I have a question about interviewing for both MD and MD/MPH. I see that the two interview locations are quite far from each other. Can anyone who knows please tell me what would be the best way to go from one campus to another. Thanks!

For those waiting to be scored, please exercise some more patience. I know it's hard! But last cycle I wasn't scored until late February and received an interview in early March! And I had been complete since July; so for some it may take some waiting. Admissions have a lot that they do, but you have to trust the process. And yes, I was still offered a nice scholarship package that late in the cycle! I feel for you guys! But really, try to enjoy what may likely be your last several months of freedom! Wish you all the best!! 🙂

I live in Miami, so I just drove. But I remember that I received a call from my host asking if I could give a ride to Palm Beach to another interviewee who was coming from up north. So what happened was that he flew to Miami and stayed with a host. After the day 1 interview, we both drove up to Palm Beach and stayed with a host up there. So you could maybe hitch a ride with a fellow interviewee if possible. Definitely a lot cheaper! 🙂

Oh ok but I am not staying with a host and how do I find someone who has an interview the same day as mine. Since you live in Miami, do you have any suggestions for getting there otherwise, like uber, cab how much would they cost. Is there any public transport that's convenient if I were to travel alone. Thank you for your help

I'm not sure. I think you could send an email to the person who organizes hosting, since he/she may have some knowledge about travel and about other interviewees who may be driving.

Has anyone used the IntervU app for the Interview Day information? I can't find it in the apple store?

Hi all, this question is mainly geared towards current and past med students --I wanted to receive some advice, as I sent in my secondary back in mid July and my status has changed on my account. It looks like I am in a pile to potentially be interviewed. Do you recommend sending a letter of interest to the committee expressing my desire to come and interview? How do you think the Adcom would receive such a letter?

Could anyone offer some insight about the status of "Your application is currently under review by the Admissions committee"? I was wondering if this means I should expect to hear something back soon or if this is the status of everyone who submitted the secondary? Thank you!

In the same boat as you, submitted secondary at the end of August

Hmm I think it's pretty early to be sending a letter of interest at this time of the cycle. However, if you have any updates like recent publications or new experiences that are not reflected on your application, then these would be good reasons to shoot them an email. Last cycle, interviews were conducted up to mid-March. There is still quite some time left to be called for interviews. I'd say to wait a bit. However it's really up to you

Thanks, that's really helpful advice! It's hard to keep these things in perspective sometimes when you're really excited/anxious about the process … That being said, given that I applied in July, when do you think would be reasonable to reach out to the Adcom with any major/ minor updates? Also, would you recommend at least being contact with any representatives that I initially spoke with prior to applying?

Last cycle, I think I sent 2 updates, couple months apart. I just sent them as soon as I had something new. I was complete in July and received an interview invite late February for mid-March. So I feel for all of you in this waiting process.

Being in contact with a representative can't hurt. It definitely shows your interest in the school, and he/she might be able to give you some insights about the process. But I can't say that it will have a bearing on Admissions' decision to give you an invite.

Congrats on the status change! It's a good sign since they need to read a lot considering how much of a beast this secondary was. Also now you can breathe a little easier as there shouldn't be any crazy red flags in your app. I'd recommend you hold off on any updates unless they are very significant (publications, awards, achievements). Adcoms know you're interested because you applied so they'd just be more annoyed if you kept bothering them.

The general consensus/rule of thumb is if you haven't received any IIs by Thanksgiving, you should start sending some updates. I sent my updates out last cycle in early December and got an II mid January. Sit tight and relax because it's still very early in the cycle. I submitted here late August so... I don't think my status will change anytime soon lol 🙄

What is mean "to wait the score"? you will see in your portal?

Yea id generally hold off til after November and try to send more of an update than just a letter of interest, in my limited experience updates are more helpful

Honestly, there isn't really a set time frame. For some it may be within a month, while others may take multiple months. I know that this isn't really reassuring unfortunately, but everything will work out somehow. Wish you the very best!

Hi everyone I made a post the other day regarding application status and didn't get much incite on the topic. My app status is "....currently under review by the admissions committee....". I was wondering if when an individual submits the secondary if the status is complete then goes to under review and then scored? Or is it always labeled under review once its submitted? I was just curious as to if I should anticipate any kind of update from UM in the near future or if this is just a general status for everyone?

Mine has said this for ages:

Your Application to the UM Miller School of Medicine is complete and is currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

Yes, once you submit your secondary and your file is complete, you get the currently under review status. Not quite sure if it is a completely linear process based on complete date, but the adcom reviews your file and gives you a score *see first page of thread. someone posted how you get scored*. Also not sure how many people score your file, but maybe two or three members evaluate your file and they average your score? After that, your status will change to "scored" and you will be ranked. However, even if you are scored, you may still be waiting for weeks or months because interview groups are chosen based on the scores and obviously other factors.

IMO, just sit tight and ignore the status changes. It's nice to see small updates, but it's probably the admission process for most schools. Preliminary review to smaller pool or hold to interview and then acceptance. Just that some schools are kind enough to let you know where you are.

How long will take it from reviewed by the Admissions to scored?

has anyone submitted an update letter?
I did. I had several of important updates to send, so I sent one pretty early. Got confirmation that they received it but haven't heard anything since

Sorry. I feel real dumb to be asking this but I havent gotten any details on where we should meet for interview day. I'm on the app but it just gives a schedule. No locations. Is any email going to be sent? Where can I find this information?
