So for us waitlisters, if we're still on the list in mid-May and haven't been accepted anywhere else by that point, would they be more likely to accept us when they see that?

Very doubtful, I think if anything, that might dissuade them from accepting you, so best not to mention it.

To those who interviewed and sent a thank you email, did they ever send a confirmation that the received it? I'm kinda scared lol

I think the opposite may be true. Adcoms can see that you have no acceptances, therefore likely to attend if offered acceptance. My n=1; Interview Nov. WL in Dec. Pulled off WL on Traffic Day (May 2nd last year). Only II and Acceptance.

II in my portal!! Haven't received an email yet, but I scheduled for the last 2016 date before it could fill. Hope it's not rude or no one there notices lol.

I was starting to think Wayne wasn't loyal (DJ Khaled voice).

I interview here on Nov. 21 ... my LizzyM is 63 because of a 60 percentile MCAT but I have stellar/spectacular EC's and LORs while working full-time since I was 17 years old.

Do I have a chance? I'm in-state btw.

They wouldn't have given you an interview if you didn't have a chance! 🙂

So I know there's been mixed signals regarding the next wave of decisions... has anyone heard if we may hear next week, or is the Dec 2nd date more realistic?

for those of us who've been waitlisted-- any course of action in terms of getting off? or is it really just a waiting game?

i don't think they take LOIs do they?

I was accepted and I had a low score in a section that was below 60th percentile, but everything else on my application was stellar.

Hi guys! I interviewed on 11/4 and I think it went really well. Surprisingly I was the only WSU student there, so I feel like I knew a lot more about the university than many of the people I interviewed with. The competition was stiff! Two students from Harvard and one from Yale. I have it on good authority that we will probably not hear back until Dec 2nd. The admissions committee only meets once a month, and the last time was at the beginning of November.

I am interviewing next month and was wondering, what did people find stood out about WSU most from other schools that were already admitted or interviewed?

Hmm...curious where @premed574 got their info then and when?

According to the receptionist I spoke with yesterday morning, they can meet up to two times a month during the busy months. She also said they don't have definite dates as to when we will hear back. I interviewed way before 11/4 and she gave me the timeline of within the next week and a half to hear back.

Thank god thank you for this. I've been slowly losing my mind waiting.

When did you interview?

It seems like people from 2 interview days heard back last time, so I'm curious which dates might be in the next batch.

Only about 2 interview days heard back last time because the interview dates before them all heard back on October 15th. If they are even somewhat consistent, I think the rest of October interview dates plus approximately the first half of the November interview dates will hear back "soon".

True, but there were also at least 3 other interview dates that fell before the last the release date that didn't hear back, so they could be doing smaller batches.

Right. Unfortunately I was a part of one of those three interview dates. This is however why I think only about half of November interviewees will hear back when they release the next batch.

For those interviewing on December 2nd or live around the area, the World Health Student Organization (WHSO) at Wayne State University School of Medicine is holding an event with food on December 2nd from 6:30-10:00pm. It'll be a good opportunity to see the different organizations at the school and talk to students (like me!!). Message me if you're interested!!

Also, the admissions office will be holding a "tweet-up" session this Thursday from 7:00-8:00 p.m (@waynemedicine). If any of you have lingering questions you want answered right away, the "tweet-up" session might be a good place to ask!

I have two questions.

1) How long did it take for people to hear back about interviews after submitting their secondary applications?

2) When you get an II, do you get to choose a date or is one assigned that you can change, if need be.

Thanks!

1) I got an II on 11/9 and submitted secondary around 7/22.
2) You choose a day! I think you can reschedule/ cancel it up until 2 weeks before it as well.

Interviewed Oct 24th. Asked today when we could expect to hear by and they said Dec 9th

Thanks! That seems to be the rough timeline I'm hearing from other people, too.

complete 7/12 and still in MR. do they do silent rejections?

Does this include post interview interviewees?

Pre-interview. I think people who interviewed are either admitted or waitlisted. Not sure when those rejections go out... I know people who got admitted from the waitlist in July so could be a while.

My info about them meeting just once a month and not hearing back until December was from 3 people that actually sit on the committee

All sorted. Interviewing Jan 13! Any idea if this date means interviewing for the waitlist? Very excited about this opportunity!

There is never a date where you're just "interviewing for the waitlist"; one of the reasons the waitlist exists is so schools can have admissions spots available for every interview date. If not, imagine what would happen when "Billy House-Cox" shows up for an interview day in March but you've filled all your spots. You're forced to expand your class, rescind a current offer, or turn down a future Vicodin addicted name calling genius.

Waitlisting is typically "we believe you're qualified and would like to admit you, but there are others <within some review period> that we would like to admit some degree more". The waitlist means they can hold those people to the next interview/admissions review, when they have a new batch of spots under consideration. There are admissions spots available for individuals following every single interview day, I assure you 🙂 .

Congratulations on your interview!
