2019-2020 Boston University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Interviewing here soon and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for things to do in Boston (flying in two days prior) as I’ve never been there. Also, how did your interview experience compare to other schools you have visited? Is it more conversational or formal? Any advice/tips would be awesome, super excited about this one!!
My interview was super conversational so I wouldn't worry too much!

Someone asked on our interview day about 1 interview. We were told it's due to faculty availability.

Can someone please remind me if the secondary asked that if the applicants will take the Casper test? I answered yes but I forgot if this is for Boston. Please help.

It asks if you took it. It is optional though. Idk if it becomes mandatory if you marked “Yes”

I've lived in Boston for the past few years and had a recent interview. Pm me if you haven't been to your interview yet, I'd be happy to give you some tips for your free time in Boston!

anyone still waiting when they were complete in 7/17 ish? are we going with the optimistic no-news is good news?

i got my interview invite well after my complete date was passed up according to this thread. So I think for this school you can be cautiously optimistic that no news is probably good only because they are very liberal with handing out their rejections. Good luck!

It says on their website "Each applicant has one 45-60 minute personal interview with a member of the faculty who serves on the Committee on Admissions. "
Did you have just one faculty interview for 45-60 min? Open file?

Yes and Yes.

I didn't get to spend much time in Boston so no advice there, but I can speak to the interview day! The interview itself was pretty conversational, but I think that can vary pretty widely based on your interviewer. It seems like the try to pair you with an interviewer who has similar interests and experiences which is awesome! All of the students and faculty that we interacted with were extremely friendly and open to answering questions honestly. I had a great time at my interview day and I think you will too 🙂

Does anyone know when the first wave of decisions comes out?

At my interview they said they would release one set of acceptances in December for people who interviewed through November, and another in February or so. But looking at previous year's threads, I'm guessing it may look more like one in January, the other in March.
