2016-2017 Pennsylvania State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just got an additional info tab on the portal. Anybody knows what this means?

My interview was on 9/9 if that helps.

Where does the additional info tab appear, in between which other two tabs? Also has anyone who interviewed around September 21st received the additional tab or been put on hold?

Also another quick question. Do people who are waitlisted have a waitlist tab? I was waitlisted at another school and got a tab for it.

Pre II hold. What are chances of getting a II after this historically ?
Not certain. I was wait listed last year and never heard another thing. Had to call the school to confirm rejection... but had friends who got II off wait list:smack:

Interviewed 10/5 no additional info tab yet! Waiting patiently

Any who has an additional info tab receive the acceptance letter in the mail yet?

Nothing here. Got the tab on 10/27. Last year it seems like it took people 1-2 weeks between the tab and getting accepted.

Congrats to everyone on the first wave of acceptances to Penn State College of Medicine! I cannot personally confirm nor deny that the appearance of an Additional Info tab means an acceptance (I do not directly work in the admissions office at Hershey), but I did get one last year about 10 days before my acceptance letter came and it did seem that everyone last year who got the tab ended up getting accepted. For those yet to hear an admissions decision, please know that there are several different admissions committees that meet at different times due to the availability of their members, so you may hear sooner or you may hear later and that doesn't necessarily have any bearing on your eventual admissions decision.

For those who received an interview invitation and/or an acceptance and listed interest in the UP program on your secondary, we will be sending you a packet of information to better inform you about the program in the next week or two. If you are now interested in the UP program but didn't show interest on your secondary, let me know and we can see about adding you to our list. In the meantime, you are always able to PM me here on SDN, email the MSDP email account at [email protected], or check out our (still in the process of fully renovating) website at http://med.psu.edu/md/regional-campus. Best of luck to everyone as we enter the most exciting phase yet of the medical school admissions cycle!

But getting it definitely means acceptance?

I'm not sure if it's definite, but if you look at the thread from last year it heavily seems like the appearance of the tab is an indication of an acceptance. All I know is that I'm not celebrating until I receive an official letter from the school stating their decision.

No ethical questions or stress questions.

Lucky you haha. This was my only interview that had stress questions. Or maybe my first interviewer just didn't like me because the second interviewer was super nice. I really liked the school though.

Anyone can give me some advice to get to here from NYC ?? VIa bus or train ?

The nearest train station is Elizabethtown, which is about a 20 minute drive from the medical school so you would need to get an Uber or taxi from there. Overall though the train is a good option.

To my fellow OOS-ers, what airport did you fly into? Also, any general advice for the interview?

The interviews were relaxed. Definitely know your application because your interviewers have looked it over thoroughly. All the questions are very straightforward, but the interviews are long to be ready to talk about your ECs / Penn State a lot!

Any additional info tabs from early October interviews?

@JPSmyth I interviewed 9/19 but nothing for me yet.. they said 6-8 weeks at my interview, so I'm hoping for some good news this week!
