2018-2019 University of Washington

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don’t think it’s that straight forward. Could be that person had a super stellar app and interview and they made a decision right away only because their app also happened to be presented at this meeting. I think that others not on this forum probably were accepted today too. There are a lot of excom members and they don’t attend every meeting and not every application is discussed every meeting so it’s hard to anticipate when we will hear anything. I also don’t think it’s always correlated to when your interview was unfortunately. I think best thing to do now is just to wait as tough as that is to hear.

Well sure but if there has been a meeting you're at least supposed to hear that you're still under consideration if nothing else. Even if your committee member wasn't present.

I think this Excom member decided to inform their applicant early. Which is awesome for them! Because you’re right, we should hear if we’re at least SUC. People are guessing it’ll start this Friday potentially but definitely by next Friday.

First time posting on SDN but my name says it all...

Google “University of Washington School of Medicine Admissions Committee Bylaws” and go to Section 1 Article 6.e.3. It’s several years old but my guess is that’s why each year someone seems to get a decision outside of the normal decision timeline for everyone else. Yes, I too have incubated long enough to become neurotic.

What about for Idaho?

For Washington it’s a little lower. I think it’s around 30%. The other WWAMI states have a much higher acceptance rate (which increases the overall percentage of post interview acceptances as seen on the acceptance statistics)

What about for Idaho?

There isnt any data for post interview percentages. But, in general
Washington residents have a 15%, Idaho 19%, Wyoming 34%, Montana 32%, Alaska 22%.

With that in mind, the post interview acceptance rate for ALL WWAMI states was 43% in 2017.
I am assuming that Wyoming and Montana have a higher than 43% of being accepted post interview, and Washington, Alaska, and Idaho have less than a 43% chance. Put that is only an extrapolation based on the info they do provide.

Anybody scheduled an interview recently? what dates were available?

Thanks!

Let the record show that today marks one month since UW promised an update within a month :lame:

I got an interview invite about 3.5 weeks ago, but I was never provided a date for my interview. Is this normal? How long did it take other people to get the follow-up email regarding when their interview was scheduled for?

I interviewed in October and got the follow-up email ~2 weeks after the II. They'll schedule your interview about 4 weeks out so you should have enough time to plan for it!

thanks. I guess I'm worried, because it has been 3.5 weeks since I got the initial II (without a date scheduled), but perhaps that's normal.

I got my interview invite on 10/19 and just got my email to schedule this morning. There were 3 dates available in the last week of Nov and first week of Dec.

Edit: I got my II on 10/23. So its been just over 2 weeks for me.

For individuals that have already interviewed how did you go about sending thank you notes/emails ?
Thanks in advance !

I think I'm in the same boat as you. I got the invitation 10/18 with no follow up so far.

When do you think theyre going to start calling about acceptances. Looks like only one person posted about getting an acceptance so far.

Hi! I am a Washington resident, but even though my secondary was submitted late July, my residency was JUST NOW verified (so my application is only now considered complete).

I have a 517 MCAT, 3.7 sGPA, 3.84 cGPA, decent volunteering, and a fair amount of research (with pubs coming) -- do you think this is enough to help me get an interview even though my application is complete so late in the game?

If I don't hear back, when do you think I should start thinking about reapplying? Appreciate any advice y'all may have!! Thanks a ton!
I think you will still be okay, you'll have to wait another 5 or so weeks before they review your app.

Got an interview invite today. Completed on 9/28

In state Wyoming resident.

I have no idea. It has been over a month for early October interviewees so who knows. Seems like more people should have heard back? They also might have heard news and not been on this forum.

Has anyone heard back yet? Currently out of country (no calling abilities) so sort of relying on this thread to see when people are hearing back! Interviewed 10/16. Thanks! 🙂

rejected post interview the second time....mind is blank at this point 🙁🙁🙁
