Congrats!!! Did you send an update or anything after your interview?

A question for current students: do you guys typically pay for textbooks (digital and hard copy), borrow materials from other students, or are there no textbooks required?

There are recommended textbooks throughout the curriculum for various subjects. A few people buy some, even fewer buy all, most buy none. There are multiple online drive/dropbox accounts with resources that get passed on from class to class with pdf versions for your perusal.

Most of the books/resources I bought were not curriculum related, but supplemental materials for exams/shelves. First Aid, Case Files/Blueprints for certain rotations, Sketchymicro/pharm, Pathoma, etc. There's zero reason to buy an actual textbook like "Clinical Neurology", especially since our library has several textbooks accessible online for free.

Is sending Pre-II updates alright at this school? I have one ready to send.

I've sent two already and they didn't seem to have a problem with it!
I attached mine as a Word doc to the email. Is that the preferred method? The FaQS said electronic attachment so I figured it would be fine.

Does anyone know if they are doing any interviews the last week of December? If so, is this school receptive to "in the area" notifications?

Has anyone who had been accepted received any merit scholarships? [if so, around when were you accepted and when did you get the scholarship info?]
I called and it's on a rolling basis and some have already gone out. Just wondering if I'm still in the running or not.

None here. Did they say how they would let you know if you were awarded something? Email?

Anyone else vastly overestimate how competitive of an applicant they were? Thought LM 73 and solid ECs would have meant something by now.
LM 76, solid research, patient experience, ECs and NCAA athlete.. nothing here sadly :/

I feel you. I am afraid my advisor and I overestimated the new MCAT. Good luck to you, hopefully we hear back soon!

Y'all... The application process is random as eff. It's honestly not a reflection of most people's applications when they get passed over or rejected. They try to get a good fit going on between applicants and their programs but for the most part it's a crap shoot. Don't be so hard on yourselves but on the flipside, don't drop stats and your"great ECs" to get folks to come in and tell you how great you are. Find that confidence within 😉

I appreciate your two cents, but I am not looking for validation as I am sure many people are not either. I am looking for some comradery to make it through this and also wondering if other people feel the same. We all know it is a crap shoot and we all know it is out of our control. Even in the interviews I have had, many of the questions I was asked have been centered around things I cannot control, so it is true that all the way to the point of interview it is an unfortunate crap shoot. I don't mean to offend anyone or make anybody feel bad, I am simply looking for some people in the same boat. Good luck to all, and beat Clemson!🙂

good luck to you too!! Although I did take the new MCAT, what do you mean by overestimating it?

+1 on the confident applicant issue. My stats aren't as high, but I'm an OSU alum so I would hope there is some sort of "good fit" going for me.

BEAT CLEMSON, INDEED.

As in, when I was making my school list, preliminary data showed my 2015 MCAT score correlated to a higher old MCAT score than it truly did or does now. That score led me to apply possibly a little too high is what I think. I still have a chance at a lot of schools, but I am realizing now that I am probably in a lower applicant tier than I had originally believed.

Go Bucks, we want Bama again!

Congrats. Stats? Mcat? urm? Experience? I'm wondering what it take to get an II at osu?...

Tbh I'm not one to post stats but I would consider myself your average across the board applicant (there's certain minimums that have to be hit otherwise your not in consideration). I would guess that the only thing that stood out is I am non-trad and have worked in healthcare before..but idk this whole process is a crapshoot, Ive already been rejected by schools way WAY lower than OSU

For those who have interviewed…what time of day/night before (?) did they send the vitals notification of acceptance/deferral/rejection.

Haha currently staring at my phone right now waiting for a call. Earlier posts said that Vitals updates at 8am tomorrow, and that calls/texts can come after midnight or early in the morning.

Would you mind telling us what dates you got to choose from for the interview? I just wanna get a sense of where they are in the interviewing cycle...

I was assigned 1/11... I didn't get to choose lol though you can request a re-schedule

Is OSU receptive to pre-II updates? Some of my job responsibilities have changed at work and I wanted to send a semester update, but I also want to slip in an LOI. This is my absolute top choice, so I don't want to do anything ridiculous.

I don't know about LOIs but I sent them an update because my job changed and they acknowledged that they received it.

Yes, they accept pre-II updates.

Is anyone else's supplemental application page (where you can read your submitted supplementary essays, etc.) for this school no longer opening; mine now says "the application you have selected is not available."

You can't go to the supplement page; that is expired by now. You need to go to the website to view your application status, the vitals one. Let me find it.

Found: vitals.osumc.edu 🙂

Note, I applied MD/PhD so I have a applicant center log in that then gives me two status page links to check.
