This is why Oakland is where I want to go to medical school.

Congratulations! Do you mind sharing your stats?

I think my LizzyM is like 73, good clinical exp, slightly unique volunteering (not clinical) and research (no publications). Strong letters of rec. I think my activities and overall narrative fit with their mission well which is what I stressed in the interview, and I think they do put a large emphasis on that.

How did you approach your interview with that in mind? 🙂

Well when they ask why this school, I was like, your mission aligns with my self for x,y,z reasons because I have done x,y,z activities that reflect this approach. And when talking about my activities, making sure to emphasize the qualities they have given me which are in alignment with their mission!

Anyone have any idea how many acceptances have gone out?

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I'm a bit confused about how the waitlist works here. Is it active or inactive? I haven't gotten a decision yet even though OUWB announced that all interviewees from my date have been reviewed. Does this mean my application will be reviewed at every single adcom meeting, and I can potentially hear back with an acceptance/rejection/3rd tier waitlist then? Or is it that I will only hear back in March/April when the adcom has reviewed all other candidates? Thanks 🙂

The first one is right - your application is reviewed at every subsequent adcom meeting for accept/reject/3rd tier waitlist, and then if you haven't heard anything by March/April they will let you know a final decision or 1/2 tier waitlist.
Okay that makes sense! thank you so much for clearing that up🙂

For those who interviewed already. How was the interview? Did they ask a lot of questions about your primary app? What about ethical/situational questions?

Thanks for answering my question 🙂

Anyone put on pre-II in October that has been rejected?
Trying to gauge whether or not they got to that batch of applications or not.
