2016-2017 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Same. I don't even know. Seems like almost everyone got an email update even if they didn't submit the secondary...

Follow up says IF you haven't submitted, disregard. So if you have... assume you'll likely hear back in the next two weeks. :horns:

Does anyone know is CMS is pass/fail? I called the admissions office and they had no idea...

How strange that they wouldn't know!
Yeah kinda makes you wonder right?

From a 2005 SDN post, it looks like CMS is
A/B/C/D/F grading, although I'm not sure if that is still the case.

I hope this is still the case, I may shy away from mentioning grading in their secondary.

M1 + M2 year is P/F with internal ranking.
M3 + M4 is Unsatisfactory, Pass, High Pass, Honors (changed from A/B/C/F this year - current M4s will keep the A/B/C/F system).

Anyone else a reapplicant? This is one of my top choices, but I got no love from them last cycle 🙁 Since last year I've completed my post-bacc and finished with a 4.0, and I racked up another 1,000ish hours of clinical experience as a surgical assistant. I think my late application last year really hurt me, but I'm curious if any reapplicants have had any success years prior.

I am a reapplicant. Waitlisted last year.

Is biochem lab no longer required? I believe that it once was, but the website now states that it's "recommended." Anyone else notice this?

Does RF not have a portal to check application status? I can't seem to find one.

Nope! In the email sent out they said they would email us back within 2 weeks to let us know of our status.

Saw that email and was hoping there was still a portal! Assuming that 2 weeks is just the time frame for letting us know complete, not a II/rejection time frame.

What's even worse is that they sent that "my bad for sending you this email if you are not complete yet" But if the 2 weeks stand then it should be sometime this week

Yea I'm really wanting to hear back from them.... I feel like it won't be very significant news, probably just "all your material is in and you are now being screened" lol

I hope the weeks is accurate, but they are still finishing up last year's class right now.

So the email this year is different than last - but I got a "complete" email that was very similar to the 2 week email from this year, 23 days after submitting my secondary, then 4 months before being rejected. So be prepared to possibly wait a LONG time

Was the email that came after two weeks basically just a "you're under review now" email?

Last year, my "complete" email said:

"Your application is currently complete and under review with the Admissions Committee. Due to the large number of applications we receive, please allow 8-10 weeks for us to send you an email update regarding the status of your application. We appreciate your patience during this time."

So, I could be very wrong, but I don't think the emails that were sent out earlier this year were indicative of completeness. My guess, is that it was them trying to give us an update that indicated that maybe they could be a little behind where we might think they are. (ie... not having confirmed completion yet, and that the process of actual application review hadn't been started yet).

To put into perspective, I'm still on the waitlist for last year. That I've heard, they send out emails when the class is complete. They still haven't done that for last year. Plus, they sent us an email not too long ago asking us to confirm our desire to still be on the waitlist. However, that class is going to be starting soon. So things will more than likely pick up somewhat soon.

So, yup... it is not unrealistic to expect to wait awhile. But, honestly, that's true of everywhere.

Can anyone tell me what the curriculum for the M1s looks like?

I found the following link, but it only seems to list all the courses.

https://rosalindfranklin.edu/academics/chicago-medical-school/degree-program/curriculum/

I'd like to know what courses are taken in the 1st and 2nd semester. If you could also list approximate dates, so I can get an idea of which classes are taken together, that would be awesome!

This is the current schedule for students

+1 on the complete email. Submitted 7/8 and had LORs in before submitting primaries on 6/15

Thanks! Would you (or anyone else on this thread) know how purchasing class notes/ ppt slides works? I know they can be printed, but can we just buy them from the book store? How much are they?

Thanks again
Are you an accepted student here??? If so, good luck on your first year! Would you mind sharing your stats, URM/ORM, IS/OOS and all that jazz?

Cool. Just received an incomplete email ... submitted July 8th. Paid fee. I have all of my letters and a recent MCAT score. No idea what is missing.

I tried to call but no answer.

Not trying to insult, but did you make sure you sent all of your letters to CMS on AMCAS?

Did anyone that submit their secondary on the 8th not receive a completion email at all?

Edit: I checked my spam and my trash folder just in case :/

Submitted Jul 14 and also no complete / incomplete email today. BUH?

Submitted 7/10 and I also haven't gotten a complete/ incomplete email either...

I don't know, I'm an incoming BMS student, I just saw the class schedule on the orientation site.

Just heard back from admissions office and Biochemistry Lab is not substitutable in order to meet the required 1 year (2 semesters) of Organic Lab. Bummer, won't be applying here..

If we haven't received a complete email yet, should we be emailing asking what's up? Complete July 9th, concerned that people after me are complete. All letters have been in since June, and MCAT was last September, so there shouldn't be a hold up
