What are the chances of getting off the UC list and when will we see movement??

I think pretty high. Thats their entire process. Accept a handful, reject a handful more, and everyone else sits in the UC list. They also only interview 500 for 140 ish seats. I'd imagine they accept at least 200~220 people correcting for turned down offers etc.

~40 of those 140 are BS/MD from several different programs, and so only about 100 seats are up for grabs each cycle. Either way they do seem to have significant UC movement even as the cycle processes.

I heard they interview closer to 700

I just interviewed there yesterday and heard it was closer to 800, with about 300 being accepted outright or pulled from the UC list, and another approximately 30 coming off the WL that they create in May from the UC list.

Surprisingly, no.
We were told on interview day several times that "almost none of you will receive a straight acceptance", so I was definitely not expecting this.
I was in your interview! But unfortunately got the UC email. Waiting game begins now.

Accepted on 1/23 after interviewing on 1/10. I am incredibly excited because Albany is my top choice.

Does anyone know if there is a class of 2024 facebook page or some other way to connect? I can't wait to meet you all!

Goodluck to everyone still waiting for an interview/acceptance.

Congrats!!! Yes there is a Facebook page!

Can someone please explain this “UC” thing to me, please?
Also seems like they let people know of their status 2-3 weeks after the interview?
Essentially Under Consideration (UC) is a decision you can get after interviewing. This is essentially an internal rank list that the committee generates based on votes. They periodically take people off of this list. Many of the students I've interacted with at Albany were in fact taken off of the UC list. I've only met a handful that were straight accepted. If they extend all acceptances as they can that cycle they will take some of the UC applicants and make an alternate list.

The three decisions you can get post interview are (accepted, UC, rejected)

Thanks for explaining it!

So you’re either outright accepted, put on UC and accepted, put on UC and rejected, put on UC and waitlisted, or outright rejected?

does anyone know if albany receives pre-II updates well? i was literally just about to, but i haven't seen anyone else mention preII updates so should i bother?

I think on the status page of their portal, they wrote that they don't accept updates or letters of interest. And that they won't add anything to the applicant file after it's complete. Came on here to see if anyone did successfully send in an update but looks like probably not :/

Yeah confirming that they unfortunately do not accept anything pre-II :/. Only after you’re invited for an interview do you have the option to provide a brief update to add to your app on the portal.

Wait where can you update in the portal post interview? I thought it was no updates at all but I’d be interested in sending one. UC since 10/16

Let me rephrase lol. What I meant was that when you’re invited for an interview there was a tab for you to provide like a 3 sentence update on anything you wanted to add to your application. This was near the same tabs where you were able to select an interview date and stuff.

Can any current students speak to the ECs available at the school? The website doesn’t say much other than a few organizations.

Is there an academic calendar for 2020-2021 circulating anywhere?

Not until accepted students dayish these are around. In general we don’t have the 3 day weekends, but have Tgiving, Christmas and a week in spring. Our schedule is more flexible because you can leave when there aren’t mandatory classes but you won’t know when mandatory classes are until the first week of school.

WAIT GREGOR MENDEL YOU GOT IN WTFFFFF CONGRATS I THOUGHT YOU ENDED THE 18/19 SEASON ON THE WAITLIST GANG BUT YOU GOT IN. Congrats mate hope you're having a great year!

Hey Meridian, thanks! I was totally not expecting it, and I think I got pretty lucky in getting pulled at the last moment. I just happened to be next on the list. You were probably not far behind I bet. I wish you all the success your next cycle and hope you get in! Persist!
