2019-2020 Creighton

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am hoping to get in some updates before the alternate list is reviewed in January. I am wondering if it is appropriate to update with things I have committed to but not actually completed (hospital volunteering Spring semester and physician shadowing in January). I really want to get these updates in before the review because clinical exposure is an area I am weak in. Thoughts?

I would say no. I am not sure but my gut tells me no one cares what you plan to do until you do it. You can plan to do anything...

Would you submit a letter of intent to Creighton in one of the update slots or send it by email to admissions?

You email to admissions and they upload it to your file. This is what they did when I asked them about LOIs.

Does anyone know how long Creighton’s interview seasons runs till?

little shocked considering it’s a jesuit school and I do birth control/repro access research lol

going to withdraw, but hopefully it goes to someone to deserves it!
holding out hope! I was complete in August

Ahh sorry! I meant how long does their interview season run. Like what month!

Look at past threads and let us know what you find. I assume that they interview until they have ~400 acceptances

I am thinking of writing a letter of interest. I really liked that you have the possibility to do the last two years in AZ! I went to undergrad in AZ. Do they like students motivated to do the program in AZ?

Not particularly since it’s already popular among students to go there from what I gatherer speaking to students at the interview. Writing an honest LOI itself can’t hurt but I’m not sure focusing on location is the best idea since being in AZ isn’t a 100% guarantee.

For current students, how's the living situation? Would you say a car is necessary as a first year? Thanks in advance!

I'd say that ~50% of the M1/M2 class lives in an apartment complex directly across the street from the medical school. The convenience is big time.

While its possible to get by without a car... I'd highly recommend having one. The main teaching hospital is like a 10 minute car ride from campus.

Thank you! Would we need to go to the main hospital often as a first year?

Hi everyone! I was conditionally accepted on Oct 15th but I was required to take another physiology class. I really can not take the one that was approved this semester and was wondering if anyone had any luck with online classes being approved?

Does your portal status change here once you're under review (pre-II)? I've had "ready to be reviewed" since submitting my app

I enrolled in one of the UC extension course which was approved without any problem

I'm currently taking an online statistics class for my conditionally accepted requirement and they approved of it!

I know you're just joking but I'm a devout Catholic and I've had silence since July and I'm a little upset about it lol
I honestly don’t think being catholic gives you much of an advantage. I think from interacting with our current class and learning about their religious view that they try to recruit a diverse class. Yes quite a few Catholics are in our class but that it probably because more Catholics apply to this school than others. First and foremost it comes down to your academic and service resume tbh.

Diversity is important and I think Jesuit schools are pretty good at keeping that in mind. I’m not upset because I think I deserve this more than others, but mostly because I would love to attend a school that has a Catholic affiliation and I really like their program. So I’m just sad I haven’t heard anything. In the end you’re right. I don’t think whether you’re Catholic or not really has that much effect.

Would getting baptized help with our chances? Asking for a friend.
As someone who has almost all of their volunteer and clinical activities related to the Catholic Church, literally lived at their campus' Catholic Church over the summer, and also has a letter of rec from a Catholic priest, and has no interview invite, I'm gonna tentatively saying getting baptized won't help.

I was WL in December and I remember when I called they said they reviewed WL second week in January and would contact people the following Monday (13th). The more I think about it the more I'm not sure I'm remembering right. Was anyone else told this or am I remembering wrong?
