2018-2019 Tulane University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If anyone interviewing 9/11 is interested in sharing uber rides with me to the airport, go ahead and pm me. Thanks.

hahaha can't really refute that logic. i think though Tulane only has a MCAT average for acceptance of 511 so not too high. I have no clue how they manage to narrow down 12k applicants to 600 interview invites

This is probably why they have such an early cycle then. Probably Easier to tell people there’s no spots left since they fill up so fast

Anyone have insight on post interview acceptance rates? Last year’s thread said that it was around 60%, but that most people still get waitlisted

Lets also realize that Tulane is NOT like other schools well it comes to its application and interview cycles. Tulane, like @medschoolzombie mentioned, is historically (going back pretty far) a very early school when it comes to handing out interviews and stuff.

That combined with the fact that we are the guinea pig year for the recent AAMC/AMCAS policy changes means that I wouldn't be surprised if Tulane was actually quicker this year in terms of making decisions and handing out its interviews. Many adcoms and other experienced individuals on this site have brainstormed ways that med schools will change their process to respond to the policy changes and one of the consistent ones I keep hearing is more interviews early and more waitlisting.

I don't know about other schools but Tulane definitely has their **** together and is rolling (which is unfortunate considering my application wasn't complete until very recently which is pretty much late for Tulane 🙁 ).

Wouldn’t there be less waitlisting and more willingness to hand out earlier acceptances, as they’ll never know who gets in where else?

anything you guys want me to ask the adcom, I'll be at the university next week.

yes, what's up with the plastic baby in the king's cake. first time I got it I was almost this better be like the bouquet of flowers at a wedding and whomever gets it

If you can, ask about how the new AMCAS multiple acceptance report changes will affect their post interview admissions process. At one school I interviewed at recently, they said that these changes will result in them sending out a significantly lower number of out right acceptances and will use the waitlist a lot more.

I'll ask. It will be a long cycle imho

Business formal. Full suit with tie for men, pants suit or skirt suit for women with appropriate bag. Heels or flats acceptable. Do not let your clothes be the thing that makes them think twice about your passion for the school. Also they say that women can change shoes for the tour and lots do! That’s fine. The interview portion is over by that point.
Okay Thank you!! Does the men suit have the to be like a legit suit or can we have different color pants and blazzer lol.

Wearing a 'legit suit' will make you look much more legit 😉 In all honesty what you wear won't make or break your interview but it gives a certain first impression. I interviewed twice at Tulane and both times all the guys were in a suit and tie and you might feel out of place if you don't. Additionally, if you purchase a single nice suit you can wear it for residency interviews and other important events!

I personally think what you wear can't make your interview but can definitely break your interview if it's bad enough..

interviewed twice? i am assuming you were waitlisted the first time and the second time waitlisted again or are you a student at Tulane now?

Submitted 8/4, under review 9/4. Guess earlier comments were accurate, it does take a month.

Not necessarily I was complete 8/1 and still nothing. There are people complete before me too I think. No consistency at all, which is kind of frustrating.

I was complete end of July. Been in progress now for almost two weeks. Still nothing 🙁

This may be irrelevant. Just to help out others who are waiting for II. Complete: 07/03, Under review: 07/09, II: 07/17. Hope you all the best.

A couple years ago, I was complete at the end of July/beginning of August and did not receive an interview invite till September!

That comforting to hear, was your interview on March? Was Tulane fast at that time too?

I'll add on to that: Complete on 8/3, Under review on 8/20, II on 9/4.

Has Tulane started sending out rejections already ?

Also on hold, secondary completed 7/19, under review 8/23. Lizzy M 71

Anybody got any info on how likely you are to get an interview after being placed on hold? On hold today as well.

No point in guessing our chances when there are like 12,000+ applicants. I would say just assume you are rejected for now and focus on other med schools. If they throw an II later, great. If not, we were already prepared for it haha.
