Hey, I just got an interview for the 15th and was wondering if you could answer some questions.
What's the general interview style/format that Drexel uses? How do you feel an applicant can best prepare for interviews knowing what you know now?
And what are aspects of Drexel that most applicants don't know about that you love?

I dont think it has changed, but, you have one open file interview with a faculty member. You’ll also have a closed file “lunch” interview with a student a few other applicants. Drexel still has an ethics essay you write.

Overall, i thought my interview day here four years ago was very relaxed.

My best advice for interviews is to be yourself. Sounds cheesy, but it’s true. You’ve already been deemed impressive enough to interview. You no longer need to impress anyone, you just need to connect with people and be likeable. Be proud of yourself and accomplishments. It all shines through in an interview.

One thing that I like to tell people is that even though we lost HUH, the clinical affiliates we do have are excellent.
 
hey all quick question. For those of you deferred, did you all submit that you accept the deferral on the online portal?
 
For those of you with afternoon interviews, how long does it take to get back to the airport? I'm concerned about potential work traffic and trying to get back to my flight at 6:15 haha

it technically ends at 4:30 pm and some people are there til then. I personally left around 3:30 pm but had an earlier interview and was able to do the essay in ~10 min instead of the 30 given. If your flight leaves at 6:15, it boards at 5:45 and if you have TSA precheck it'll take 5 min max to get through security but otherwise could take upwards of 20 min (? haven't flown w/out TSA pre in a while). If you left at 430pm, I'd think you'd have enough time but it would be pushing it closer than I'd be comfortable doing. Traffic in Philly is somewhat unpredictable

What is the best public transportation option for getting back to the airport after the interview? I was thinking of ubering from Drexel to either the Temple Station or the Suburban Station and taking the Airport Rail Line from there. Good idea?

The train station is like a 5 minute walk away from Drexel's campus. It's two stops to 30th street, then you can take a train from there to the airport. Probably considerably cheaper.

Uber was also pretty cheap for me relatively speaking. I found lyft was like 20 dollars cheaper than uber fyi. Sometimes it may be worth the extra 20 bucks but thats just me if you have it to spare.

You took uber from Drexel after the interview back to the airport? What was the cost of that?
 
I interviewed here and I like it. The staff was friendly, the campus was good enough (nothing special but on par with most schools I've been to), I like how the curriculum is set up to give students more freedom, and there seems to be a wide range of activities to get involved in due to the large student body. Some people said the students here seemed sad but I think they just came at a poor time, everyone seemed happy when I came.

And dare I say it, I think everyone has overblown the Hanhemann(sp?) situation. It seems all of the rotation sites have been figured out and it certainly won't be a problem for anyone in the current cycle. No, it's not a top tier school but it seems solid to me. Idk why everyone acts like Drexel is the worst. I can see myself going there if admitted!

I would just uber/lyft were I you. The train system is easy to navigate but not something you're going to want to do after an interview if you're in a rush to get to the airport. Just my 2 cents

Uber/lyft isnt expensive to the airport.

But you can take the Chestnut Hill West line from Queen Lane to 30th Street and hop on the airport train.
 
Does the morning session interview end promptly at 2PM? Trying to schedule a 4PM flight out of Philadelphia
 
II today. LM 67-68 (ORM, very vanilla, OOS), complete 10/22 (late rec letter). Since I also made an error regarding an activities contact info, I'm surprised I'm being invited at all (only other II is to state med school w/high rate of IIs for in-state). I genuinely thought the email was going to be a rejection, and promptly had whiplash on realizing it was an II. I don't think I was put on hold, but that's probs due to late submit.

Edit: Gosh, I am silly - I should've mentioned that at the time I scheduled my interview, AM/PM slots were open for four days a week for two weeks in February, as well as scattered AM slots in late January. I did not check March, but imagine there's slots there too.

I was put on hold wayyyyy back in July, almost instantly after my app was complete.

Yeah I submitted one update in October, since I had a presentation in my department's grand rounds and some small research updates as well.
