Hi everyone, just wondering is SLU receptive to ITA emails? Thanks in advance!

What are ITA emails? Thanks in advance

In The Area Emails,
they're usually emails that ask schools the status of your app because you'll be interviewing at a school nearby.

To clarify a little bit better: if you are from FL and are flying to NY for an interview at NYU, you could ask all the other schools in NY if they could offer you an interview (NYMC, SUNYs, etc). It's for scheduling purposes since travel costs can pile up. Hope that makes sense!

Congrats! How was the interview day at SLU? They got back to you so quickly!

I was surprised how quickly the got back to me. I was told to expect to hear back in 3-6 weeks and it turned out to be less than 3 weeks.

The interview day was very relaxed. My interview was in the research building and I got printed directions for how to get there when I checked in. My interview was very conversational. My interviewer had a copy of the activities from my application and just asked me questions about them. The other questions were pretty basic (why medicine, why SLU)

What is the informal dinner on Sundays? Is it a necessary event to attend?

I just realized they offered it now and my interview is next week so it's probably too late anyway

That's good to hear. Did you go to that informal dinner?

Are SLU's rejections silent? After all the emails and mail they sent me, no love at all haha

I did not. I didn't realize they had one until the interview day.

Ok now I don't feel as bad for missing it lol. One question- did you feel that SLU wants to admit students who will stay in St.louis post med school? Also are they primarily family medicine oriented?

Hello, SLU M1 here. I don't think SLU cares where you will ultimately practice. There is a large percentage of our class that is from the west coast and I think they are well aware that many of us hope to return to the west coast. In the 2016 SLU Match, 23 matched Family Med out of about 170 that matched. I haven't gotten the feeling that we are family medicine oriented. However, all the family med faculty that I have interacted with were awesome.

is SLU receptive to pre II updates or letters of interest?

Any info on at what point SLU rejects people? I've been complete since 8/3 and haven't heard anything from them. Not sure if I should be hopeful that I could still hear, or if their silence is a hint that I won't be getting any love from them.
Congrats to all who have interviewed/been accepted!

Thanks for the info! Do you think SLU accepts applicants if they have a strong desire for community service?

Quick question. I am a canadian student that applied and got an interview last year. Just retook the mcat this year and only got a 506 on the new mcat. When I applied i had a 32. Does Saint Louis look at all the marks or just the latest mcat mark. Did I just screw over my chances of getting an interview again this year? Q_Q

Had my interview on November 8th. Faculty and staff were nice and I met some quality applicants 🙂
Great hospital system and solid facilities. Library was "meh" but you have access to the undergrad one. Building felt older (think: church basement), but they're always updating things. Great lecture halls.

Most important: I felt that the school as a whole genuinely cares for the mental health and well-being of the students.

Interview was a little intense. Interviewer was nice but kept interrupting me. I felt as if he/she was trying to trip me up somehow... interruptions led to me occasionally losing my train of thought and messed with my pacing.

Interviewed the same day and agree with this. Did they give any timetable on when we would hear back?

Feeling defeated? I sure am.

I trolled last year's thread and it looks like some people who were complete pretty early last year didn't hear until later so I'm not giving up 100% yet..but yeah, I'm feeling bummed for sure

Thats good to know. When did those people start to hear anything? December?

There were quite a few that got II around November 18th who were complete between early August and early September. So if it follows that trend this year, those of us who've been complete for a while may still have a chance!

Friday here we come lol.

I was complete in early-mid September and received an II in mid-October. I interviewed mid - November, and I had a great experience. The interviewer was super conversational, and the Dean was super friendly and nice. I genuinely feel that this is one of the top schools with regards to the care it gives for the well-being of its students.

my interview last year was sent to me on November 21 and i completed on july 20 if that makes you feel better dont be too worried youll get one soon
Thanks friend! I commend your patience, wish I had a bit more haha.

I interviewed the same day, my interviewer said to expect hearing back mid-December because Thanksgiving break kinda slows things down.

Do they usually send out acceptances first and then wait list students? A few people from my date have already gotten acceptances but I haven't heard anything yet.
