2016-2017 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If we haven't received a complete email yet, should we be emailing asking what's up? Complete July 9th, concerned that people after me are complete. All letters have been in since June, and MCAT was last September, so there shouldn't be a hold up

Yeah, I would call them. I was complete a few days ago and got the email yesterday.

Just heard back from admissions office and Biochemistry Lab is not substitutable in order to meet the required 1 year (2 semesters) of Organic Lab. Bummer, won't be applying here..

Hmm.. My school only has 1 semester of
O chem lab.. It is its own 4 credit class though, so hopefully that's ok.

By complete email, are you guys referring to the generic email that EVERYONE received a couple of weeks ago, or is it a more specific one? I submitted 7/16, got the generic email on 7/22, but no specific completion email. Should I call them too?

No, this is the complete email:

Please note, we cannot accept any additional information or materials for your file beyond our application requirements, unless it concerns Institutional Action, Felony, Misdemeanor or Military Discharge.

I never got the receipt email. Submitted my secondary the first week of July. Got the mass email in late July. My letters were submitted this week and I got the complete email yesterday.

Okay, this is off topic, but you are a god! SEVEN MD IIs??????? FOUR DO IIs????? Wow. And this early too. You must be something special! CONGRATS.

I submitted my secondary on July 14th and did not receive a "complete" email, but did receive the generic email on July 22nd. I spoke with a women in the admissions office today. She said although the email said we should receive an update within two weeks, it is now approximately 4-6 weeks due to the high volume of apps. As long as we received a payment receipt email, they will begin processing our applications as soon as possible. No worries! 🙂

CMS received nearly 11,000 applications for 2015-2016 cycle. I think it's safe to say if you've submitted the secondary, then they will get around to you. I got the secondary 7/8, submitted 7/13, got the "two week" email 7/22, and now completely in review 8/8

In the mean time, let's watch some Olympics! 🙂

when i saw the notification on my phone, i was like "God no, a reject this early??" so relieved!!

Anyone not gotten a secondary yet? Submitted AMCAS on 7/1, verified on 7/28

Anyone know whether the primary screening is heavily stats-based or more holistic?

Sorry I was referring to this complete email. I guess I meant II-screening: does anyone know if Rosalind Franklin focuses on stats or is more holistic? Or what is this primary screening that the letter refers to? Thanks y'all

Wow after sifting through this thread I am now second guessing why I would want to apply here... sounds like their admissions department is a wreck!
I am also applying late in the cycle, still waiting for my app to get verified by AMCAS but I should have everything in by the end of August.

They may be a little overwhelmed but when I called about my incomplete status they were very helpful and told me someone was already looking into it before I called.

Take that however, but I don't think a few missteps are worth pulling your app if you're interested otherwise.

I just called the office and a nice lady told me that they're receiving a large volume of applications this year, so we should expect 4-6 weeks between secondary app submission and the completion email.

I'm kinda scared of what that means. Last year was a huge year for them. I'm so glad to have at least gotten in early.

Does anyone know if they process Discover credit cards? Or is it Mastercard / Visa only... (trying to budget becau$e the$e $econdarie$ are no joke)

Strange, maybe it has to do with when your AMCAS was verified? I submitted my primary on day 1.

I sumbitted my secondary app today (sent my primary to them on Wednesday)! Am I a late applicant? My transcript, MCAT, and letters are already into AMCAS. Do you think this will hurt my chances here or at other schools?

Submitted primary day 1 as well. I mean I understand being held off for an interview but I don't get why they wouldn't send me a complete email the same time as others. Maybe I'll call in Monday to check up!

Out of curiosity, what does the complete email say? I got this message about 3 weeks ago:

"Thank you for your recent submission of the supplemental application for admission consideration at RosalindFranklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS) Chicago Medical School (CMS) for Allopathic Medicine (MD). It is our goal to recruit and enroll qualified students who have the aptitude and motivation to be successful in our program and hope that you will be among the students selected to move forward in our process.

Our committee will begin screening all the materials submitted and will be in touch with a status for the next step in the process within the next 2 weeks. We appreciate your patience as this is a very busy time of year for the Office of Admissions & Enrollment at RFUMS."

Is this complete or is this something else?

That is not the email. That is what you get as soon as you turn in. This email is what you get about 1 month after (complete email):

Hey, all. Recent graduate here.

I won't have much to say about the application process because I'm not connected to the admissions committee, but if you have questions about the school or clarifications about how things have worked in the recent past (sometimes things change!), I'm happy to answer them.

My least favorite question, though, is "What is one thing you liked and one thing you didn't like about the school?" and similar variants. I'll still answer, but you're likely to get a flippant answer rather than a genuine one. It's easiest to respond to questions about specific static things, like training sites, as administrative policy and minutia changes from year to year.

Advice: Focus on year 3 and 4 as you go through the interview process; that's where the money is in terms of your future.

What do you mean? What should we look for specifically in our third and fourth years as we do our rotations? Locations, status of hospitals, trauma levels?
