2016-2017 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I applied to this school mid-August. I've already interviewed and been accepted at another school (same submission time), but my app is still not even complete here. They probably take another year just to review them.

I'm going to be withdrawing my app today anyways, but this wait time is really ridiculously long.

They get over 10,0000 applications. And every school does have its own process. The same is the case for me though.

Hotel recommendations for those who have interviewed?

I'm sorry if this has been answered previously. For an afternoon interview/MMI, is there something going on in the morning that we should attend? I am scheduled for this Friday at 1300 but have not received any communication about the day besides the interview time/date confirmation. I'm thinking I should call RFU.

CMS holds two interviews per day (morning and evening). I would recommend arriving 30 minutes before your interview, but not earlier.

Same. Except I have an AM interview. I haven't received any details about the interview date yet either.

I feel like those of us who submitted early August aren't gonna have any interview spots left to take lol

Joining the reject club. Best of luck to everyone else this app cycle! Hope to have you all as future colleagues one day.

Edit: LizzyM 71 and got the 8-10 week email on 8/3 for anyone curious

What is the consensus on this school?

I've been reading stuff about how it was on probation, but is all that resolved now?

There is a few posts about this i believe on the past CMS threads.
This may be helpful: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/rosalind-franklin-on-probation.1038134/
But I do know it is fully accredited now (since '14) and it was placed on probation for "non-academic" reasons, although it was related to (the first probation in 2004) student debt and lack of hospital affiliations/clinical opportunities...which the latter seems, while not technically "academic," certainly detrimental to students' success.

If there is a lack of clinical opportunities, that would certainly scare me... Do you think this is a still a deterrent?

Honestly, I dont know enough about the program to speak on this. I know they have made steps, but to what extent, I dont know. Perhaps some of the M3-M4 on here might clarify (if they have not already)
Edit: Did anyone ask about this during their II?

During my interview, the M3 who talked to us made it seem like there was no shortage of clinical locations. He said most people move to the city after M3 because most of the clinical sites are that direction.

They had a ~97% match rate. I think they're doing okay if on probation.

There are actually a lot of clinical locations all over greater Chicagoland - the main partnership is with Advocate hospitals and you can look up how many sites they have. There are also 3 separate student clinics with shifts available to students and leadership positions if that's something you're interested in. There is also the Community Care Coach which goes out into the community to perform screenings and health education events. In my opinion, it's better than having one site where you do all of your rotations because you get a MUCH wider variety of community types (suburban, urban, rural, etc.) as well as exposure to different patient populations. To each their own, of course, so do with that information what you will! Let me know if you have any other questions.

To those that were accepted and submitted the deposit -- have you received follow up correspondence from the school about next steps?

OMG II JUST NOW! it's my first one and after a slew of rejections I have never been so happy.

Congrats!! Mind sharing when you got your completion email? (P.S. I love your username 😛)

I got the "8-10 weeks" completed email on 8/10, and today is exactly 11 weeks from that day. Should I email them to ask or do something? I'm scared that they forget me 🙁
