the packet we got said 88th percentile last year which is 513. only went up by one point which could mean absolutely no real difference in stats .....

how could they market a 514 if thats just what it happens to be right now ? lol

The updated MSAR is for last year’s cycle. What we were looking at before this week was the MSAR from the 2016-2017 cycle

well the website says class of 2022 which would be last years cycle, no? we would be 2023.

The MSAR is from AAMC. UM’s website is from UM. MSAR says 514 (91% tile) mcat is the accepted median, and 513 is the matriculated median for class of 2022

Can any current UM student comment on the level of preparation that UM coursework provided them for step one?

If I’m being honest our level of board prep is about average. Our step 1 averages are somewhere in the mid-low 230s every year, usually 5ish points above the national average.

Our curriculum is generally more geared towards good clinical education.

Of course that’s not to say our students don’t routinely kill step if they want/need to for their desired field.

Yea I’m not sure what y’all are going for here, but that is correct. And also not the least bit surprising.

FYI about step yield and curriculums, many schools won’t care that much about how perfectly their preclinical aligns with step. They’ll see preclinical as a way for them to show you want they think will make you a good doctor, not a high step scorer. Take that as you will

It’s 5:30, I’m calling it for myself

7th waitlist. This really stings. I don’t have much confidence in myself as a doctor anymore, but there’s nothing else I’d rather do, so I’ll trudge on

Glad to see I'm not the only one checking the clock lol

Only 20 calls. They’re either going to post later or they don’t use SDN. We’ve been waitlisted man. Accept it.

Just got the acceptance call!!!!!!!!! First acceptance after two app cycles and a hell of a lot of R's. I can't believe it. Also very sorry to the fourth year med student who called me and got screamed/cried at on the phone...that's my bad
I was whispering omg as he was talking and trying to remain calm the whole time, glad I'm not the only one!!! I could hardly fumble words out

Since this was the last posted "acceptance day" is it just a scramble after today, with a possible A coming at any time as people start to select other schools?

I just got an email saying my financial aid award is now available but I can't figure out how to access it on CaneLink -- anyone else have the same problem?

Same. Ugh. And the fin office close till tomorrow

Does it say "Inquiry Access Denied" on your portal as well?

So I looked through last year forum 2017-2018, same thing happened to most people last year. Apparently, we have to email the financial aid office to help resolve the issue.

We each have to email them?? Thanks for looking!

I could not find their email, so I might call tomorrow. Also dont wanna be a debby downer, but looking at last year threads, unless you got some merit scholarship or separate scholarship, it looks like its gonna be all loans. Hopefully, the Miller family is reading this and wants to pull an NYU here for us

Hey guys, I can view the financial aid info on my computer.

Total loan amount I can accept (Unsubsidized and Grad Plus) is $76,944. Unfortunately no grants/scholarships for me though 🙁
