About to submit my Tulane secondary. I have three letters in already, and I know that they "strongly prefer" only three letters, but I just got a letter from my boss following a recent promotion, and I feel like it's really strong. One of the 3 I've already submitted is probably fairly unimpressive (but not negative). I want to submit this 4th letter despite the guideline but I feel like thats maybe a bad idea?

What would you guys do?
I think you will be fine submitting all 4. I submitted 4 and got an II, so its not a big concern.

that's matriculating rate ... slightly different than acceptance rate since they adcoms have to factor in yield rate ... is Tulane the general 2x class size or so?

Approaching 1 month since my letters were turned in, completing my secondary application, and still no green check. I wonder how many secondaries they got this cycle. It's taking them a lot longer to review apps compared to last year.

I think it is. Someone either on previous years threads/reddit mentioned that Tulane sends out at least 80-90% of its II by the end of sept
Ya but this interview cycle seems way different than past years, a lot of schools are having technical difficulties and are very behind

My guess is that they'll be over half by the end of this month.

Got the Green Check and under review email on 8/9

Hoping for positive news!

From the other posts it seems that this school doesnt hesistate to reject or send II's swiftly, hoping for the best!

There’s a difference between this cycle vs this school. Tulanes done pretty good with only minor tech problems and this is a historical trend. I also feel like everyone says ‘this cycle ‘ is different from the rest every year lmao

So my previous post was an underestimate. Looks like they're about 75% done with sending out interview invites. That's the harsh reality about this school, you gotta apply very early here to have a shot.

I'm just hoping my odds didn't drop...My app was under review on the 17th.

I received the under review email on 8/7, but haven’t heard anything since. Do you all think that’s good or bad?

I'm in the same boat, under review on 8/9, don't think it's good, but not necessarily bad either. Hopefully we find out soon. Might have drawn the short stick in getting reviewers. Took me a month to go under review

Im assuming I was passed over? I was complete 8/2 and still have a red exclamation mark by "in progress"
+1

I don't think we were "passed over" hopefully we hear back soon though! Even if its an R I just need an update 🙁

Under review since 7/23..almost a month. not sure how I should feel about this 🙁

This may have been answered earlier already but did the people that got a green checkmark get an email or they had to check the portal?

Tulane has a early/fast II cycle. In previous cycles they were scheduling II into feb/March by sept

I'm just curious why they have a cycle that like that. How does that help the school? I feel like they would miss a lot of good applicants who submit just a bit later

Email that states you are under review

Thanks!

It is what it is! I wish I knew that they were this quick about it, nothing we can do about it. If that's the way they want to pick their candidates then that is just how its going to be.

It probably makes their lives easier since they’ll be done faster. Plus as someone else pointed out, they don’t seem to be in a rush to increase their stats so they no doubt already have their pick of the applicants

Lets also realize that Tulane is NOT like other schools well it comes to its application and interview cycles. Tulane, like @medschoolzombie mentioned, is historically (going back pretty far) a very early school when it comes to handing out interviews and stuff.

That combined with the fact that we are the guinea pig year for the recent AAMC/AMCAS policy changes means that I wouldn't be surprised if Tulane was actually quicker this year in terms of making decisions and handing out its interviews. Many adcoms and other experienced individuals on this site have brainstormed ways that med schools will change their process to respond to the policy changes and one of the consistent ones I keep hearing is more interviews early and more waitlisting.

I don't know about other schools but Tulane definitely has their **** together and is rolling (which is unfortunate considering my application wasn't complete until very recently which is pretty much late for Tulane 🙁 ).

My application has been under review since 8/2....should I be concerned that it is taking so long and ask about it? I know they REALLY don't like being asked though so that's probably not the right move to take

You should call..........JK of course, just hang tight its a long process that pretty much ends in March.

I think what I’ve learned is that if you have a late committee letter, you best not apply to Tulane, regardless of how "well-known" your school is for late committee letters.

Amen to that brother....

Submitted secondaries everywhere in July and my committee letter just recently came out. Sucks at all the schools obviously, but especially all of the low yield ones where an early application can be the difference between an interview and a rejection. Tulane might be the poster child for that.
