Is the acceptance for the phd program different from the regular md program?

How do you mean? This was acceptance to the MD/PhD program which came about 6-7 weeks after my interview and admission to the medical school. It was a longer, more personal email that came from the director of the program and included details about the stipend that comes with it, etc...

Am currently WL’d and just got the public health email. I hope this isn’t their way of saying they don’t think I’m cut out for medicine.

Not on wait list and got MPH email, don't read into it

For those that interviewed, do you remember what they said was the purpose for having the third interview? I remember they mentioned it on interview day, but forgot what it was for?

Sure! They scheduled me for January 31, so it's actually pretty soon lol 😱

EDIT: Also, they interview on Wednesdays only.
ooom thank

If the first two interviewers come back with vastly different opinions, or disagree on something, then they'll have a third to shift it one way or another. It definitely isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Regarding movement on the waitlist, do they pull people off if the class isnt full by the end of the cycle? Or do save a certain amount if seats to completely evaluate all candiates and then take some students off?

II just now. LM 68, IS, complete July. They gave me a late Feb date. Anyone know if I'd be interviewing for the waitlist by this point or not? Hope not, but I'm happy to go regardless.

Congrats, I'm interviewing in Feb too! According to their completion email, "The "time factor" has no impact on our decision-making. Our last interview day of the year is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, 2018. We do not fill our entire class until after that date." So we should be good 🙂

Anyone who interviewed here know what the grading policy is for UB Med? The website showed a non-P/F scheme but I wanted to make sure that info is up to date.

That sounds promising!

Yes, grading is non-p/f. It is kind of like letter grading: honors, satisfactory, pass, etc.

Interviewing at Buffalo at the beginning of February; already accepted at Upstate. I'd be curious to hear from people who may have applied/interviewed at both: what do you like about each? What is swaying your choice between them? (I'm really passionate about bioethics and palliative care and I'd like to be somewhere that would allow me to explore those interests.)

They both are very similarly ranked. Do you want to live in upstate or Buffalo? Lol

Does anyone know if this school accepts updates?

Interviewed this week. Anyone know how long they've been taking to release decisions post II?

Buffalo is pretty quick with decisions. You'll probably hear back sometime next week.
By the way, what did you think of your interview? Mine's coming up in a few weeks.

It was very relaxing. Everyone’s super nice and the interviews are personal. Just be yourself the questions were straight forward. They told us that the interviewers are trying to sell you to the committee so they only want to help you. Good luck!

It's been two days :<0
In the same boat - they did say 3-4 weeks in the presentation but all of the students said we'd hear the next day so I'm panicking a bit. I know admissions just moved to the new campus so maybe they're a bit behind?

Just recently interviewed at Upstate, and interviewed at UB a few months ago. In general I would say both are pretty good schools and are quite similarly in ranking.

I really liked the campus in upstate, everything is close by, however I haven't seen new Ub building yet so I cannot really talk about that. Also Ub has a brand new building for their school which is nice. Upstate has also made some recent renovations with their new academic building, also a plus.

I can't really comment on how Ub conducts their exam, but from what I heard at upstate is that they get a week off before exams with no classes to focus on studying, review classes are also held if you wish to attend. Pre clinical grades are also p/f where as ub has pretty much letter grading. I would be really happy in general to attend either of these schools, cant go wrong with either. But if given the choice I would go to Ub mainly because I grew up there, and its where my famiy and support system are.

I was so excited i forgot to post here lol....I got a II this week!! I'm over the moon :biglove:. IS, complete early Aug

Hey I was also there this week (guess I met you there). I also haven't hear back. I guess we could hear back the day after but due to the silence it means either none were accepted yet or all those accepted in our group didn't report to SDN/ don't go on SDN.
