2016-2017 University of Washington Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Not applying this cycle, but does anyone know the WWAMI residency requirements? My family lives in Wyoming but I'm a Texas Resident at a Texas university, so I'm planning on moving home with my family after school. Does anyone know how long I have to physically live in a WWAMI state to apply as a resident? It only takes one month to get a Wyoming ID and plates. Thanks!
I live in British Columbia and go to school at UBC, but am still and Idaho resident and part of the WWAMI since I depend on my parents. For Idaho, I had to fill out a ton of paper work to verify my residency.

Idaho Resident - Received II Oct, 17th still no date confirmation.

I interviewed as an Idaho applicant last year. And last year, I received an invite to interview in October. This year, I haven't received any correspondence from them regarding a II, except confirmation of my secondary application. Has anyone else had a similar experience? What's with the delay?
I had an interview here last year, got the email with the II in mid october. This year I was complete about the same time and just got my II yesterday. So I would say you still have a shot at getting one as well.

Congratulations! And thank you; I hope you're right.

I'm surprised no one has heard anything if the excom committee met this week....

Made it to the alternate list but just barely didn't get pulled sadly. I'm hopeful this year! Best of luck to you as well.

I'm definitely pulling for you Henchman21. I think we might have interviewed on the same day last year, and it's downright sucky to be one person away from making it. This is your year!

Hey thank you very much! I really appreciate that 🙂. I hope the best for you as well!

When can one expect to hear back from scheduling after being extended an interview? For in-state Washington applicants (foundations in Seattle).

I sent my preferred date to interview in Spokane on the 7th, got the confirmation today (13th).

Hey does anyone know if they accept updates for certifications as well as grades? I am finishing up a Microbio class, but also my internship which gives me a certification of Patient Experience and Pre-Clinical work from a top school. It is technically a "class" with coursework, but mostly involved over many hours of clinical work.

Email and ask, or just bundle your update and let them do as they please with it.

So no SUC'd or acceptances or rejections? I have never had this much trouble waiting for anything in my life....just give me a date....AHHH 🙂 I suppose my date is March... I must part ways with my daily obsession with my gmail account, and SDN thread updates.

Hmm guessing those of us who interviewed in Seattle from mid-November-early December won't hear back now until after New Years.

I called admissions earlier this week and they said they can't tell me when the meeting is but that the committee will meet sometime this month..

Thanks for the info!

Must be next week then because they definitely aren't meeting during Christmas week.

Probably not until March, I'd imagine.

Edit: misread

I am an Idaho resident with an interview invite. My interview will be in January because I'm a trust applicant. Does anyone know if I will hear back after the TRUST interviews (January) or not until after March when all Idaho applicants are done interviewing?

Were you told in the II that your invite was for TRUST?
I´m also trust, but the invite was not specific.

I suppose I assumed all who applied trust interview first week? There is a trust and a non-trust II? Seems like if you applied TRUST, then you interview for a TRUST spot, if denied TRUST, you then enter normal pool.

Anybody know how many Idaho interview invites are given out? What are odds of acceptance post II?

The overall acceptance rate is about 30% post interview. I think the rate is similar in regional sites, about 1/3, but the good news is that the pool of applicants may be less competitive.

Another SUC just came in. I figured they met last week.

Suc as well. Did anyone receive anything different?

Sucd email was different though. Shorter and said "we are happy to report you are still under consideration" compared to the last emails.

Anyone from the 11/30 interview hear anything yet?

Yeah the tone seemed much less scary

Interesting they changed up the email - I'm sure there is nothing to it, but this process tends to induce paranoia, delusions, and over-analysis, so I think we should spend the next week debating what it could possibly mean 😉

Does anyone know if the TRUST program is only for WWAMI residents? I am non-WWAMI and it did not show up as part of my secondary.
Thanks -

I had this same question and emailed them to ask. They said TRUST is not available for non-WWAMI students unfortunately, but they did emphasize that there were plenty of alternatives for these students if they were interested in rural medicine.

so... how long after they send you the "we would like to invite you for an interview" do they actually let you schedule an interview? It's been a month over here lol

I interviewed 11/30 and was SUC'd yesterday. Would love to hear from anyone else from our day tho, particularly if they were accepted or rejected
